HOW IS IT

            that  she  can  always read the tension in his muscles && DISTANT gaze like the pages                   of  a  book ?  having  known  each other since only the day before the fall of their home,                   && he can almost SWEAR it’s as if she has known him since he was a cub . could it be                   that  he is simply too easy to read, or is she as keen as the very teacher who instructed                   her  ⎯  secrets  never  hidden  from  his sight, even when a little KING would be so sure                   he had conjured the perfect bluff ?                                                                   ❛     how can you say that ?     ❜                   his    question    is    silent,    bearing   a   FRAILTY  he   so   seldom   dares   to   show .                                                ❛     after all that’s happened, how can you ever keep PRETENDING as if                                                                 everything is going to be okay ?     ❜

                                                                       she was never BOTHERED by lion-o’s temper, especially after everything they’d been through together. she’d grown used to it. && it wasn’t like he was the only cat with an edgy personality. the way he speaks, rage sparks from his skin. she can’t feel it but she can hear it. the way one spoke, the way their eyes narrowed or twitched. the mannerisms used when responding. cheetara understood it all. jaga had taught her much about PATIENCE && other skills to become a cleric, but that hadn’t meant he hadn’t bothered teaching her social skills. && she may or may not have picked up a thing or two during her few years on the streets.

             ❛     you have to STOP thinking that way, lion-o. stop seeing the negative side                    of a situation.        we still have each other && that’s all we need in order to                    feel safe.     ❜

                                                                       cheetara was sure to speak GENTLY. if she spoke antagonistically, an unnecessary quarrel would begin. && that was the LAST thing they needed.
