everything is bad, the world is falling apart in a way that will forever break us, but at least Manjari is finally getting what she deserves.

Muskaan is like that person who realizes they've joined a cult a bit too late and are now in too deep to get out but not brainwashed enough to go along with their batshit crazy rituals.

@ aarohi and abhimanyu
Ship Dynamic: I'm not convinced these two are capable of a healthy relationship with anyone, so they might as well have an unhealthy relationship with each other.

I completely agree with your opinion on Abhishek Nigam as Ali Baba. Sheezan's version of Ali Baba was a very easygoing guy who didn't take life too seriously. Even though he understood how difficult his and his family's life was, he still found tiny ways to make his kids happy and tried his level best to understand Qasim's anger.
I miss the vibe between Ali and the kids, it was so sweet. I miss what Ali and Mariam had, especially from episode 27-39. They were so wholesome and carefree. I miss Ali calling Mariam "naram-o-nazuk." I'm sad that I'm not going to see that relationship develop further. I'm also upset about the fact that we're not going to see Qasim and Ali's relationship grow and develop either.
What parts of the show did you really like? Are you still watching the show?
yessss exactly! i'm still semi-watching it, but i miss how soft and wholesome Ali used to be! i miss the seeing the relationships between different pairings and the bonds grow. Abhishek Nigam crying for Alifi doesn't feel genuine because he (as an actor) hasn't put any work into forging that bond. It feels insincere. It doesn't feel like Ali Baba. Sheezan is a much quieter, mellower actor than him, which really suited the character. Abhishek just isn't as good at internalizing emotion.
I also really miss Mariam. she was the character that first caught my interest. Ali Baba had the strength, courage and magic, but she had the brains. the writers gave the character autonomy to actually affect the plot. they are bringing her back with a new actress (even though they said they won't) and idk how i feel about that....
the show has become more supernatural/action oriented like Hero or Aladdin. it isn't a drama anymore, which is what i watched it for. the only things keeping me interested are Alifi and Simsim. but maaaan new Ali Baba and his sidekick are getting on my nerves

why is Abhishek Nigam's Ali Baba so... cold?
when Sheezan played him, the character was a regular guy carrying the burden of saving his city. the kind of person who confided in children instead of adults. not the smartest, but always the kindest and most empathetic.
Ali Baba's identity was a secret because the point was that this magical savior could be anyone. and a lot of times, it wasn't just him. it was the kids, Mariam, the friends, even Qasim. the Rakhwala was never the hero, but more like a representation of Kabul's fighting spirit.
this new Ali Baba is the main hero, the ONLY hero. he keeps swinging around his magical sword and saying intimidating dialogue, no masks, no hiding. all his traits which were imbibed by Alifi are now gone. all the relationships and teamwork we were invested in have been erased. a blank slate.

Hi.
I'm the anon who sent TT the ask about RRR. I read what you had said in the replies and I just wanted to ask if you could explain what hindutva is and how the film propagated it. I'm really not educated about this and I tried to do my own research but nothing I read on the internet helped me understand what it actually is, but it's clear that it's something bad. And because I really enjoyed the film without knowing any of this I want to educate myself, so that in the future I'm not just blindly consuming content.
That being said it's totally fine if this isn't a conversation you want to have and thank you so much for giving me some perspective, I really had no idea about any of this and I genuinely appreciate that I've learned something ☺️
hi! i honestly am not sure if i can eloquently explain this. hindutva is essentially right wing hindu nationalism, which is all about the superiority of the hindu identity over other religions, the upholding of casteism, and villianizing the idea of secularism in India. a lot of their agenda is pushed by rewriting the history of India through a strictly hindu lens - they minimize or completely erase the contributions of non-Hindu and lower caste historical figures. RRR does this too, in subtle ways that are not immediately obvious to the viewer, but can affect their perspective on a more subconscious level.
lots of smart people have written very insightful articles about this in the context of the movie's international fame:
Tumblr media
this one is a general discussion about how propaganda is infiltrating the movies:
i do want to add that it's okay to acknowledge that RRR is an incredibly fun experience, rajamouli def knows how to put on a show. but it's also important to recognize that the story he's telling is molded to push a narrative of caste superiority and Hindu identity mythbuilding. i think it's valid to criticize and hold him (+ the western audience) accountable for promoting such dangerous ideology in India's current political climate.
