Ryuk, what the flying fuck?
Didnât the death god say that users of the Death Note could go to neither Hell nor Heaven? Then why was Light here, in this mess that was considered perfect and swamped with sheep â and yet, YET, still chained to his arch nemesis? His own rival? The person who decided to give Light best of both worlds was a force to be reckoned with.
Anyway. Not like Light really remembered much about being Kira or a Death Note owner at the moment, so who cared? Not him. Well, maybe a little him. Just not as much as the elaborate exaggerated narrative suggested.
âSo our letters are similarâŚâ He fell quiet for a moment as he registered the words. After a few seconds, he faced L again and continued. âJudging from the way the letters are formatted, it seems they are something mass produced. Especially since they are a printed product.â
But that was only level 1 deduction at work. âEven though these letters are supposedly âsignedâ by Aries and Stella, I find it hard to believe they personally send all these letters by themselves. I can tell from the view from our room that this city is too big for that. Too many citizens.â
A pause, as he quickly ran over his own words. âFurthermore⌠it seems like they did quite some research on us.â He tapped at the sheets of paper he was holding, but wondered where the idea of him being a swimming instructor even came from? Light had been an okay swimmer, but didnât excel in it as much as the sheep apparently thought.
âIt seems a bit unlikely that a team of two can accomplish enough to elaborately investigate and manage a whole city.â Though, maybe a duo of two hot tempered creatures possibly could. âUnless they have people who work under their name for an extended period of time.â
âPlus they donât explain the reason for bringing us here.. Although they implore us to write back if we have questions.â He moved his hand around so the chain would dangle and make small sounds, which still bothered him at this point. âYouâd think that if they truly thought of our own well-being as they suggested, that they would take our chain off.â
âWould you not agree, Ryuzaki?â
It was, without a doubt, a fact that the person with L was Light Yagami.  No one could talk quite as much as the university student did. âI see.  You certainly continue to not miss very much when investigating even in a short span of time such as this, Light.âÂ
It wasnât as though the brunet wasnât making valid points, they were just points that L had already thought of and deemed either important to remember or tossed them aside as minor bits he would return to when the time was right.  Light seemed especially hung up on the idea that âAries and Stellaâ were sending letters themselves.  If L was a more visibly emotional person, he probably would have laughed, but alas, his expression unchanging as he contemplated if it would be worthwhile to remind Light of the idea that while the letters could be mass-produced, it would be nothing for those positions of power to just sign and mail them off.  Surely the sheep who delivered their letters were neither Aries or Stella-- if they were truly the ones in charge of this place, of course they would have assistants, helpers, and workers.  No matter the place in the world, politically important people rarely just walked the streets like normal citizens-- beyond just being followed and bothered by those seeking their fame for the chance to say âI met themâ, it was a hazard as being killed, injured, robbed, etc was an easy task, especially when presented with large targets such as those well-known.
âThe request for letters could simply be viewed as a way for them to lead those looking for answers around by their noses.â It would be careless, if their intentions were to keep those within the city in the dark about their reasoning for coming, to so openly tell them they would get answers simply by asking. âIt appears as though the letters would instead be a means of entertainment, or perhaps a way to earn their trust--â  and perhaps once a writer gained whoever they were writingâs trust, then they would be presented truthful facts, â--however that does not mean it would come easy or that you, the writer, would truly gain factual knowledge from the recipient.â As by the time they started to share factual information, the mental and emotional state of the writer could be deteriorated to the extent they no longer have a need, use, or want of the truth.
What could be described as possibly the most haunting fact, would be as Light had said: they had done research on those who received letters.  While it would be no surprise that you could find the person who ranked number one in To-Ohâs 2007 entry exams, to be able to identify a person who made his first world appearance only recently, and only to a select few.. Let alone know his full name rather than a pseudonym, could certainly shake a man to his core.  âItâs possible they left them to lower suspicion.  Too many dramatic changes to your environment and a person would never settle, let alone calmly accept their fate.âÂ
âWhat is the last thing you vividly recall before waking up this morning, Light.â

rengokuni:
sourhighlighting:
â @rengokuniâ has committed a criminal act!
The criminal act of being a fashion disaster, that was. Who did this person think they were? Clad in old Japanese fashion, with bright green bun to boot. It was almost like the other person wasnât aware they currently lived in the year 2003. When you considered that types like these walked around the city, it was almost completely ridiculous that Light was the suspicious one here.
Not that L really seemed fazed as Light tugged him along by the chain that connected them. Light mindlessly answered responses to the word game, Shiritori, he was playing with the renowned detective. Once the brunet stopped in front of Fairy Fountain, he turned his head to eye Sakichi.
âDid you come here toâ Hold on. ăSuprĂŠmatieăââ That was in response to the âintergouvernementalisationsâ L had just uttered during their game play. ââ Make a wish too?â
Hopefully, you wished for your own death? Even without the Death Note, Light could probably get creative and drown you in the fountain or something. If deemed necessary, that was. Which it probably wasnât. Aw.
On the flip side, when you are from Old Japan, everyone else looks like theyâre wearing foreign fashion â and for all the differences between 1577 and 2003, even clothes from the same region might as well be foreign anyway. Sakichi had returned to the fountain to continue his reading amid these unfamiliarly-clad passers-by, and found himself looking up every so often to squint above the reflections of the light off the fountainâs spray and people-watch for a minute or so. It was then that he first saw the dynamic duo, one walking in front of the other.
Were those two⌠attached to each other? was his first thought, and he leaned over slightly to get a better view while they were still reasonably far off. It seemed that the lead of the two had already caught sight of him as well, though, so he hurriedly lowered his head again to his book.
After a moment they approached enough so that he could hear them speaking, though at first the words were so unfamiliar that he missed the first half of Lightâs sentence amidst terms with likely more letters than he knew what to do with. He did catch the last part, though, looking back up at the speaker. âNo, I didnât. Itâs merely a nice spot. You did, then?â Up until this point, Sakichi had been refusing to let his eyes wander to the straggler behind him, but impulsively, his mouth formed words before his brain could stop it. âAnd why are you handcuffed together?â
đâ
Since the pairâs sudden awareness of their location within the strange city, L found himself realizing perhaps that his idea of being chained to Light in order to keep constant surveillance on him, did in fact actually have a number of đlaws. Â Most of all, being connected to someone as surprisingly social as Light, meant that L also was expected to be as social. Â He could have unlocked the chain and cuffs, however, that would negate the whole purpose of his decision in the first place.
Going with the youngerâs suggested idea of playing a mindless word game to pass the time, it was also nothing more than a đistraction as well; L was aware of this whether the other was as well or not. Â
âEcdemomania.â Â Giving Light an immediate answer, singed with sarcasm, L paid no mind to the fact that he was potentially speaking at the same time as the unique person he was near-dragged over to. Â Eyeing the person, they were certainly the type that was perhaps some kind of historical re-enactor, judging solely by the era in which their clothing fit in to. Â Or perhaps an avid fan of historic Japan-- something like a history-otaku. Â There were plenty of things, ranging from innocent to not-so-much that the person at the fountain could be, however none of those were currently of any true concern to the detective.
Out of habit, his fingers found their way to his lips as the detective toyed with the idea of telling a stranger in a strange place any of the details pertaining to the Kira Case.  Although, if he did not clear the reasoning, would Light talk too much trying to intimidate or impress the person?  Or would the pair be labeled as some kind of perverts or perhaps escaped criminals since it was handcuffs holding the two together. âFor a private police investigation.â  Also not waiting to have the question pushed onto him by either, or for an invitation into the conversation between Light and the other.

Hello there, for a late sort of intro This is only my second time rp-ing a super analytical character, and first time taking a swing at L so apologies in advance if heâs a little bit of a goober sometimes ;w; Heâll be bombing in Lightâs threads at times as the two are chained together (and Iâm still getting used to having a schedule that includes rp-ing), but donât feel obligated to wait or expect L to reply to a thread with Light-- as weird as that sounds kek Iâm excited to give rping âRyuzakiâ a go, though, and meeting new/cool people here B3c I hope to put out a starter call soon, if I'm able to time-wise ;;

It had appeared as though, amidst the current investigation into the identity of the mass killer, Kira, that somehow L found himself not in the remote building heâd had built solely for the investigation team, but rather in a small hotel room with no equipment or anything that would enable the investigator to further progress on the Kira caseâ Â not that he wasnât already fairly confident as to where it was going.
ຎtrange, to say the least.  As he tried to recall what his thought process at the time of the decision to change locations, he found himself unable.  However, there was one thing that was still a constant: the person attached to his right side by a sturdy metal chain and cuffs.  Ćorrect; he had placed the university male under 24/7 surveillance due to his own suspicions about the otherâs correlation to the case, thus it only natural that if L went somewhere, the brunet did as well, and vice versa.
Éxamining the two letters he was given upon waking up that morning, the use of sheep for delivery was the most interesting aspect of it all.  The first contained what appeared to be a simple greeting from an âAries and Stellaâ, explaining without giving any actual information, the readerâs current situation.  The second, explaining a job assignment.  Tennis Instructor.  While it was not a lie that L had won a tennis championship when he lived in England as a child, he would not have placed himself in such a position, unless it was part of an investigation.  Taking into Ćonsideration that he could not recall exactly when or why he had decided to come to âStella Cityâ, L mentally noted that perhaps the tennis aspect was part of what he could not remember.Â
âIt appears as though you have received similar letters, Light.â  Giving his companion nothing more than an upward glance from his position in one of the roomâs chairs, âIf I may, what are your thoughts on the matter.â
