Owen Grady was the most troubled person you knew, and it annoyed you beyond measure that he would not even open up to you, his best friend and colleague. You knew he was a private man, but ever since the happenings in the park, he grew even more to himself.

I tried to get a message to ya but you walked the other way

You had called him out one day as you walked past the raptor cages, asking him if you two could have a word. He agreed as he thought you just wanted some advice on how to better train your carno’s. when you asked him what was wrong, he stiffened and shrugged his shoulders, “nothing’s wrong (y/n). I have to get back to work,” he said and turned around before you could get another word out of your mouth. He could piss you off so much sometimes.

You just knew that he needed an extra little push in the right direction to get him to open up to you, which was exactly what you were planning to do.

“I just know that something is bothering you, Owen. I can see it in your eyes, and if I may be honest? It’s tearing me apart,” you said and saw something in Owen’s eyes change, “you can trust me, Owen. I won’t tell anyone and I promise I won’t laugh if it’s something stupid. Please, just… just talk to me. Maybe I can help.”

“Alright, but I can’t promise you that you will like the news,” Owen said, scrunching up his nose.

“Try me, Grady,” you smiled softly, happy that you got him out of his shell a little bit already.

“The reason why I’m being quite… distant… is because- because I erm,” he paused as he nervously scratched the back of his neck, “I like you?”

“you don’t sound very convinced yet,” you joked, butterflies filling up your stomach.

“No, no! I do know that I like you, I just have a hard time dealing with it, you know.”

“Let me guess, you have trust issues because somebody broke your heart a couple of years ago? Well I’ve got news for you Grady, I would never ever dare to break your heart the way she did, so don’t you worry about that.”

Ain’t much I can promise you, ‘cept to do the best I can

“I will try my best to open up to you, but you have to understand this can take a while,” Owen said.

“I know, and I understand. We have all the time in the world, there’s no need to rush into this.”

“There’s one thing I do want to rush into,” Owen smirked as you raised your eyebrows at him.

“Oh? And what might that be?” you challenged him.

“I want you to kiss me right now.” As soon as the words left his lips, your lips collided with his. They felt so soft, so desperate for love and you were more than willing to give him love. Your hands found their way up into his hair while he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer.

You had to break apart to catch your breath and you rested your head on his, “you kiss like a real bad boy, Grady, why don’t you show me how much of a real bad boy you really are?” you challenged.

“Hmm,” Owen smirked, looking you up and down. God, he made your knees go weak within a matter of seconds. You loved how he went from a private person, to an open book, all because of you. “I’ll show you how a real bad boy can be a real good man.”
