I loved the juiciness of the meat. Other than that, standard.

They have a great setup. Lots of toppings. Good flavor but could be a little more flavorful. Very standard and delicious

La Prima, Brentwood 5/10
PROJECT SAN VICENTE
I hated these. No offense. The chicken was like super fried, you can’t even tell that it’s chicken. Tortillas were store bought standard.
Rhea liked her carne asada and the jalapeño, it tasted fresh but not crispy enough.

Tocaya’s taco Tuesday 7/10
So I liked their tortillas and the taco on the right I think it’s the mushroom Tierra one. It was really creative and fruity. Other than that it was ok. Like it was definitely yummy but it has to compete with all these insane tacos I’ve been eating recently

Johnny’s birria and tacos, Westwood 7/10
I’ve been meaning to try a WW truck so this was good. The flavor was really really yummy and I like how they crisped the tortillas, but the chicken was kinda lifeless and it was one of the drippiest tacos I’ve ever seen, there was like a puddle left after!!

Tacos el poblano, Westchester 7.5/10
So, generally, these are standard, solid taco truck tacos. They’ve checked the boxes: they’ve got the simple authentic build, the quick and cheap service, and the inclusion of radish, cucumber, and lime with a nice salsa on the side. But beyond that, there wasn’t anything especially appealing about this taco.
HOWEVER, I noticed a few small details that elevated the taco. First, they got their tortilla a lil toasty and grilly, it had some subtle toasty crispy action that turned a regular ass tortilla into an enhanced regular ass tortilla (R.A.T.) second, their chicken was PLENTY juicy, but the taco didn’t drip, not once. Now, ladies and gentlemen, THIS is not an easy balance to strike. Usually, delicious juicy meat comes at the cost of a wet, dripping messy situation. But I found their meat to be absolutely juiced up without any mess at all!
My biggest complaint was that the FLAVOR was not particularly compelling. Also even though their RAT was elevated, it was still a RAT.

The Eagle Rock Taco Crawl
Today rojan took me on the grand Eagle Rock Taco Crawl for my bday!! It was a great time, quality sister time, a valuable professional growth experience, and delicious dinner. We hit 7 spots, everything from street trucks to boujee gentrified tex-mex, and had tacos ranging from $1 to $6. We kept it chicken every time in the name of SCIENCE. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely return to villas or angels, which were my fav 2. In the end, what distinguished my favorite tacos was the handmade tortillas, as always. Keep it bussin, east Los Angeles! City of 👼 angels and 🌮 tacos baby!
Rojan’s review
Below, please find Rojan’s review (mostly agree but NOT OFFICIALLY ENDORSED by shaya)
Eagle rock taco tour OFFICIAL ranking 2024 by me and Shaya. For her 23rd birthday gift, I took her through all of my fave tacos in eagle rock PLUS some extras. Photos are in order from best to worst. Got chicken at every place for consistency. our comments are as follows:
1. Leo’s. 10/10 Best tacos in Los Angeles. Staff (Leo Jr.) is so kind. Meat is always flavorful and juicy but not overbearing. Fantastic salsa and only $2/taco. Number one global establishment
2. Villa’s 9.5/10. Just as good as leos but more pricey and have a lot going on. The handmade tortillas and hibiscus onions are the showstoppers. Also free guac is big. But, they just can’t beat a classic street taco.
3. Angels. 7/10. Great vibe, love the handmade tortillas. I didn’t like the flavor or texture of the meat. Plus points for extensive topping bar. Minus points for too spicy
4. Homestate 6.6/10. If they didn’t claim to be texmex their score would be way lower, but because they admit they’re not authentic I don’t hate it as much. They are known for their flour tortillas which are good, but other than that the flavor was lacking and I did NOT like the cabbage they put in the taco.
5. Charlie’s 5/10. I only go to Charlie’s when drunk and desperate. Flavor is not bad but meat and tortillas are dry. They also don’t provide radishes or limes
6. Rula’s. 3.3 Not good. No flavor, SO dry. Salsa tastes super strange. Would never willingly eat these again
7. La Estrella tacos 2/10. I did not take more than one bite because they are so bad. Chicken was not grilled, just boiled and doused in what tasted like canned enchilada sauce. Way too spicy

Stop #6 on ERTC
This was Rojan’s favorite but I found it to be just fine. One fatal flaw was their tortillas were bought (evidence pictured) . Strengths were good salsa and authentic build
I think rojan may have had a better experience bc she ate the al pastor… hmmm.

Charlies tacos, eagle rock 5/10
#4 on ERTC
Dry chicken. Really good MSG flavor. Terrible tortilla integrity. Good bagged salsa. No radishes
Didn’t like the Vegas vibes, lights, hideous food pics on the truck. Nice benches.
Rojan commended them as a good drunk food bc it’s cheap and quick postmates delivery, I’ll give them that. The MSG-forward flavor really suits that niche.
Ppt $1.50 cheapest taco ever?
