Taking my daughter Amy Verdellen she comes into my room every morning and tells me how many days till the concert it’s her 16th birthday present. I was introduced to Taylor by Amy it was her birthday wish to see Taylor Swift in concert when see came to New Zealand for the Red tour. I took her and her twin sister - I was a bit ‘the things you do for your kids’ but I was so impressed by Taylor - I think she was only about 24 at the time and wow what a professional performance and so talented. The album ‘1989’ came out and wow again, ‘shake it off’ ‘blank space’ ‘wildest dreams’ ‘out of the woods’ ‘style’ ‘bad blood’. All the videos were fantastic. We must have watched them over and over - I too think I had become a ‘swiftie’ Sadly Taylor did not come to NZ for that tour and as we live in Christchurch it was just far to expensive to go to Oz. But Amy’s birthday wish has been granted - we have tickets, airline tickets and accommodation booked. Sadly her twin sister isn’t coming as at the time of booking we didn’t know if she would have an NCEA exam that day☹️, but we will Snapchat her a picture of us having fun! Have just watched ‘Rep’ tour doco, Amy was just about in tears she was so excited. Amy has been doing a circular run and saving up since January as she has heaps of merchandise picked out she wants to buy - especially the snake ring.
