sel !! what are your current thoughts on the 14th member community? especially with the influx of new oc accounts + content, i saw somewhere there are longtime writers who are deleting their accounts because of this...

The community’s definitely getting bigger and I’ve noticed the influx of new blogs too, but honestly, isn’t that what tumblr’s for? I don’t mind it at all, and I know a lot of the avid readers in the tag don’t either. I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again… I don’t have problems with any old or new blogs, just as long as no one steals my works. As for writers deleting their accounts, I don’t really know anything about that… everyone has their own lives and opinions and can do what they want with their blogs. If what you’re asking is if I’ll ever delete mine because of this, the answer is no. I’m not leaving anytime soon, and even if I do someday, I won’t be deleting my blog 🤍

i wanted to ask how you’ve dealt with people plagiarizing ur stuff. i just started doing 14th member stuff and i got my first mutual and i happened to read their newest story and id say 50% is copy and pasted from a story i just wrote a week or so ago.

on one hand, i feel like i shouldn’t be mad cause its a written version of a video on youtube. on the other hand, im kinda upset cause i sat there and watched that video for hours writing down the dialogue & the members actions & added in my oc & like…that takes time.

& it’s not like by chance she said the same thing i did or used the same lines as my oc, but she types all lowercase (like i am rn) & my written works i use capitalization & stuff, so it’s OBVIOUS in certain parts. and ofc the dialogue from the members is gonna be the same it’s a youtube video but the actions & stuff are WORD-FOR-WORD.

anyways idk i’m kinda defeated cause like i was excited to have a mutual that’s doing it too & maybe i could be friends w them but now im like….side eye & i wanted to know how you’ve handled stuff like that in the past because ur like…the of svt 14th member oc writer.

Thank you for asking me this question, and please, you can yap and send me long asks anytime, I really don’t mind at all 🩷 I’m also so sorry you’re going through that right now. I know exactly how it feels, and it’s such a frustrating, draining situation to be in.

When it happened to me in the past (multiple times and counting 😀), I’ve learned that I’m not really one for public conflict, I usually prefer to address it privately. I’ll reach out to the blog directly and message them about it.

But honestly? In my experience, most of them don’t reply. They just quietly delete the work, never apologize, and act like nothing happened, which is honestly so disrespectful. People really don’t understand how awful plagiarism feels until it happens to them, especially when you’ve poured hours into something. And the thing is, plagiarizers seem to think we won’t notice if they only take “a little” or change the format, but if you’ve spent that much time writing, you always know.

It’s sad that people find it so easy to steal because there are no real repercussions, and I’m truly sorry it’s happening to you. Personally, I’ve ended up keeping to myself and only making mutuals with a small handful of writers I really trust.

My advice would be to try messaging them privately first, give them the chance to acknowledge it and make it right. But if they ignore you, don’t apologize, or refuse to credit you, then block and move on. Protect your peace. It’s exhausting dealing with negativity around here.

I really hope this doesn’t discourage you from writing, because your voice and your perspective matter. If you need to, take a break and recharge… finding out you’ve been plagiarized really does take a toll on your energy. You’ve worked hard, and you deserve to feel proud and respected for your work.
