Caesar Vs. is just an awesome concept. Sublime. Love it. Normally when I think about your Avengers Games stuff, that’s what I’m thinking about. Do you have any thoughts on how some of your D2 victors handled it?

Caesar Vs. is the Panem version of "Shaq Vs.", which is of course a little unfair to Shaq in that he IS an athlete and Caesar obviously is not, but that's why we (azelmaroark, who came up with the idea, and I) have him bring in another Victor to "help" him.

It's such a stupid concept and I love it so much. I have a horrible back room in my mind filled with Panem versions of terrible reality competition shows (like Dancing with the Stars or Bake-Off). Most of them involve Brutus because ... well, I mean, it's funny.

So generally speaking, you go on with the Victor before you and they try to use your signature weapon in a series of challenges. Obviously it takes you both down a peg while purporting to showcase your "skills" so that's good for El Presidente.

Petra - went with Rokia, using ~maces~ I think this was mostly just ... awkward?

Rokia - went with Annie, would have used ... knives??? actually I'm not sure what they counted as her ~signature weapon~ @kawuli? but there would also be a climbing component

Annie - went with Eibhlin, I'm sure that was fun, not sure about the weapon but they'd also want a ~swimming component~ and her mentor would have to weigh Annie's PTSD over the cost of saying no (we all know who would pay that, Finnick would say yes absolutely)

Eibhlin - @penfoldx help me out with the challenge here, but she'd go with the girl from One, at least in my chronology (from Pen: “Eib v 1F is going to be Bitchfest 2: Electric Boogaloo. Eib’s signature weapons are traps and explosions. Not sure how that will be adapted? I can almost see it as something like being slimed on Nickelodeon. It’ll be in horrible taste”)

68 - girl from One, with Claudius, that's not a fun year, Bitchy City

Claudius - swords are the weapon, with Johanna, I actually think it's .......... not that bad? weirdly? like there's some real awkwardness with Seven but he's cynical, she's cynical, he hates this, she hates this, I think there's a bit of shared camaraderie they didn't expect

Johanna - throwing axes with Finnick, I bet their year is WILD and Caesar completely loses control

Finnick - tridents~~~ with Gloss HA HA HA OH BOY

Gloss - twin knives with Cashmere~~~ ... this year is sad. like it's probably the only fun thing they get to do and Gloss doesn't quite get it yet, but she does, and he isn't making it sexy enough and she doesn't want to and so she doesn't, and they pay for it later. but for now? for now it's fun

Cashmere - twin knives with ENOBARIA?! oh lord have mercy it's a wonder they don't murder each other

Enobaria - knives with Cecelia I'm dying. what even is this. what would they DO?! Enobaria doesn't even want to do it she'd be so angry

Cecelia - she's with Devon and it's stupidly wholesome and everyone is confused at how cute this is, I have no idea how you make poison into a challenge, maybe they play hide and seek???

Devon - polearms with uhhhhh whoever killed Brutus' tribute, so that's a bit awkward but Devon's a good sport and the tribute knows they killed a Two so they're also trying to not be a dick about it, and I think they wind up being pretty chummy

59: I don't know who this is but it's with Wiress so they're in for some fun. OH i think actually in @sweet-suzume's universe this is uhhh Theo? so that's cute actually

Wiress - she's with Misha, and now I'm imagining Misha trying to do like .... a STEM challenge and this is deeply hysterical to me. I think she'd get super competitive (she likes lockpicking!) and have fun

Misha - swords with Caleb from D5, she's got no beef with him and she loves to show off, this is a great day for her.

Caleb - I don't remember his weapon but he gets Lyme, I don't envy him for this. This is Lyme's prime man-hating phase and she'd be SO angry about having to pretend to be bad at something. HAVE FUN BUDDY. oh but in @sweet-suzume's universe I think this is Song? in which case they have a FANTASTIC day.

Lyme - swords with Blight? Oh boy. They don't NOT get along but they don't ...... get along? He doesn't like Twos, she sees no need to convince him otherwise. Caesar probably tries to keep the banter going and it falls flat every time.

Blight - not sure what his weapon is but he's with Angus (D10) and this is deeply hysterical to me. Blight is a livewire of fury and Angus is just so chill. I can't imagine how this goes down.

Angus - omg Angus is with Emory, this would be the BEST YEAR. so chill, no competition, just two people showing each other how to do things in a slow drawl the whole time. Caesar trying to get them to lock horns and both of them waving him off.

Emory - in the AU it's Frigga which is awkward but hilarious, if it's not Frigga then I don't know who this is but Emory is very desperate to prove herself so it will be very awkward. She uses swords

51 - HAVE FUN WITH HAYMITCH

Haymitch - I THINK they'd let him use axes, since technically it was the forcefield, not the hatchet, that they considered treason? He's with Brutus and he hates everything about this. Even odds whether he even participates or just gets drunk. Brutus tries because he has to, but welp.

Brutus - swords with Phillips, that's ... interesting, I'd forgotten they were back to back actually but it does make sense that they have a weird kind of 'look out for each other' thing going

After this I don't know the years one by one but here's the pairs:

Nero - with Callista, his 'signature weapon' is, unfortunately rocks, because he had the 'no weapons' year so I don't even know what the challenge would be, but Calli would purposely make the whole thing extremely irreverent to keep it from being trigger city for him

Odin - spears with Hera, and oh man the two of them young? iconic
