Dreamt about Grampy last night. He came home from the hospital. He wore his green sarong without his shirt as usual and his belly was big just like I remember. I cuddled him and we took a picture because I wanted to remember him. He smelled the same. I miss him.

Grief is crying while eating an Oreo because you remembered a clip from the eulogy video. And then you remembered how loved you were by your grandfather as a child. Grief is a terrible monster that I hate. Because death is permanent. And there’s not a damn thing I can do about it.

Can I rant? I need to rant.

I have family members and friends that work for the Postal Service in some capacity. I have always support USPS and use them as my primary shipper for all of my needs. We support them during peak service like the holidays. We gave them SO much support when this pandemic first started. And now, people are shitting on them for spotty service and delays. AND ITS NOT EVEN THEIR FAULT. THEY ARE UNDERSTAFFED AND LITERALLY GETTING DESTROYED FROM THE INSIDE BY PEOPLE WHO DONT CARE. 

The rhetoric of “this is why they’re going under”, “this is why we shouldn’t vote by mail”. I have voted by mail for every election (local, state, and countrywide) since I moved from home in 2012. I trust the Postal Service. I have a strange love affair for the Postal Service. They work hard and take NONE of my taxes.

I had a dream about my mom today. And I cried. As I always do. My cousin was there. And baby me was there. Mom and I talked. I can’t remember about what. But I remembered her voice. Ever since my grandpa died she’s been coming to me more. I’ve seen her 3 times in the past 3 months. That’s more in the last 26 years.

Speaking of the last 26 years. On my birthday I turned 29. I had a revelation. My mom died when she was 28. And was buried on her 29th birthday. I realized I was older than my mother. I remember not feeling very accomplished because she was married in a home with a toddler and another on the way. Then I scolded myself. I am accomplished. She helped me. I’ve been guided by her my entire life. I miss her so much.
