Wrapped around your finger(Kafka x Reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: Reader can be any gender. Completely SFW. Implied Blade x Reader. This is also posted on AO3 under "Wrapped around your finger" title. This was written before the 1.2 livestream so I had no idea about the lore, really. Alright, I'm done, have a good read, darling! <3
They have been gone for a long while. Longer than Blade said they would be.
You sat quietly on top of a small desk at a Stellaron Hunter hideout, biting your nails, incessantly thinking about your beloved comrades. Two in particular. The ones closest to your heart.
Fuck romantic attraction, you actually loved them. You didn't know when it began, but over all the time spent and all the missions you have gone on together brought the three of you extraordinarily close, which left the other hunters wondering who dated who exactly. No one asked though, they never did. Rumors continued to fly around nevertheless. Rumors which left you out of the equation, as if you were a less important member of your little group. Forgotten.
They left together for Xianzhou Luofu. They were supposed to be back last week. The last pieces of intel you got were that they have gotten caught. All according to plan.
But why weren't they back yet?
You could almost tear your hair out from the piled up frustration.
It's fine. They have each other, afterall.
You were on the verge of tears, all the stress and worry taking a toll on you, by the time you heard her voice.
She strolled into your peripheral vision, a head of magenta with glassy eyes to match, gazing only at you.
"Are you that worried about loverboy and I?" she asked, a small smile gracing her painted lips.
You turned your head to fully look at her and felt as if a large weight was taken off your chest.
Your relief could only last so long, however, as you noticed her lacking your companion. Wherever Kafka went, Blade followed close behind. So why…?
She must have seen the question in your eyes, as she shushed you and pulled out a chair to sit at the table you were situated on. Her eyes were fixated on yours the entire time.
"Don't worry so much. Bladie just has some personal business to take care of." And she said that so calmly, but her tone also had a hint of amusement to it.
"Are you having fun watching me worry my ass off?" you snapped, a tear running down your cheek now as you finally broke.
She reached over and placed a gloved hand on yours. Her smile softened, her face dropped her usual mask reserved for business. She didn't need it around you.
"Thank you for worrying. Really. It shows how much you care about us." She started rubbing circles onto your wrist now. Her reassurance only made you cry even harder, which caused her to abruptly stand up from her chair and pull you into a tight hug.
"I'm sorry," she whispered as she gave you a little squeeze with one of her arms and took her other hand up your spine to tangle it into your hair.
"Anything could have gone wrong," you muttered and sniffled. "I know this is our work and that I should just get used to it by now, but this time I just… I had that terrible feeling."
You breathed in the familiar scent of her shampoo, calming down a little now. A minute later half of your sorrows were forgotten.
As your sobs quieted, she pulled back a little to look you in the eyes, then pressed her forehead against yours, your noses touching. Your breathing regulated as you both shared the same air.
"Kafka," you murmured her name to which she seemed to purr in return.
"What are you, a cat?" you chuckled softly, your voice breaking mid-question.
"You are more worthy of the title of a kitten," she whispered then bit her lip in order to tease you. This was a common occurrence between the three of you. Nonetheless, it made your heart flutter. Stupid romantic feelings. An unnecessary addition to your relationship.
You didn't notice your cheeks reddening at her comment.
"Oh, so the nickname works with me too, huh? You always react this way when Bladie calls you kitten," she pondered as she brought a hand up to hold your cheek. She was never this touchy and it was killing you. "Next thing we know, you'll end up liking me too, hmm?" she offered. She didn't know it, but she couldn't be closer to the truth.
Staying quiet now would be suspicious. Say something!
"Uh," was all you managed.
A mischievous smile was blooming on her face soon enough.
"Oh, but you wouldn't do that, would you? You must be insanely loyal to him," she pinched your cheek and continued, "don't let him fool you. He really does care about you," she whispered the last part with a tinge of something in her tone that you couldn't decipher.
That same thing in her voice was also hidden in her eyes. Had you known her any less, you wouldn't have noticed.
"And is that wrong? Something is bothering you about this," you pressed.
The emotion passed from the windows of her soul as soon as you finished your sentence. She was closing up.
"Nothing," she replied. "I support you two, shall you ever decide to be together in that way," and her smile was genuine, but also a little sad. You didn't know how to feel about this.
"Kafka, you know that I love you, right?" And here goes nothing.
Her eyes widened at your confession and she took a sharp breath, making you worry.
"You've never told me this openly before. What changed?" she asked tentatively.
"I just realized… Any mission could be our last, so I… I thought you ought to know," you stuttered.
She pressed your chests together even more. You could feel her rapid heartbeat, and you were sure that she could feel yours too.
"May I?" her voice was so small, so vulnerable.
You nodded in return.
Her warm, velvety lips collided with your own, smearing lipstick all over the place, a thing none of you could care about at that moment.
You felt so loved. So close, so familiar and so, so warm. This wasn't a new beginning, it was a continuation of your destiny together. With new feelings unlocked, you both could finally express them freely with each other.
The kiss wasn't long, but it was sensual and gentle and everything you ever wanted. It still left the both of you breathless, and a small grin made its way onto her face.
"How did I become so lucky to have such a beautiful little thing like you wrapped around my finger, hm?"
