hence why shri’iia isn’t upset at all when astarion reveals that he was using her - she expected something like that! and frankly she welcomes it, she knows how good of an asset she is 😌💅✨ it’s the genuine falling in love bit that she didn’t expect, and she is unsettled by it bc she feels the same (that too is new to her)

shri’iia is very much more inclined to listen to/work with someone - and in an extent, trust them - if they’re suspicious or sly rather than someone who is showing her goodwill at the start. she’s more suspicious of someone who does things for charity because she believes everyone has their own ulterior motives, and she’s always expecting them to reveal their true intentions at every interaction hence why she’s more comfortable with someone who does have their own agenda bc at least they’re upfront about it (more or less). and she has a difficult time with accepting help that is freely given too, and she doesn’t believe anyone would help her in return not because she’s a solitary person but it’s more like such concepts never existed down in menzoberranzan — more so in the braeryn — so the concept is very alien to her.

overtime she’ll come to learn how to accept help and learn how to be less suspicious of people especially in her oathbreaker route, but shri’iia is really a very paranoid person that she has a skewed perspective when she interacts with other people, and the treatment she received from the matriarch only validated that perspective that it really takes a while for her to understand that not everyone will be out to harm her.

when i first heard about the male loneliness epidemic i was like oh yeah close camaraderie and bonding between men is often discouraged in favor of competition or, if not discouraged, at least filtered through a lens of individualism that precludes deep connections. and then i learned what people meant by it (men arent getting laid) to which i say skill issue

on one hand I do like the tents but on the other I like the concept of the group having no tents and they’re all sleeping awkwardly around the fire at the start, and everyone is in their own little corner trying to keep themselves warm but as the group becomes more friendly and closer with each other they’ll start sleeping together more and eventually everyone gets their own designated spot in the cuddle pile. I also like the idea that they’ll pick up camping gear along the way - like they would’ve scavenged spare pots in the druid’s grove, or they picked up bedrolls in the crèche or even the goblin camp, etc. and their campsite becomes a communal space filled with all sorts of things they picked up in their travels and everyone just gets their own little corner in the massive tent they all share. like that is so cute to me 🤭🤭🤭 everyone wanting a spot next to karlach bc she is so so warm, but no one wants to sleep next to astarion bc he runs cold. but early act 1 shri’iia using her long hair as a blanket is getting to me 😭😭😭 she just curls herself up and wraps her braid around her body bc she doesn’t have a cape or blanket 😭😭😭 but when she chops her hair off she can’t do that anymore 😔
