the reason im so obsessed with the Telltale Batman games is because 

if you TREAT the characters as if you KNOW they are inherently bad, untrustworthy and unworthy of love BECAUSE you know they will eventually become villains

then they DO. Its a prophecy you fulfilled. i knew you were bad, i treated you bad, now youre bad so i was right

BUT

if you DONT. If you treat them like people in need of help, unwell people, sick people who are reaching out to you before they tumble over the edge

then they dONT BECOME THAT PERSON

like, are they still messed up? Yeah. But you fucking STOPPED a MAJOR icon of folklore that represents madness and helplessness and fear from being born, because you WANTED to HELP. And you DID!!

Does it work on EVERY character? No. They dont all reach out to you! Some of them reach their hand out to you as a trick, with a knife behind their back. Its easy to decide the first time it happens that its not worth reaching back, that people dont deserve it

I saw a post that included..sexual context, where it was confirmed that due to..restraining themselves gotham is the way it is (probably), I like to imagine that part why these two are so irrationally chaotic is because they are very repressed bisexuals who are pressured into never showing romantic feelings toward one another by the city , to the point it drives them mad.
