Hi! You're listed as the reference for https://pluralpedia.org/w/Oneiroway_System and I was hoping you could clear something up for me. Was the concept here similar to gateway systems or dreamways but for night dreaming instead of day dreaming? Or am I misreading?
Hello hello!
Basically it’s that an oneiroway system gains members when they sleep, through dreams. It doesn’t necessarily need to be at night when it happens. Daydreams happen when you are awake and dreamways gain members through daydreams. An oneiroway system gains headmates from dreams during sleep.
Does that make sense?

Ah well that’s complicated tbh. We made the term to describe an experience we have. When we added it to pluralpedia, we left it intentionally vague but did add the gateway tag. The issue is that we don’t have an innerworld and one of the aspects of gateway systems is having an innerworld. We imagine that most systems that acquire headmates through dreams would be gateway systems but we aren’t specifically.
So to answer your question more directly, yes we consider it a direct correlation to dreamway and also the method of entry, for our system, is through introjection.

Just throwing in our own two cents, the whole system is not at fault for what one alter did. The whole system is responsible for what happens after.
Entirely different concepts and executions. It’s not collective punishment, it’s collective responsibility.
Ok so… in response to this poll that I made last night, why is the entire system at fault for what one alter did?
Because if everyone was their own separate person outside of the system, then the blame would be placed on that one person who fucked up.
You wouldn’t go around blaming their friends, family, and entire social group for what they did, right? Or would you?
Because last I checked, the only person responsible for someone’s actions is themself in the end. You can try to sway them, you can manipulate them, you can convince them, but ultimately they have a final say in their actions.
At least that’s what I’ve been taught.
So please enlighten me on why the entire system is at fault for the actions of one alter? I am just trying to learn why so I can try and better myself and keep all of my headmates from being at fault for my own stupid actions. /gen

Imagine my shock as a neurodivergent teen when I first realized that using large vocabulary and eloquent speech doesn't make you less likely to be misinterpreted, rather it adds an entirely new layer of misinterpretation I had never even realized existed in the form of people thinking you're being snobbish or condescending when you're just trying to be specific

One funky thing about the way some of us join the system is through dreams. Dream headmates are a similar concept, and we do have a few of those, but most of the time when we gain a member through dreams it’s different.
We think it has to do with the way we dream. Sometimes in our dreams, we become different people, we live entire days, weeks, months as someone else. It’s as if everyone left front and this new person, the perspective viewer of the dream, is now in front and we now live as them. When we dream like this, we are not any of ourselves, we are someone new, someone else. And sometimes, we don’t gradually wake back into ourselves like normal.
Sometimes the person who wakes up is the person we lived as in our dream.
Whether they stay or leave appears random.
Unlike dream headmates, new members do not follow the dreamer out and no one is able to control or seek out headmates through dreams.
We’re definitely not a dreamway system since we are no longer a neuronarrator but we like to call ourselves a “dreamingway system”

We are all for traumagenic and disordered only system spaces. It’s important to have those communities. Just as it is important to have communities that are inclusive to all. Though the lines should only be placed by the systems themselves, mixed systems exist and should have access to the spaces they need.
What sketches us out is when the space is traumagenic or disordered only, and it allows singlets to join.
How would singlets benefit from a traumagenic or disordered only system space, genuinely? If it’s so that they can ask questions, why aren’t non-traumagenic or non-disordered systems allowed? Even if they were a questioning system, how do you know if they are traumagenic or disordered? If they discover they are a system but their origins or functionality are “wrong” are you going to just kick them out?

shoutout to systems with only a few members that front, even if that's only one member. no matter how big or small your system is, no matter how you count how many of you there are. your experience is real because you experience it. our brains are very complex and weird and there's no reason your experience is "wrong" or "invalid." you don't have to live up to anyone's standard. you can just exist. all of you.

understandable not to ask what your race is! but its honestly pertinent to the conversation whether youre visibly POC or not and whether youve experienced name-specific racism. like if youre going to laud yourself as a system of color i think its only fair to ask if people percieve you as such.
If that is what you want to know then ask that but that’s not what they asked. They asked us what race we are after we said in the post that it isn’t safe to give it out and asking is dangerous. We would be in physical danger if people irl knew we were a system. We don’t give out personal information just like that. We can sort of pass as a singlet but we can’t hide our race.
We are not white passing. We are not “lauding” ourselves as a system of color. That’s an incredibly rude way of saying that we identified ourself as a system of color.
We have never been seen as anything other than a person of color. Our skin color, our eyes, our nose, the shape of our face, everything that makes our body our race tells people that we’re foreign, we’re dangerous.
We don’t have a culture-specific name specifically because our parents didn’t want us experiencing name specific racism. Our last name is foreign enough to confuse people. We live in a country where names matter, where people are dismissed because of their names so our parents chose to give us a beautiful name with no connection to our country of origin.
Despite all our parents’ effort, we still were called slur names. People still assumed that our name wasn’t ours.
The main reason we made that post is because we are trans and have headmates who have names that can’t they use for safety reasons (like too close to our body’s name).
We know the grief involved in knowing your name and not being able to use it.
