today i rewatched on stranger tides and was able to draw many conclusions about jack's relationship with angelica:
in the scene where jack apparently jumps off the cliff in angelica's place, he only does so because he knew he would survive. before that, he was willing to let angelica jump, so why does sparrangelicas brag so much about the fact that he didn't let her jump and went in her place?
jack allied himself with barbosa because he felt guilty for causing angelica's suffering. even though he admitted to gibbs that he had "feelings" for her, he abandoned her. meanwhile, he proposed to elizabeth, and his compass pointed sharply toward elizabeth. for the first time, jack felt feelings he'd never had before for anyone (in the words of the screenwriters themselves). but unlike his relationship with angelica, he was willing to want and obtain elizabeth. unfortunately, elizabeth let him die, and this desire changed in the third film
jack may even "love" angelica, but elizabeth was the only woman who made him want to be with a woman. he wanted elizabeth because she was the only one who could deceive him. he wanted her because he'd never had feelings for anyone before, and this is more important, because he left angelica every time
"i've never been this drunk." well, you've been with elizabeth. in other words, no woman has ever been able to deceive jack, only elizabeth. that's why the script describes her as his EQUAL, who, like the sea, is stormy, and that's why jack fell in love with her

the fact that jack created this whole "romantic" scene just to trick angelica into knowing the fountain of youth ritual, he never needed to do that with elizabeth, yes I SAID WHAT I SAID
in other words, he wasn't being romantic; he just set up a whole scene with angelica just to find out what he wanted to know

it's funny that jack abandoned angelica the first time and never looked for her until SHE pretended to be him to gain his attention and then kidnapped jack against his will to go to the fountain of youth and in the end he ended up abandoning her again on that island and then in the fifth film we see that jack never looked for angelica again but in return he ends the film watching elizabeth and feeling jealous, this already says a lot about who jack truly LOVES

'I am your mother! Do you understand? All I do is worry and slave and defend you, and all I get back is that fucking face on your face! So full of disdain and resentment, and always so annoyed.' — Toni Collette as Annie in HEREDITARY (2018) dir. Ari Aster 'Where does all this ungratefulness stem from? How is it you find our life so beneath you? You've always had a roof over your head, food in your belly. Do you not think that came at great sacrifice from your father and I? Or do you think we are beneath you, too?' — Tandi Wright as Ruth in PEARL (2022) dir. Ti West

A lucky few survive a disaster. And then one by one… death comes for them all. You changed things on that bridge. There’s a wrinkle in reality. And that wrinkle is you.
