i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

Because of Reasons, I found myself reading "An Old Flame" last night before bed.
A) That story remains So Good, you guys, and so full of ridiculous shenanigans. (This time, I was very struck by the extended montage of Bunny's plan to rescue Raffles if he gets caught randomly climbing a balcony. He gets so excited about his plan, and about getting to be the hero for once! It doesn't actually happen, but it's still so cute )
B) Do I really need to reread all of Raffles right now? Probably not. Am I going to anyway? It seems likely. At very least, I am going to be rotating Them in my mind again for the next week at minimum.
#everytime i go back and reread raffles it gets better you guys#it’s so good. literally perfection#raffles#crime and cricket

it’s one of those things that before reading the canon you’re like ‘Ok so this is such a Thing in sherlock holmes adaptations that there must be Something in the story to warrant it’ and then you actually read SCAN and you’re like. this literally could not be more clear cut. they have zero romantic chemistry. they reiterate throughout the story that holmes is not romantically interested in irene or women in general. they do not have a scene together where one isn’t in disguise. irene’s also happily married that’s kind of a big thing that happens in the story. where did we go wrong
Recently read the OG Scandal in Bohemia and Sherlock and Irene had no romantic relationship whatsoever. She's happily in love and married to her husband. A girlboss in her own right. Love that she outwitted Holmes. But it kinda bums me out that pop culture ships her with Holmes when she has her own love interest. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa queen you deserve so much better

Sherlock Holmes is the funniest case of “doomed by the narrative” ever. Doomed by the narrative and destined to die young bc the creator hated him, and then the fans literally bullied him into un-dooming the narrative, writing about him for another thirty years, and giving the character a canonical happy ending where he retires to the countryside and keeps bees. Funniest shit ever.

If you ever tagged me to do one of those tag game thingies and I never did it:
1) Thank you, seriously. Those are fun and being included shows that my followers care enough to want to learn more about me.
2) Very sorry about that, it’s extremely likely that I said to myself “Cool! But I’m busy at the moment, I’ll have to do this later today or tomorrow” before proceeding to just straight-up forget, now it’s too far back in my notifications and/or your blog to find again.
