❛ -- DON’T do this. you saw what the grounders did to jasper. nobody’s gonna SKEWER you and leave you to DIE on a tree. ❜
DESPERATION seeps into his voice, in the look that gleams in is eyes.
❛ come back inside, and you can give them something to be AFRAID of. ❜
“For you. You run the place. Not for me, the tiny little no one who gets pushed, punched and threatened which bodily harm or worse. So the moment you can tell me that I am in no danger behind that wall is the minute I’ll go back in it. I fear the grounders less.”

the expression he wears is HAGGARD; dark circles encompass his eyes, fatigue taking as much of a TOLL on him as any- thing else.
❛ i’ll SLEEP when our friends are SAFE-- not now. but as long as they’re in there, i don’t plan on wasting ANY time. ❜
that was something she could definitely recognize. but you can’t PROTECT other people if you’re on the verge of passing out due to a LACK of sleep.

❛ and how much FURTHER do you think GRACE is gonna get you? this is WAR; lives will be lost. the sooner you admit that, the BETTER. ❜
the elf’s INDIFFERENCE only FUELS bellamy’s FERVOR & concealed disgust-- if retreating meant retaining his acclaimed GRACE-- then it was COWARDICE, bellamy believed, that tainted the KING.
❛ retreating ISN’T an option. not anymore. ❜

❝ G R A C E is one of the many ATTRIBUTES we do not SHARE. ❞
Pale features were familiarly EXPRESSIONLESS, d i s p l a y i n g close to NO INTEREST towards the ranger although, Thranduil U N D E N I A B L Y agreed with his STATEMENT.

just as CONSCIOUSNESS had trickled in & awoken him, PAIN begins to seep in, radiating across the en- tirety of his body in AGONIZING waves, waves that are met with grit teeth & clenched fists; he can handle this. he doesn’t want to be a BIGGER burden than he’s already made himself out to be with his mistake out on the battlefield.
the hand she encompasses gives a SLIGHT squeeze in return as more STRENGTH fills him & attempts at rolling over & sitting up, though futile, are made -- anything to make him feel less USELESS. with such a BURST of energy comes more WORDS, enabling him to speak more than he had just previously.
❛ i’m FINE -- a little sore, but still HERE. ❜
( a LITTLE was an understatement. )
it’s more than a a RELIEF to hear that his people are all alright.
❛ what about YOU, clarke? how are you holding up? ❜
immediately, Clarke felt her head begin to shake, denying the apology being sent her way because it was not needed. Bellamy had absolutely no way of telling the future or being able to prepare for what had happened, and neither had she. nobody was to blame for this but the Grounder who had shot the poisonous arrow in the first place – this was not Bellamy’s fault and not something she would allow him to try and apologize for. the hand that was tightly holding his own gave a reassuring squeeze as she forced her smile up upon her lips just a little bit m o r e , head still shaking before she shrugged her shoulders, a sudden overwhelming rush of emotions hitting her like a WAVE – an onslaught of things like relief, exhaustion, fear, anger – all came over her at once and Clarke wasn’t sure which one to place her full attention on first. instead of battling with a storm of emotional distress though, she chose to push them aside and finally s p e a k .
❝ Don’t apologize. None of this was your fault. ❞
there was more to that apology though, Clarke was very aware – leave it to Bellamy to immediately think of the downfall rather than the strides, but then again, he wasn’t aware of anything that happened after he had fallen either. letting out a heavy sigh, the blonde shifts just the slightest in the chair, ignoring the discomfort and letting the smile on her face fade away just the slightest bit.
❝ We only lost a few… but other than that, everyone is okay. The Grounders relented. We’re all just cleaning up and waiting for you to get better, now. ❞

the muzzle of his gun WAVERS just slightly, lowering toward the ground by a few mere degrees. but his TRIGGER finger remains poised & READY, prepared.
❛ if you need a break-- TAKE ONE. it’s been a long day, i get that. but lincoln WARNED us they were coming. until they do, i’m staying right here. ❜
❝ Bellamy face it— NO ONE is coming.❞
Her weapon stays lowered, they had been sitting there for M U C H to long. Raven knew Bellamy was o n l y trying to p r o t e c t their people but t h i s had gone on too long.

there’s some VALIDITY to her words, but there’s such a GATHERING acc- umulating now that agreeing with WHATEVER she said could DETHRONE him from the role he’s assumed with his own HARD work. agreeing meant weak- ness. he WASN’T gonna let that happen.
( they’re NOTHING like the privileged on the ark. )
❛ the ONLY innocent people are already on the ground. OUR ground. i’m not cl- aiming it as my OWN. it’s for US, for our PEOPLE. ❜
her biting CONFRONTATION is met with PURSED lips & grit teeth, a BOILING anger rising from within. the mention of the chancellor HITS just the right WEAK spots that his response is more defensive.
❛ at least i don’t EXECUTE people for having a second CHILD. ❜
A look of absolute shock plasters over her gentle features, his words fueling her with o u t r a g e. How he could allow himself to say such terrible things was shocking.
“ YOU would let innocent people die because you want the ground for YOURSELF! ”
Emerald hues cast a piercing gaze in his direction. She did not yet know his name but she knew he saw himself as their leader, and these c r i m i n a l s, were sure to f o l l o w his every command.
She stood from her seat, arms crossed over her chest, blonde curls bouncing slightly as she shook her head. Her lithe figure illuminated by the flickering flames of the campfire. Head held high she sauntered towards him. She stopped ONLY an arms length away from him. He towered above her, the top of her head only reaching the height of his SHOULDERS.
“ YOU’RE no better than the man that sent us down here. ”

❛ they LOCKED us up and sent us here to DIE because we’re ‘criminals.’ and that’s worked pretty well for you so far? ❜
he’s not going to ACCEPT being called a CRIMINAL, not anymore. they were so much BETTER than that DEROGATORY moniker.
“D’you use that line on everybody or do I look like the kind of idiot who’d fall for it?” She is a criminal, at least she accepts it. Too many people act like they were wrongfully imprisoned, for her taste. Blonde curls are brushed from her face, Emma looks up at him with a sigh. “Being what we are suits me just fine. Worked pretty well so far.”

❛ hey - ❜
she’s TERRIFIED, he knows that. ANYONE in their right mind would feel the same, facing an uncertain oblivion. that’s why he reaches for- ward with a COMFORTING touch upon her shoulder, hoping that it might get her to turn toward him.
❛ you GOT this. i get that you’re scared. fears are fears; NOTHING i say is go- nna change that. but you can either CONTROL them, or let them control YOU. use them to your advantage. i know you can. ❜

❛ i know. ❜
yeah, she KNOWS, but that doesn’t make it any less TERRIFYING. he is one of the few to whom she will show her FEELINGS, and FEAR is a rare one – but it’s all she feels right now. heart still RACING, she looks at bellamy and nods – JUST IN CASE.
❛ i’ll be back. ❜ i hope.

he DOESN’T think about it; he DOESN’T raise his eyes to the flickering screens -- he KNOWS what happens next, as the lever, guided by two hands that would soon know the invisible BLOOD that would STAIN them like a SCAR that never REALLY fades, lowers further & further until its track CEASES abruptly. although he avoids gazing upon the unfolding chaos, the GRUELING image is still SOMEHOW burned into his memory like a BRAND. although the security cameras have no audio capturing components, he can still hear their SCREAMS.
and then i’ll KILL everyone in this mountain. ( was that really their only option? )
the screams fade out, one by one, as their sources draw their final breaths. and though DOUBT enco- mpasses his thoughts, it’s the REALIZATION that it was their choice, HIS choice, that brought them to this morose outcome -- THEY had to deal with the consequences.
THAT’S what gets him moving immediately after. DWELLING wasn’t an option.
it’s the hand that is suddenly covering up her own that startles her out of the d i s t r e s s she was creating for herself, eyes falling to look at it – knowing very well whose it belonged to, and after a moment – after hearing that word leave Bellamy’s lips, she finally lifts her head to look up at him. as if she needs some sort of reassurance. needs to see his face. his eyes; and needs to know that he is willing to do this, as well. part of her wanted to be difficult – wanted to remove his hand from hers because she didn’t want Bellamy to have to live with this burden. Clarke had enough weighing on her already; she had done enough that if she did m o r e , it would only be affecting her in the long run. which was the point of it. it’s why she wanted to shake the grasp off of her own, but she couldn’t get herself to do it. it was firm, and the look in Bellamy’s eyes told her that he was NOT going to let her make that decision for him, either. no matter what she chose – people would get hurt. nobody was making it out of this mountain the s a m e .
her head drops down to look back at the lever before she’s finally breathing in slowly and forcing her arm to pull it down, the weight of Bellamy’s hand atop of her own the o n l y thing grounding her the moment the lever finally hits the bottom and STOPS.

EVERYTHING he had said & done -- it was a mistake he could NEVER forgive himself. it was BECAUSE of him that o ever had to BE here in the first place; like atlas, the WEIGHT of her world rested on his shoulders. & the one time he disregarded its fragility, their mother was FLOATED & octavia was TAKEN away. HIS RESPONSIBILITY.
there’s a certain SORROW in the touch he extends to her shoulder, as though asking for FORGIVENESS -- something he could NEVER put words to.
❛ this ISN’T on you, o. if you’re looking for someone to blame-- blame ME. but it’s NOT your fault. i didn’t ASK for it to ha- ppen, but it DID. let ME carry the con- sequence. ❜

what she wants to say, is that for the past year she’s been blaming herself for their mothers death, but all the while it should have been HIM. he had taken her out of the room, he had taken her to that dance; he had never shown her the way home. for a moment, she can’t bring herself to look at him, but the words he had spoken to her that night, those horrible, piercings words; ‘MY LIFE ENDED THE DAY YOU WERE BORN’ they’d stuck with her all this time. she peeks at him, from underneath wet lashes, teeth sinking into her lower lip to stop it quaking. “ yeah, you should’ve. mom died because i didn’t know how to get home, bell. because i left the room. “

❛ she’s the DAUGHTER of one of the most IMPORTANT people on the ark-- as long as they know she’s ALIVE? they’re going to RECLAIM the princess one way or an- other. as far as i’m concerned, i’d rather NOT take that risk. you get me? ❜
he retorts back with the STERNNESS of a DESPERATE man, twisting the other’s words to be used AGAINST him. his in- tent isn’t malicious -- it’s all about SELF PRESERVATION.
“Oh, yeah. ’Cuz she likes me so much.”
a snort. eggsy moves out of the way so that the next person wanting to be freed from the ark can get their wish granted. he still stays close to bellamy, however, given that their conversation isn’t yet over. at least not on eggsy’s end.
“It really matter if she keeps it on? I mean, if everybody else takes theirs off– Job’s still done, you get me?”

just for a moment, all he can hear is the DISTANT rippling of moving water from the lake’s drainage stream and the soft sighs & MOANS of wind caressing the tired bows of trees -- the oasis wasn’t quiet, it was ANYTHING but. it was ALIVE, enlivened with the sounds of WILDERNESS. it just lacked the human touch of VOICES... when he speaks, it feels as though he’s tainting some ethereal PRESENCE.
❛ good. that means we’re on the same PAGE. ❜
he kneels down beside her at the water’s undulating edge with EASE, watching her pale fingertips dance across its surface.
❛ you did GOOD here, rose. this can be our HOME now. ❜

♥ – The once ‘privileged’ redhead moved her gaze to the waters once more, fingertips grazing into the calming surface and rippling with every movement. Fiery coils slid from her shoulder to in front of her, tips inches from dipping into the lake. This was one of the times she actually looked like a princess from a storybook, lazily yet adoringly lost in something so simple, yet so lovely. Needless to say, there was quite a lack of bodies of water on the Ark. Even for people like her. She didn’t mind being called stupid for enjoying what was there, all around them, the giant garden of Eden that was there for them to survive & pick as pleased, & suffer the consequences when chances are risked. And she was one of them who dared to risk it. After all, why not? Her smile returned as soon as he spoke again, starting out almost as a coy smirk with a nod. “ – I don’t necessarily plan on being killed either.” Her smile was soft at the second part. Almost as if she took pride in her own little world she’d found in this wide new world they had all been sent to. “ – … I think so too. I couldn’t find anywhere nearly as nice as this. It’s even quiet, do notice that?”
