Went to a local garden for the first time today and came across my first ever “plane-tree,” a.k.a. a London plane tree!

Which I did not know was an actual specific Thing until today, when my mouth hung open in surprise at the plaque! I had looked up “plane-tree” before and had only gotten the response that it’s basically a synonym for sycamore (the Platanaceae kind) — I did not realize that there was a very specific (hybrid) species to which the Manette-Darnay “plane-tree” most likely belonged,

and I am delighted! I can absolutely imagine them all sitting together under this lovely tree🌳
