The secret to being happy in fandom spaces issssss.......!!!! to acknowledge that fandom is always going to be flawed and toxic, and your favs are always going to get mischaracterised no matter what. kinda sucks but you will never be able to convince an entire fandom to act an behave one way, or all view a character a certain way. So you just have to ignore the people that are posting stuff you don't want to see.

this is obvious advice I know, but a lot of people fail to actually do it. resist the urge to comment on the terrible take someone just posted and start an argument. There is a very small chance that you will change their mind and you'll just frustrate yourself trying to reason with them. also, getting a character wrong isn't a crime. Some people want to view the characters in their own way, or are just casual fans that aren't looking too hard into things. People not 100% understanding something shouldn't make you angry, and it isn't your burden to teach them

the reason fandom spaces are toxic isn't because people view the characters in the wrong way!!! it's because of genuine hatred that comes from useless fandom discourse!!!
