Eddie had to agree. He’d though that Kyle was cute for a while, but this sheepishness was definitely adorable. And more than a little bit appealing. It was hard not to chuckle as Kyle hid his face and leaned against the wall. 

“Is that so?” he asked, the amusement clear in his voice. It was fun to tease him a little, see what his reaction would be. “Well, if you ask nicely, who knows what you might get.”

Kyle was still blushing, flushed as he glanced up to the older man, bit his lip. And slowly stepped closer.

“Well, then. Ah.  Would you mind?” Kyle huffed, bracing himself and glancing up. Not like he hadn’t embarrassed himself enough already. “Can I give you a blowjob? If you’re, ah. Into that?”

He was honestly a little surprised to hear Kyle admit it. They didn’t know each other super well, but the younger man was cute. Cute and shy. So, seeing him blush like that as he finally met Eddie’s eyes was more than he’d been expecting. In a good way, though.

He grinned wider as he turned to face the younger man, letting him get as good  look as he wanted. “Yeah? And what do you want to do about that?”

“I should probably say something sweet like ask you out on a date. And uh. I’d totally go for that. But you are naked and wet and in the showers and we’re alone and-” Kyle stammered, flushing furiously as Eddie just  grinned at him like that.

“I’m honestly thinking about my mouth on your dick,” he blurted out, and then his eyes went wide, and he groaned, half covering his face with his hand as he struggled not to literally combust, leaning against the shower wall.

Eddie closed his eyes, enjoying the way the water felt on his face and chest. The communal showers at the gym were pretty nice, honestly, especially at this time of night when there weren’t many people there. It was just him and Kyle.

Speaking of. He caught the younger man watching him from the corner of his eye. It amused him a little bit. He glanced over, a smirk beginning to pull at his lips. “Like what you see there, kid?”

There was a lot to say about Eddie, not that Kyle knew him that well, mostly just from the gym, they’d run into each other at the cafe a few times. Eddie had made a comment about some of his art once.

But well. The man was huge. And gorgeuos.

And totally catching him staring. Kyle blushed, slowly, clearing his throat. And flicked his gaze up, meeting Eddie’s.

“Yeah, yeah I really do,” he admitted, sheepishly.

Flash nodded slowly, already beginning to drift off. He was asleep before much longer. 

When he woke up, the ship was stopped. Rubbing his eyes tiredly, he climbed to his feet, looking around before moving to the window and glancing out. “Uh… Hey, Aegis? What’s going on?” There was a bunch of ships out there, lined up like they were awaiting battle. What exactly had his partner gotten him into?

This is one of our Fleets. There is an Empire, one full of corrupted klyntar. Those who do not wish to return to the fold. Who wish to pillage, to use up their hosts as little but fodder.  Aegis thought powerfully, appearing faintly in Flash’s reflect against the window, looking out with him. Slowly sliding almost completely apart from Flash, bound only by a strand allowing him to remain as Flash’s legs, Aegis stood beside him. “Aegis is in charge of this fleet. We have enjoyed our time as any other Agent, but we know you may not be happy. We thought you might find this more amenable. This is...this is my post, Flash Thompson. I have been taking a leave of absence with you. But I wanted to show you my duties. We fight the Empire. We keep the Cosmos safe. We save planets and liberate them. And with me, if you wished. We have command. We answer to none but the needs of the Cosmos.”

South of Klyntar? He hadn’t been there since the trial with Venom. It would be good to be there under better circumstances, but he had no idea what might wait for them in that sector of space. “Yeah, we can hang out there for a while. See what’s going on.” 

He had a feeling Aegis wasn’t telling him something, but he’d go with it for now. He trusted his partner. 

“Did you give the coordinates to 803?” he asked with a yawn.

I did. Rest for awhile, Flash. Sleep, we should be there when you wake. Aegis thought towards his new partner, voice calm despite a somewhat nervous feeling.

By the time Flash did wake, they were indeed there. Floating amidst a small fleet of ships of obvious Klyntar inspired design and construction, arrayed in neat rows  around a moon.

A new partner, one he’d been getting along with swimmingly - save for one small problem. Aegis was an Agent of the Cosmos, and Flash wasn’t sure he wanted to be a part of that anymore. He wanted to not answer to anyone other than himself anymore, even if he still, ultimately, wanted to do the same things he had as an Agent. It was, ultimately, a very small problem, and for now, he was good with going along with things. 

He was just happy to be on a ship again. He liked it out here in space. They had a small ship, and they just needed to build up their crew. They already had one - 803, the robotic navigator who had joined Flash before had been happy to join him again. 

Flash was laying on the (sadly not very comfortable) futon in the common room of the ship, half dozing. “So where are we heading first?” he mumbled to his partner, eyes still closed. 

A sector of space you haven’t been before, Flash. Galactic South of Klyntar. There is...something you might like seeing. And I would like to spend time there with you, for as long as you might wish to remain an Agent.

Very little slipped past Aegis, but he hoped, perhaps that exposing Flash to some of his usual responsibilities might rekindle a desire to be here. The good they could do.

Aegis was an Agent, of course. But he had rather more authority than most, and it hadn’t come up. He’d been enjoying doing solo fieldwork as he got to know Flash, as they learned to work together.

Eddie smiled faintly and shrugged, breaking off a piece of brownie and popping it into his mouth. “I guess I just got used to drinking it.” The truth was, black coffee was cheap and often all he could afford. And after drinking it so much, he just sort of got used to it.

“So, what is it you do?” he asked, looking for something else to talk about. 

“I’m an editor, with uh, one of the larger publishing houses. Do sci fi and fantasy mostly, genre work. I enjoy it,” Rosa said, smiling readily at him as she took a nibble of her own brownie.

“What about you?”

Automatic, or they weren’t the only ones there. Apparently, he and Aegis had the same thought as the symbiote slid up over his head, growing in size around him. At the suggestion, he nodded, moving cautiously toward the closed door. Cautiously, he pressed the button to open the door.  It slid open slowly. The hallway beyond was empty and dark. The lights, at the very least, were out in that section of the ship. 

Feel anything?

Heat, but it might be from fires, electrical conduits. Don’t hear anything beyond, well. The whole ship was making sounds, groans and hisses and other noises as they inched forward.

And then-

Movement, left corridor. No visual, air current. Aegis reported professionally, he had millenia of interpreting his senses, and more than one suite of supersensory abilities he was dialed into from many hosts.

Well, he wasn’t about to argue. He wasn’t doing as bad with money as he had in the past, but he generally didn’t turn it down when someone offered to pay for him, especially not when it was something as simple and cheap as a cup of coffee. “Thanks, then,” he answered, following after her to a table. 

“Yeah, pretty much live on the stuff.” He chuckled as he slid into a seat. 

She made a playfully exaggerated face of disgust in response to the coffee, shaking her head as they settled down.

“I don’t know how you manage that. Caffeine’s caffeine, I suppose. But anyways, this place is one of the best as far as you know, working out of and things. It’s quiet, good everything, but doesn’t get too crowded. I come here pretty often.”

Familiar with symbiotes, he found it rather comforting to have Aegis cover him the way he did. Flash had no suit or anything to protect him if they came to an area where the life support was damaged or anything like that. It’d be all too easy for cold or lack of oxygen to get him with the state the ship was in. 

“I think I remember the way back to the cockpit, the command station should be somewhere near there,” he answered, glancing around before pointing to a closed airlock. “That way. But I don’t think that was closed before.”  

That probably wasn’t a good sign. 

“It was not. Meaning it was automatic...” Aegis said, trailing off.

Automatic, or they had missed some pirates. Who might still have sonic weapons, or fire.

Aegis slid completely over Flash’s head, securing his flesh and swelling, making sure there was plenty of dense symbiote flesh in between Flash and the world. “Let’s go, then. Take the lead, I’ll keep our senses out to react? We’re strong enough to push through.”

Cutie? Eddie chuckled softly at the sound of of his other’s half-amused, half-outraged voice in his mind. 

“Just a black coffee and a brownie for me. But you really don’t need to get it. You’ve already helped me out showing me this place.” 

“I already told you it was on me,” Rosa said, asking for his order and smiling at the barrista. It was just a moment before she was turning around and handing him his brownie on a little plate and sliding past to find them a table as they waited for their drinks.

“And you really drink the stuff black? I can never manage it. I much prefer things a bit too sweet, honestly,” she said with a grin.

It didn’t take long before Rosa was stopping at a coffee shop. Eddie found a spot to park and slipped out, heading up to the front to meet her and smiled. He reached past her to take the door and hold it open for her. 

Brownies! 

He chuckled softly and nodded to himself. “We’ll have to try something,” he told Rosa, still feeling the surge of excitement from his other. “Thanks, Rosa.”

“Of course, no problem, Eddie,” she said, sliding past him and grinning as she made her way in, she ordered the equivalent of a frappucino, along with a brownie.

And then she turned, glancing behind her. “And what would you like, cutie, brownie too?”

He didn’t mind as Aegis walked them through the ship, figuring that the symbiote knew the place better than he did. They’d have to work together to get out of this, so he didn’t mind letting the symbiote do what was more in his wheelhouse. 

Which, on this spaceship, was pretty much everything. 

“Uh… nothing.” Oops. 

“I too am no engineer. Hmm,” Aegis said, sliding securely over Flash’s skin as they walked through the ship. 

It was best to be prepared, especially when walking through damaged areas. 

He didn’t cover Flash’s head, however. Looking out of the human’s eyes at everything. “If we can find the part of the ship dedicated to communications I might be able to interface, however.”
