imagine the most meanspirited, unlikeable, rude, bitter, self centered, negative person you can think of. not a rapist, not a murderer, not an abuser. just a charmless, tactless, dyed in the wool asshole you wouldn't want to spend two seconds with. now assume they get sick, not with the flu, but with a long term, serious illness that limits their ability to provide for themself. a society in which that person is left to die alone because nobody likes them on a personal level is a failed society.

it's especially funny when you see the people who say that kinda stuff get older and their idea of the cut-off age just kinda moves further and further back. like they're 20 and they say "if i'm still into fandom at 25 i'm killing myself", then when they turn 25 it becomes "anyone over 30 and in fandoms is a fucking loser", then when they're 30 it's "lmao imagine being 35 and in fandoms"

they just keep moving the goalpost and at no point does it occur to them that maybe they could just. not do that? at any point they could stop making up arbitrary rules to shit on strangers over and just mind their own business, enjoy their own fandom experience without trying to ruin it for others

I went out with 3 of my friends today. I found a place that claimed to have wheelchair accessible walks, and we went off the path, and my wheelchair got stuck a thousand times.

We laughed so hard, and they pushed me (I can't propel myself very far) and we took photos and we laughed more and we went through mud and fine sand and thistles, and then we ate croissants at a café and when we got back to the car we had ice cream and

I wish I could go back to my child self and show them this day. I wish I could say, One day you'll be part of things and people will be glad to have you around, and they won't complain about pushing you up a steep grade or through a bog, and they will want to hear your shitty jokes and when you gasp and say LOOK A BABY BUNNY they will stop to look and it will be exactly as magical as you're imagining now.

You can find a place where you're appreciated and loved and supported. You can. I believe it.
