download a bundle of tabletop games at 3 am

find a giant pdf labeled "act one"

it's a game played by only exactly three people on different levels of reality.

you also play alternate universe versions of your characters on different levels in reality

secrets in the book are written in mirror writing

the whole book is an in-universe preserved text by someone in a different universe

i am so into this game.

best thing i've ever read.

i tell all my friends about it the next day.

"sounds cool, what's it called?"

i can find no evidence of this game.

i can find no evidence that this game ever existed.

i'm not even sure what bundle it was in.

all my friends develop the theory that this game is a dream i had.

they tease me about The Time Bird Dreamed An Entire TTRPG That Could Only Be Read In A Mirror

are there any other ttrpgs youd say are a good example to look at as games written in a specific register or as an inworld character?

Even in its an example that seems obvious; I'm coming from the wargaming side where its often attempted but rarely done well, turnip28 is one I know of that properly has fun with it, so I'm interested to see examples of rulebooks that actually pull it off

umm off the top of my head, nobilis is fantastic about this. in 3rd edition there's a villain whose statblock is not included because he helped the fictionalized jenna moran write the rulebook and so she refuses to reveal his secrets.

paranoia's rulebook is filtered through the same funhouse mirror jorjorwel lens as the rest of the game, with sections of the rulebook that are considered treasonous for the player's to to read

praise the hawkmoth king is interspersed with little tips from 'hawkmoth-chan', the cutesy mascot persona of the titular hawmoth king, which are all uniformly monstrous and evil things to suggest presented in the tone of a skyrim loading tip with a cute kaomoji at the end

you will die in this place is a house-of-leaves/beginner's-guide style narrative framed as one character presenting another character's work after editing and annotating, switching between rules text, footnotes, and notes from the first character's editor

and not to toot my own horn, but most trusted advisors is deliberately written in a sneering, slightly conspiratorial register, a blackadderseque peanut gallery member inviting you to join in with its derision for the player characters.

So considering all of the heresies around the different interpretations of the trinity, has anyone proposed it as a like, triadic sign? God as the Object, Jesus as either the Sign or Interpretant and the Holy Spirit as whichever one jesus isn’t?

You know I'm not sure, but you're kinda cooking here. Christ as component of the godhead capable of observing the object of God through the sign of the holy Spirit. That's got some sauce. Reminds me of the martinist conception of Christ as manifested Tikkun Olam. In the sense that Christ is a perpetual force which acts upon the godhead.
