Although I gotta say, it's so funny how the format of using items to trade in events has caused the site to have 34 different currencies by now:
Treasure and Gems
11 elemental holiday currencies
16 NotN items
Prismatic token
3 Warrior's Way trade items
Dubloons
imagine you go to Spirit Halloween and you have to buy everything in arcade tickets. Imagine there's 15 different seasonal franchises that do that, but they each have their own tickets and won't accept anything else. what kind of purgatory
On my knees PRAYING for this new Ancient to be a product of Plaguebringer’s Hubris like how the Imperials are a product of the Lightweaver’s
Plaguebringer: You really messed up, Lightweaver. I can’t believe you let the Imperials come into being.
Lightweaver: What about your firstborns? I know the Mirrors aren’t the first. Where did yours go?
Plaguebringer: -sweeping a huge lump under her carpet- I’m sorry what? I’ve never made anything in my life before the Mirrors. The Mirrors are my only children.
The lump, under the carpet: We SuRvIvEd…..
Plaguebringer: -frantically beats lump with broom-
I always find it kinda interesting how Flight Rising decided to handle the problem of 'I don't want to just pick one but how do I design a winter holiday event for my game that includes everyone' by instead going 'Fuck it. Spooky mimic creatures event that covers half of December and includes absolutely zero winter holiday themes. You're welcome.' and imo it Works.
One of my favourite things about flight rising is how many unique and special dragon lore there is? Like it's so creative, every clan has a handful of dragons that are like "this dragon is haunted by ghosts" or "this dragon is three miths in a trenchcoat" or "this dragon is a chosen one who has saved many clans from disaster." Like I love it??? Everyone is just vibing, interpreting site lore however they want and discarding parts they don't and everyone is like "this is the most special dragon they have magical special powers" and is just having a blast? And it makes me so happy because everyone is getting to express themselves however they want and no one is shitting on them for it?
Also, it creates this hilarious scenario I love to think about every once in a while of like a dnd-seque party traveling through a standard clan, and telling their tales of woe and awe, and they'll be like "I was once caught in a forest fire, but instead of killing me the fires now live within me and I burn with a fire 100x stronger than any fireborn dragon." And the locals will be like "oh hey, that sounds like Steve! He's a farmer on the edge of town!" Or like "I am a runaway princess, forced to flee my home because my parents were murdered by tyrant traitors and I hope to one day reclaim what was lost" and the locals will be like "oh! You want help with that? We have a book club for heirs of usurped Royals!"
Like, the frequency of the unique and mundane mixed together makes for such a beautiful culture, and no idea feels overdone or cringey regardless of how many clans tell the same story, because they all have the same flavour to it and everyone understands we're all just messing around with our OCs anyways and all these stories are encouraged rather than spurned, and that's so rare to find on the internet where so many people are attacked for simply being passionate about something or creating something for themselves rather than an audience.
