Charlie is a 25-year-old disabled and autistic trans man in urgent need of your help. He is currently living in an extremely abusive household, where he faces continuous mistreatment. He’s being disrespected, restricted with basic needs, medical care and safety. And now, he is under threat of being kicked out, with nowhere to go and no means of support.

He’s already dealing with serious chronic illnesses (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, seizure disorders, POTS, mast cell disease, gastroparesis, ME, trigeminal neuralgia, a history of pulmonary embolism) and his mental health condition suffered deeply from years of trauma. (He struggles with conditions such as depression, generalized anxiety disorder, OCD, and CPTSD, as well as being autistic.) Living in this kind of environment is putting his life at risk.

Your help can give Charlie a real chance to escape this life-threatening situation and get somewhere safer, a place where he can rest, heal and actually live. Even a few dollars can make a difference. It could help cover emergency shelter, food, medical supplies and transportation.

One of my biggest pet peeves with Jim Kirk's fanon/fanfic characterization is how so much of the time he's depicted as stupid...not just because he's standing next to Spock for comparison, but straight up lacking intelligence.

And I gotta be honest it DOES rub me the wrong way sometimes. I do think a lot of it comes from this puritanical belief that, somehow, people who are charismatic and gregarious and extroverted and like to have a good time are *incapable* of being intelligent and that's just not true. VS Spock, of course, fills the "virtuous enlightened smart guy" stereotype (read: doesn't fuck, isn't sociable, has never been to a party, doesn't act out or misbehave, etc.) very naturally. It's easy for us as the audience to believe he's intelligent because of it.

But Spock and Jim are shown to be equally matched at every turn, and they have a deep mutual respect. Jim is NOT dumber than Spock, and I doubt Spock would be nearly as loyal to Kirk as he is if he held that opinion of him. I think where he and Kirk differ is that while Spock has the edge on Jim when it comes to encyclopedic knowledge and mental math, Jim is definitely more emotionally intelligent. That's why he's the captain, afterall.

Spock is often alienated from the crew because he doesn't realize he's talking over people's heads. And yet, we see time and again that Jim is 100% capable of following along with all the technical jargon Spock and Scotty throw at him!!! The fact that Jim talks to others on their level--in layman's terms, with familiarity and a sense of humor, allowing others the chance to be the expert in the room, listens to what they have to say instead of acting like he knows everything--is a CHOICE that he makes, deliberately, and is HUGE sign of emotional intelligence, not ignorance.

Anyway tl;dr it really grinds my gears when Jim is written like a dumbass who failed general physics or makes idiotic, reckless decisions and succeeds only on luck and the crew covering his ass at the end of the day. Actually, I think TOS Jim is one of the few well-written leaders in fiction because we ALWAYS see him weighing the opinions and insights of the experts in the crew before making a final call.

Someone who's genuinely intelligent but also self-secure isn't trying to be the smartest guy in the room all the time. To me, Jim is someone who lets his actions speak for themselves.

Snake cat romulans… snake cat romulans… Anyway infodump under the cut cause I wanna explain my design process for these beautifully beefy babies.

I've been really, really thinking about romulans recently. I think elegant vulcans are cool, but I want my romulans to be bulky and tough and large very large. Big paws big tail. And I want them to have scales like a snake on the base of their tails and on their hands and feet and be venomous, to mirror the poisonous claws of a le-matya. Cause I think the le-matya and the vulcans/romulans evolved from the same common ancestor. I know romulans aren't touch telepaths, but I thought it would be cool if much like a snake can smell with its tongue, they could like sense your emotions and read your thoughts in the air by trying to "smell" them by flicking their tongues. But it like weirds people out and its super obvious so they don't do it unless they're spying and hiding and being sneaky and evil (cause they're the bad guys /pos I love them so much they're so smart and cool) Transcribing the words on the image: Vulcan: - Side facing ears - Thinner, more elegant tails - Flatter feet, smaller claws

Romulan: - Forward facing ears - Second set of retractable teeth (retractable + venomous) - Psi sensitive tongues - Tail used as weapon in melee combat Both species see in the dark Sensitive ears can hear across long distances/through walls Long claws (non retractable) on hands and feet) Waterline and top eyeline are black, functions as a natural kohl eyeliner in the desert Long arms allow to run on all 4's, typically done only in combat
