I think deltarune is beginning to really pull the rug from under most undertale players’ feet in one key area that I haven’t seen discussed

Your Favorites Aren’t Great People

I mean even in chapter one. Undyne is a cop. That is, however, a reasonable direction for her character.

Asgore is a pushover, Toriel isn’t actually a great mother, Sans doesn’t really care about anything. These are things we know about them from Undertale, but have been brought out in Deltarune to see their uglier details.

This is also, I feel, why we haven’t seen Papyrus.

In Undertale Papyrus is confident, wacky, having fun all the time. He’s unapologetically weird, and thinks he’s the greatest around.

But the grim truth is this. Nobody likes him.

He’s weird! He’s a character, special to a lot of people, and very much coded in so many ways I wouldn’t know where to begin.

The Main reason he’s really out and about in Undertale is because of Undyne’s encouragement, which, in Deltarune, he never has.

So I believe he’s a shut-in, having been kicked down and belittled enough that it’s left him hurt and reluctant to interact with others. I’m not sure we’ll ever see him in game.

But honestly, I hope we do, even if just to help a little, y’know?

I don't really take Kris denying that Ralsei looks "too much" like Asriel in ch3 and pointing out differences between them in ch4 as a sign Ralsei doesn't actually look that much like Asriel. I know we haven't seen deltarune Asriel yet, but no other undertale characters change their appearance much, so we can pretty safely bet deltarune Asriel looks like an aged up version of undertale Asriel. Who looks very much like Ralsei.

To me, it's indicative of something bigger: That Kris has decided to start seeing Ralsei as his own person. Compared to chapter 1 and 2 where Kris was at several moments still showing discomfort interacting with Ralsei (as is natural to do when a remix of your brother suddenly shows up) chapter 3 doesn't really have moments like that.

Moreover, you have the moment in chapter 4 where Kris will yawn and cover their mouth when you try to force them to tell Ralsei that Darkner's can't feel.

This shows Kris doesn't want to hurt Ralsei's feelings. Which means they believe Ralsei has feelings. Them refusing to answer "no" is both a kindnesss and them taking a firm stance on their own belief: that Darkners are people, who can feel just like lightners can.

We don't know exactly what they reply when Ralsei starts talking about looking "too much" like Asriel, but that "too much" is significant here. It's not that Kris thinks they look nothing alike, but that the resemblance doesn't matter. Ralsei is still their friend.

I think you absolutely cannot say that Ralsei was not created in Asriel's image. The name thing just... rules that out entirely. And the fact that Susie sees a photo of Asriel and immediately thinks it's Ralsei shows that they must still look very similar.

The fact that Kris jumps to listing differences sounds, to me, like they've purposefully gone looking for those differences and memorized them, in order to mentally seperate Ralsei from their brother. It's... really endearing actually, it suggests they put active effort into seeing Ralsei as his own person.

(We've also always known there were some differences, just by looking at character designs. Asriel doesn't wear glasses, and is likely taller– at least in present day– than Ralsei, If he has horns they're probably white like Toriel's and Asgore's not pink like Ralsei's. Also, in head-on portraits, the little tufts of hair on top of their heads point in opposite directions, left for Ralsei and right for Asriel.)

Ralsei looks like Asriel, and is clearly in some way related to Asriel. But he is not Asriel. He's Ralsei, and he's Kris and Susie's friend.

I don't know how long this will last, but the situation here in Gaza is getting worse every day after the war between Iran and Israel. I forgot about Gaza. No one talks about us anymore, and the news doesn't mention us. All that is being discussed is Iran, Israel, and America.It's as if they forgot that the main problem is Gaza.

I want to make one thing extremely clear- all the memes that USAmericans are making about the bombing of Iran are extremely fucking insensitive. Get a sense of self-awareness, people fucking died. This isn't about you.

Tonight, Iran's nuclear reactors were bombed by America, the United States of America. This is not good. The war in Gaza will not end. It seems that we will remain like this until we die. The war is extending. Also, Israel has not stopped its genocidal massacres in Gaza, nor has the stifling siege, the lie about aid, and the trap of American-Israeli aid distribution points... they are death traps.

anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.
