I am sorry.

I'm not quite good at making long winded rants or paragraphs so I'll try and keep it sort and to the point.

I greatly respect our nations armed forces, RCMP, law enforcement, and all other branches of emergency services (as there are probably more than I could list or know about, considering my location). I am proud to call myself a Canadian. I am proud to call the soldier who lost his life today a hero.

If I appeared to be cruel or uncaring, I'm not. If it seemed I am unphased by the deaths of others, maybe I am. People die. That's how it should be, that's how it's always been. I don't like death, but I have learned to accept it, just as these soldiers - who put on their uniforms each day, knowing the risks - do. It isn't about the fame, it isn't about being honorable, it's about keeping your friends and your loved ones safe.

There will be assholes somewhere who won't care. I'm not one of them. I have been affected by this event, even if I use a cover of humor to surround it. If I had a choice between if this event happened and if this event didn't happen, you bet your life I would wish it didn't happen. But life's life.

That's just how it goes.
