Personally, I wasn’t planning on buying the album anyway, so it’s not like I’m purposely joining in on this boycott. HOWEVER, if I *had* been planning to buy it, this wouldn’t stop me…
I mean, maybe it literally is just me, but I don’t understand.
1) Yeah, YG may have final say when things get to be released, but knowing Jiyong, do you really think he has 14975891789675 songs written, and 25825 full albums set aside that YG has not let him release? GD’s a favorite. If GD has a complete album ready - that meets his own expectations - do you think YG would tell him no? I’m seriously asking…
2) I’m about 89.73% certain BIGBANG has say in how many events they want to do. (IDK where I got that number, I just hit keys.) YG’s pretty consistent with working around the members’ schedules… Plus, MADE Tour was supposed to be ~the last tour before they start enlisting~ so of course they would want to see most of their fans… That’s why they had such excessive tour dates. (I’m still mad about that, btw. We didn’t need 3 shows on the West coast. They could’ve given 1-2 of those to Europe, but whatever.)
3) I simply don’t get this..? MADE Tour made less than was reported? I don’t- I’m gonna skip that one. lol
4) Yeah, their safety is an issue, but half the time it’s not YG’s fault. They’re used to sending out each member with 1-2 managers/handlers at a time. And when said member is on a personal schedule (like Seungri and his CEO/DJ-ing side gig), they’re not gonna have full security detail. And some fans are just batshit crazy… They can’t exactly plan ahead for crazy… But once they do see something’s completely gone to hell - like those airport scenes in China - you clearly see that there’s local police enforcement out there for them. That’s not exactly YG’s fault, imo… I mean, ideally, YG should have like a travelling SWAT team to protect their artists from all the crazy fans, but that’s another story. lol
5) Yeah, I’ll give you that one. YG absolutely sucks at addressing rumors. But from a business perspective, sometimes it’s better to just keep hushed instead of giving more bad publicity. HOWEVER, like in Bom’s case, that was some bs… Keeping quiet, not standing up for your artists when they’ve done nothing wrong, that’s some lowkey bs.
BUT I DIGRESS. I wasn’t planning on buying the album anyway, so my not understanding half the reasoning behind this boycott doesn’t really matter in the long run. You do you, though. If you agree with this, go for it. Don’t buy it. (And also, please help me understand the points I’m clearly not getting… lol I’m legit confused.) AND if you don’t agree with this boycott, go ahead and buy it. You do you, man. IDEK.
