“watching the detectives 32” (detail from S U R R O G A T E 7), 2021. documentation and distribution of instances where I’ve noticed algortithmic/geospatial network mapping of my IRL experiences taking place. while working on S U R R O G A T E 7 this past week I noticed two instances where IG had explicitly mapped and pushed content that was relevant to my IRL context/experience. instance 1 was a top post in my feed upon launching IG of a simpsons tattoo handle I follow that referenced a cat lady. this post was served while I was searching for the house cat that lives at the site of S U R R O G A T E 7 who had gotten out of the house. the second instance involved an explore page bit of content that featured imagery of Johnny Depp as #huntersthompson from the fear and loathing movie. the husband who owns and lives at the site of S U R R O G A T E 7 is the nephew of #huntersthompson #dataminetherealtime #thenewoil #rareearthreflections #cannibalcapitalism #unemploymentresidencyii
