Summary:

“Facetime?” “I kinda missed your face.” “Missed you too. How was dinner with your dad?” “It was really good. He praised the meal, but he thinks I should get some real critics to help because he’s extremely biased.” “Rightfully so. You’re so good at this, I am sure he’s telling the truth.” “Tell that to fucking Adam.” She sighs and rolls her eyes. These are things she wanted to hear from him when she was actually at the Bear. “I’m sorry Syd. He’ll come around. He fucking better.” He adjusted the pillow behind his head, his bicep filling the screen. “Or what? You’ll beat him up or something?” “Nah you will.” “Dying to know what you are working on for the spring menu.” “A little of this and a little of that. Luca has some thoughts. I’m considering them. What are you working on for your friends and family?” “A little of this and a little of that.” She mimics him and they both smile at the other with incredulous amusement. “Luca’s not like you though.” “Well nobody’s like me so.” “You are correct. Guess I didn’t realize how special it was to have you here when I did.”

I feel like Sydney didn’t realize she had romantic feelings for Carmy until her panic attack in forever, paralleling Carmy not realizing he had romantic feelings for Sydney until his panic attack in omelette.

That doesn’t mean they didn’t have feelings for each other, I just think they didn’t recognize them as anything more until those moments. To me it informs a lot of their actions after the fact. Carmy is essentially ready to leave all his distractions behind to give Sydney what she wants because he realizes how important she is to him and what being the guy for her means.

You deserve my full focus. It shouldn’t have to be split.

We’ll see how Sydney moves around Carmy in s4 now that she’s had her own realization of just how important Carmy and the family they have it’s important to her.

It just feels like the one.

Part 7 in my fan fiction "posters" collection. This one ALSO went through many, many variations. It was inspired by spellbooks. (one of these days I''ll find a use for the anatomical correct heart I've downloaded for both "love spell" stories puppypuzzle's written).

season three was for the quiet yearner. because the way one person loves isn’t always (and often isn’t) the exact same way as another.

carmy loves loud. heart on his sleeve even if he prefers to push people away sometimes. custom chef coats and a promise to a woman that he is all hers. not being able to stand when she’s mad and trying his best to get to the bottom of it. insisting she accompany him to the ever funeral because more than that he wants her there with him, knowing who he’s gonna see there, she deserves to be there. it’s not an event worth going to if she is not there so this night can’t end until she says she’ll go. because she deserves to. carmy loves loud.

sydney loves quiet. she loves in caring and in silent gestures. widening the margins so that one person will be even a little bit more comfortable. getting all shy when he says she looks nice, not knowing what to do with the feeling. bringing him tea after he gets out of a freezing cold walk in and demanding he calls the other person in his life who is of the utmost importance. she loves in not being able to put a name to it, but knowing that she wants and wants and wants and carmen is the person at the end of the line for her. he’s it for her and she’s scared. sydney loves quiet.

there are so many parallels and red strings drawn between carmy and syd this season that are straight up impossible to ignore because they’re two halves of the same heart, legitimately incomplete without the other. and they’re on the verge of a realization, a big one.

yeah it’s meeting a person who changes your life, but more than that it’s meeting a person and not remembering what life was like before them.

love is always there even when you can’t put a name to it. it’s there.
