        The room was melting around her. Neon skin and faceless bodies in a crowd, she was heat vision, skating through a mob of white-shirted bodies where glow-in-the-dark paint shone from cheekbones and breastplates. There was a feeling in her chest like the hatching of a bird and Greta found herself unsure if it was caused by the abundance of love and acceptance that bled through the carnival air or perhaps the chemicals in her bloodstream, back-alley traded and swallowed in a vodka soda. With glitter smeared cheekbones she drifted through the roller-rink, half on skates and half on wings, dripping silver from the creases of her tear ducts, neon paint in symbols up her skin. She fell before she remembered how to stand, one moment gliding effortlessly, the next clicking skates and tumbling headfirst into a pack of bodies. Grazed knees. Head rush. It was a second or two before she came to, pulling herself up by the elbow of the nearest figure and dropping into their chest. “Shit. Totally just stacked it. How embarrassing.” Her skin felt like skin again, a nervous adrenaline still thrumming beneath the surface of it, an eagerness in her to touch, taste, feel, smell as she inhaled the other’s scent. “Sorry for jumping you or whatever. You just look really good in neon,” Greta noted, pushing back her hair as she righted herself on her rollerskates, knee-high socks now torn and stained, hand extending towards her knight in shining tinfoil. “Fancy a lap of the ring? Promise I’ll go gentle on you.” 

suzy had joined the roller derby team on a whim, thinking it’d be a fun activity to do and meet new people, maybe make some new friends. it also helped to think of all those cute photos from the 70s of girls with farrah fawcett curls on roller skates. she never expected it to be so intense, difficult, and competitive. she thought it’d be a bunch of girls holding hands and learning to skate together while sharing their life stories and becoming best friends, not ramming into each other in what felt like a fight to the death. she refused to quit though, she had signed up and she wasn’t going to let her team down, and maybe it would help her grow some thicker skin. suzy wasn’t an idiot, she knew she needed to. she borrowed some clothes more appropriate for the situation from her sister, not wanting to risk tripping over her long flowy skirts here, and not even attempting to do her hair like farrah fawcett out of fear someone might pull on it. she had even come earlier in an attempt to practice, and after an hour had just barely learned how to move without falling on her ass each time. it was so worth it, because while bruises developed on her body from each fall they healed even quicker each time she got up, pride in herself pumping in her heart and making her push herself harder to keep trying. sometimes you had to put yourself in a hard situation to get somewhere, and suzy was starting to learn that maybe the roughness of roller derby would be worth it in the end. if not, she could at least say she tried. it seemed she wasn’t the only one who was struggling though, or so she noticed as she helped a pretty brunette girl up from her own rough fall. “don’t worry, when i first came on i was like a baby deer walking for the first time. it was a total mess.” she tried to comfort the girl, ignoring what she thought might be a compliment, hoping the minor blush in her cheeks was hidden from the fact that her face was already red from all the adrenaline. suzy smiled up to the girl, nodding her head yes as she clasped her hand in hers, already seeing how this roller derby thing could work out in a good way. “we can learn and fall together.”

“We should do karaoke,” Teddy says insistently, nudging the person beside him with his hip. It’s obvious, just from Teddy’s glitter-covered flushed cheeks and dilated pupils that he’s high, grin on his face only making it that much more clear that he’s loving it, “Will you do karaoke with me? It’s probably, like, homophobic if you don’t. I can carry the team, I’ve been known to hold a note or two.”

suzy was not one you would often see at parties or major events, not because she was opposed to going but because most people knew it wasn’t her scene and didn’t invite her. she rarely said no to new experiences (if she knew they would lead to no harm), and everything with pride going on in their town just filled her to the brim with excitement. when it came to her own sexuality she had never given it much thought, but was more than happy to support others while she figured it out on her own. she couldn’t wipe the wide smile off her face at all the different people radiating love, not realizing many of them were under the influence of something other than ‘good vibes’. “i’d love to do karaoke with you. no promises i’m good, but i’ll give it my all.” she smiled up at the boy, almost hurting her cheeks doing so. “what song should we do?”

okay weirdly enough her and malcolm both have that in common but like !! this is not a trend in most of my charas they are the only two but other than that she is the TOTAL OPPOSITE 

suzy and her older sister were the daughters of a wannabe actress who got pregnant twice with her boyfriend at the time. they thought they could keep the two girls and raise a family together, but her acting career never kicked off and her boyfriend couldn’t provide for all of them so they gave suzy and her sister away when they were very young

they were in foster care bouncing around from home to home for awhile as children until they were finally taken in by a man and his wife who once they got in their home it was easy to tell these people did not care for the children

suzy felt like she was cinderella, only in the house for the benefits and to clean up 

the man was a terrible drunk and whenever he got drunk would take out all his anger on the girls, though her older sister always took it upon herself to distract him from suzy to protect her

because of this suzy def didn’t get it as bad as her sister but she still got it v bad 

despite all of this she maintained a very positive attitude, seeing how good and caring her sister was towards her and protecting her she knew that there are good people in the world and refuses to allow one bad man to ruin her life

her sister kept her really sheltered, trying to protect her from everything in the world, making her this totally naive overly positive girl (but don’t call her naive she hates it)

once her sister turned 18 they left with all the money they had saved up from years of working just to stay out of the house, bouncing around until they found a good home

by the time she turned 18 they were living in livingstone and stayed there, finally having a weight lifted off their shoulders and feeling as if they could move on with their lives

some stuff abt suzy!!! she is super hippieish, wears flowy boho clothes with a bunch of crystals. is a tarot reader and always wants to give people readings. she’s the type of person to get lost intentionally, always wants to be connected to nature, and will be out all night looking at the stars trying to point out as many constellations as she can, also she has a lil tabby cat ALSO SHES NEVER BEEN KISSED AND IS A HOPELESS ROMANTIC
