As of today, January 31st...
...I’m not going to be using this blog anymore.
Normally, I’d would use it to reblog my content and maybe post a few other things, but it’s a lot better to just stick to my main blog.
Find me there!

The #cutiesaturday stream went well! The result: Ui Wakana from Okusama ga Seitokaichou! Or in English, “My Wife is the Student Council President!”
It is an… interesting show. And by interesting, I mean it’s lewd.

A bit of “poetry” about how I view my bed sometimes. It’s complicated, I guess?
The feelings, I mean. The words are whatever you make it out to be.

You believed in Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. Now believe in Steven!
I finished up my latest drawing, after 4 days on the new job.
Always good to find some time to draw. :D
THOUGHTS:
I really did this on a whim, and I’m glad at the end result. I wanted to do something different with shadows, but I ended up doing my usual soft shadowing. I do want to try it out when I can.
Check out the full res version, and buy the sticker on Redbubble!
(I almost enabled clothing, just as an experiment…)

If Cree Autumn had ever an album or EP, that kind of title would fit so well. Had a lot of fun doing a bit of a redesign of the character, originally crafted by @geeligans-i-land for Star Melody - she looks a hell of a lot more jazzy as she should be. THOUGHTS: Working with Cree’s color scheme can be an eyesore at times. It clashed really hard with my usual lineart color until I darkened it. The difficult part was anatomy (fixing the shoulders), and adding in the extra detail for the pants. There is a variant with Cree herself with no text, check that out here.

Princess Carolyn truly is something special. She works super-hard, loves her job, and always lands on her feet. I’ve always enjoyed her screen time, and honestly, I want the best for her. It’s a pity managing BoJack Horseman, but she does it anyway.
THOUGHTS: Carolyn took some time, since I had to mesh a few poses together, plus fix a lot of odd bits. The color came out quite well, though I had to be very observant of it escaping the lines a bit. Shading was alright too, sticking to my usual formula. In the end, I felt I did a pretty good job with her, and I’m really hoping to do another BoJack Horseman character soon.

Back in the 90’s, this guy was a household name. Of course nowadays, he’s the scum of the earth. For multiple reasons. Just go watch BoJack Horseman, it is a fantastic show that’ll make you laugh and feel at the same time, probably.
THOUGHTS: I marathoned this show with my girlfriend a few weeks ago, and I am hooked. Honestly, I just stuck to my guns here on color and shading, as well as using the stabilizer for cleaner lineart. My only gripe’s with the hands. I had to redo the middle finger three times, and I was lazy with the other hand. I had fun with this, really.

Been on a solid glitch art kick as of late.
Decided to work on something a bit more… home-y. Not like the subway is my home, but it sure as hell reminds me of it a lot.
So yeah, give it a view or two. Welcome to 86th Street.
Datamoshed with the Avidemux 2.5 program! So much I-frame plucking, as well as errors with getting the video in a proper video format.
Music spliced together and altered in weird ways on Audacity. Used Movie Maker to add the BGM. It’s on Soundcloud, since I haven’t used that in forever.

Been getting back into glitch art after not doing it for a while.
The original image is fanart I did for this rad game called VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action. The character (Anna) is very mysterious, and tends to glitch in-game for reasons unknown. ;)
Glitched with two Processing programs (ASDF Pixel Sorting and ChannelShiftGlitch) + the image glitch experiment.
Music was altered via Audacity.

That was a great one-hundredth episode, am I right? I figured that I would eventually draw Bismuth, so I opted for the pivotal scene where Steven stabs through her with Rose’s sword in self-defense. It was really weird to see a new Crystal Gem dropped in so suddenly, but I guess she’s a bit too hardcore. Oh well.
THOUGHTS: I think the prevailing thoughts going into this drawing were straying from the expectations of copying the resource, and improving my color. For the sketch, I tried to go for a weird free sketch where I just drew without stopping and only having momentary glances. The result was very admirable, and while it’s not as different as I imagined, it’s a first step to branching away from directly replicating the show down to the last detail. The color here was a continuing experiment with using the multiple and lumi&shade effects to my advantage. For Steven, it came out beautifully. Bismuth’s was a bit half-baked, sadly. In the end, I think I’ve found a comfortability in my coloring style where I start with base colors and apply shadow and lighting. I mean, it’s the norm for some, but my earlier ways were a lot more convoluted.

Hey, shake a leg! It’s Mr. Greg! And Pearl! And Steven!
Yeah, I finally finished up the coloring of this piece after leaving it in the oven for about a week. Pretty cool, right?
Also, can you believe this is the first time I’ve gotten to draw Pearl? Steven has popped up numerous times, and Greg as well (in his younger form), but never Pearl…
THOUGHTS: Another instance of a piece being in the oven for a while. For some reason, I just wasn’t in the mood to color – well, every other time, I’d get distracted. My Windows 10 updated today, and SAI looked very zoomed out. I think it’s a display issue, and I’m unsure if there was a way to fix it. Other than that, my lines looked quite jaggy as I added color, which had me slightly frantic. I also rushed the shadows a fair bit, since I was getting fatigued. To be completely honest, I’m gonna refrain from drawing like this - not that it’s bad, but I really need to branch out and innovate with these redraws, rather than doing a 1:1 recreation.
It’s a habit that has plagued me for about a year since I started to get serious with digital art, and it needs to change.

Perhaps one of the sweetest little shows I’ve seen this year, Uchuu Patrol Luluco was a trip throughout its run in the spring anime lineup. Jab it with doses of absolute madness from Studio Trigger, and it’s a pretty awesome short anime. Enjoy the pairing of Luluco and Alpha Omega Nova!
THOUGHTS: This piece was in the oven for a really long time. It was the first time I used a certain procedure (using DesignDoll to pose figures, as per this tutorial from @mylittledoxy), and also, I spent a lot more time on the color than I have done for any other piece. It was an exercise in using the screen and multiply effects to my advantage for shadows, and though it looks weird, I dig the appeal of it. At best, I’m glad my work isn’t flat. I’ll continue to work on that as time goes on.
