I became a Taylor Swift fan during the Speak Now era. I’d heard some of her singles on the radio and liked them well enough. But then I heard the song Ours and it spoke volumes to me. I listened to the rest of the Speak Now album (and eventually all of her previous discography) and was blown away (especially when I discovered that she wrote the entirety of Speak Now on her own). Never before had I felt a such connection to basically every song an artist put out (I mean have y’all heard The Outside?) Then, in the summer of 2011, since DMB wasn’t coming to town we decided to see Taylor instead. The Speak Now World Tour was the most enchanting thing I’ve ever seen. The stage, the costumes, Taylor walking through the crowd to play an acoustic set at a B stage at the back of the arena. I was enraptured. I needed a way to talk to others about it, a way to openly fawn over my new love of Taylor. So I got myself a twitter and have been a full stan ever since.

Every era since has had meaning to me. Red tour was the first time I ever traveled to another state (and on my own!) to see an artist. The 1989 era had me trying tumblr and I even managed a Taylor follow and a couple of likes. For the reputation tour I got to experience the swiftie mecca (seeing Taylor perform in Nashville). But the Speak Now era will always mean the most. It’ll always be the catalyst. Due to that, I decided to style my ‘Taylor tattoo’ into something that, to me, made me think of that time. Not only did Taylor use a koi fish designed guitar on the Speak Now b stage, but she also owned koi. If you’d believe it, inside of Taylor’s Nashville apartment, at the base of a spiral staircase leading to a human sized birdcage, in front of a mirrored fireplace, is a pond. It used to be full of koi. (Apparently the cats were afraid of the fish so she got rid of them. You’d think it’d be the other way around.) Due to this, I’ve always related koi fish to Taylor, specifically the Speak Now era. So today, on my 32nd birthday (Innocent says hello) I got this little tribute to Taylor Swift and everything she’s done for me. @taylorswift

I know the 1 has been claimed by the haylors and I fully support their interpretation and they can have the song but... when I listen to it I can’t help but think of JG and this is my interpretation as to why... (I understand if no one agrees with me I just felt the need to share)

• ‪a sibling to better man. example: “you would have been the one if you were a better man” vs “if my wishes came true, it woulda been you”

• “I hit the Sunday matinee” and “the greatest films of all time were never made” make me think of a past love who’s an actor

• “you really should’ve showed” is 10/10 tmik vibes

• and maybe these ^ thoughts being in my head lead to this next thought but “we never painted by the numbers baby” makes me think of how “losing him was blue, missing him was grey, but loving him was red”

• all too well -> wanegbt -> babe -> better man -> “in my defense I have none for digging up the grave another time” ...
