Sabo never mentions this to Luffy and it’s just as well because Sabo knows Luffy would basically never take him up on it. But here’s the thing. He isn’t saying this to Luffy, he’s saying it to a Navy Admiral. Sabo is the second highest ranking member of an entire army dedicated to bringing down the World Government. If he ever did decide to bring the full force of that army to his brothers defense the only man who could stop him is Luffy’s own father. This is not a statement the Navy could take lightly. This is basically Sabo saying “You want another Marineford? Because that’s how you get another Marineford.”

thought about sanji groveling to zeff at the end of baratie as a sign of respect and appreciation for loving and taking care of him when he set sail with the straw hats and sanji pulling down judge to eye level when declaring he has no right to call himself sanjis father because he is not. making himself small and bow his head to show appreciation to the man who raised him and bringing down the man who abused him to eye level so he can disrespect and denounce their relationship. because zeff made him feel important so he wanted to show his unending appreciation by making zeff feel important and judge made him feel worthless and as such the ultimate disrespect to would be to bring them truly eye to eye instead of sanji being physically looked down upon. making a king feel unimportant and like he is on the same level as the child who left he despises. i am so unwell

Thinking about this moment constantly. Vash calls Knives out for causing the Fall out of fear rather than the simple disgust he’s claiming, and Knives immediately lashes out with violence while insisting that Vash is the fearful one.

He spends the entire series repeating this sentiment - that Vash is soft and gullible, while Knives is rational and self-possessed - despite all the evidence we’re given that it’s the other way around:

Vash is the pragmatist. Even before they found Tesla, he understood that coexisting with humans wouldn’t come easy. Calling his willingness to actually commit to the struggle for peace gullibility is a deflection so Knives doesn’t have to interrogate his own motivations.

It’s also relevant to note that Vash was not originally all that invested in humans as a collective:

He was satisfied with his family of three and a bunch of chronostasis pods (and Ship 5’s Plants). His Eden already existed. And while “neither do you” suggests that he thought Knives felt the same, Knives didn’t confirm this assumption. Instead, he focused on life after the humans woke up, and whether they could be friends.

Which only makes it more obvious that his stated desire for a ‘more beautiful world’ without humankind is a rationalization of his terror of being hurt the way Tesla was hurt (the way so many others are hurt to further his plans).

TL;DR - Knives repeatedly calling Vash a humanpilled fearmaxxer is blatant projection and almost comedic when you remember his character profile specifically notes his low tolerance for pain:
