a lot of times what makes oc designs work is the variety of hues and the stuff. even ocs that you'd describe as 'mostly brown' are often different shades of yellow for transitioning to white, some true browns and then dark desaturated reds for the 'dark browns' that mostly just reads to us as the same range of colors at first

and i say all this bc its so hard to make something out of daron's monochrome palette, i feel like. i did try other hues and such but i just dont personally like it. then it all boils down to contrast and my perfectionist symmetrical ass cant come up with anything better than stripes it seems. its so tiring im like a dog running in circles around a tree chasing my leash or whatever. when am i gonna finally make the perfect fursona

#im diverting that anger into working in the website again which as always gives me pains of its own but i plan to explain the>#>huge amount of nitpicks i personally have as checkboxes for daron in their character page #the contrast is the biggest issue bc i want whatever pattern they may have in their body to also be present in their face #bc its satisfying when you look at an animal with like. spots in their cheeks and then the whole body has spots too. cohesion!#but im so tired of stripes genuinely. yet theyre so easy to use for contrast #and i go like ah! i will just use a bunch of differently-colored areas to get such contrast! and we arrive at this post #the whole creativew process is so tiring and the whole chronicle depression thing isnt helping. im gonna revert to finger painting -_-#dextxt #<using this tag again to catalogue the pain as usual
