and like im not denying that a lot of different cultures and different eras acknowledged gender structures beyond strictly male/female. but people, even the most well meaning people, interchange 'acknowledges' with 'accepts', and often dehumanize and infantilize different cultural practices and histories in order to prove they didnt "deserve" colonialism/oppression (which like shouldnt be an argument in the first place bc no one deserves colonialism) (altho this is done to western history as well). which mostly just belittles and erases the lived experiences w trans/bi/lesbo/homophobia and especially transmisogyny people from those cultures have
