AUDIO: The Only Way Nigeria Can Change Is For Everybody To Be killed, Says Amaechi Rotimi Amaechi, director-general of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, has reportedly described Nigeria as hopeless, saying the only way for the country to make progress is for “everybody to be killed”. According to an audio released by Phrank Shaibu, an aide of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Amaechi, who is minister of transportation, said this in a conversation with some journalists. The minister was heard saying there would be a university in his village after the plans to build one in Daura, hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari in Katsina state, have been concluded. Amaechi is from Ubima in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers state. TheCable could not independently verify the audio. It is unclear when the conversation took place but it has been generating reactions on social media. “This country can never change, I swear. The only way this country can change is in a situation where everybody is killed,” Amaechi said in the audio. “This country is going nowhere. When Magnus (Abe) was secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), I told him that this country is hopeless and helpless and he told me, ‘Oga, stop it’. This cannot be coming from a governor.   “But two months in Abuja, Magnus came to meet me and said, I agree with you; this country is hopeless and helpless. All they do in Abuja is to share money.   “I have already written to the governor of Katsina state and I don’t know why he has not replied to give us the land in Daura for a university in Daura. The next university would be in my village. There is a popular saying while we were growing up, that charity begins at home. Will my own begin abroad? . “The president does not listen to anybody. He doesn’t care. You can write what you want to write. Does he read? I was flying with him in the aircraft and we saw a news report where a goat seller was complaining that he couldn’t sell his goats during Sallah because of Buhari’s administration. And the president said what my business with goat sellers is?” David Iyiofor, spokesman of the minister, could not be reached for comments as of the time this report was filed. He neither answered calls nor responded to a text message sent. Commenting on the audio, Shaibu asked Nigerians to vote against Buhari in the forthcoming election. He said a vote for the president “is a vote for stagnation”, asking Buhari to “quit honourably instead of wasting tax payers monies on his reelection bid”. “The truth is that, the other day, the President confessed that the economy had collapsed under his watch. On another occasion, the wife confessed to the fact that, the cabal and not her dearest husband, President Buhari was in charge of the country and now, the director-general of his re-election campaign has confessed to the lack of capacity of President Buhari and the dismal failure of hid administration,” he said in a statement.   “The truth is, the president has established a record of failures which probably no other President would ever equal or erase. Mrs Aishat Buhari was partially correct when she stated that two people are preventing her husband from performing well. Presidency And WAEC Disagree On President Buhari’s Certificate The controversy surrounding the issuance of certificate to President Muhammadu Buhari by the West African Examinations Council has taken a new twist as Presidency on Saturday, disagreed with WAEC on the reason for the issuance of the Attestation of Results. According to Punch, while the Presidency insisted that Buhari didn’t apply for the results of the West African School Certificate Examination, which he claimed to have sat for in 1961, the examination body said the document was issued because the President applied for it. WAEC’s spokesman, Damianus Ojijeogu revealed this in an interview with Punch on Saturday. Ojijeogu, in the interview said, “We would not have given him the document if he didn’t apply. It is only Buhari or a court that can ask for the results. There is no other person. So he asked for it.” Also, WAEC said in issuing an Attestation of Results to replace a lost or missing WAEC certificate, the subjects, where the candidate had F9, would no longer be captured. WAEC Nigeria said these on its Twitter handle, @waecnigeria, on Saturday, while answering questions from several Nigerians on the omission of F9 from Buhari’s attestation.   “That is WAEC Twitter handle. It is correct,” Ojijeogu added, confirming the authenticity of the post on the handle. The documents were presented to the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, during a courtesy visit by a delegation of WAEC led by its Registrar, Dr. Iyi Uwadiae. Uwadiae was accompanied by the Head, National Office, WAEC, Olutise Adenipekun; Head, Public Affairs, WAEC, Abiodun Aduloju; and the Zonal Coordinator, WAEC Abuja, Olufemi Oke. Buhari received the documents amidst the controversy generated over his claim in his details presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission that his credentials were with the Military Board. The board had subsequently declared the President’s certificate missing, hence the need for him to get an attestation and a confirmation. Earlier on its Twitter handle on Saturday, the examination body had stated, “You cannot apply for Attestation of Results or any other document if you have not registered and sat for the examination. “The documents for application are a letter of application, police report on lost or damaged certificate, photocopy of lost or damaged certificate, two recent passport-sized photographs of the candidate, sworn affidavit for collection of attestation of results and administrative fee of N20,000.” But the Presidency, which spoke through Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the initiative to make the documents available to the President was that of the examination body. Shehu, in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday, said WAEC authorities made it clear that they read about the controversy generated by the President’s missing certificate and saw the need to save the council’s integrity. The presidential spokesman added, “No, the President did not apply for the documents. I made this clear in an opinion I wrote on Friday.   “The presentation of the documents to the President was strictly an initiative of WAEC. “They said they read about the controversy on the pages of newspapers and saw the need to save the integrity of the council.” Shehu had, in an opinion, titled ‘President Buhari, WAEC and PDP’s toxic air’, on Friday, quoted the examination body as saying that the controversy concerning Buhari’s school certificate was embarrassing and felt a sense of duty to produce and deliver the documents to him. He had said, “This is a god-send, with WAEC being a non-political entity. This should put to rest the absurd allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party, brought up again and again, that he (Buhari) did not attend a secondary school.” WAEC said the controversy surrounding the President’s picture was due to a guideline that the council used the photograph of the applicant for the attestation and not the pupil’s picture as of the time of sitting for the examination. WAEC also said it did not issue the attestation of results to Buhari in 2015 because there was no application for it. It said, “WAEC does not record fail in certificates. He (Buhari) did not apply for it in 2015. In August 2015, the council introduced Attestation of Results that can be obtained on request and that can serve as a replacement for lost or missing certificates.   “It should be the passport photo he (Buhari) submitted during the application for Attestation of Results. Attestation of Results carries passport of the candidate’s application when he or she applied. Candidates were first issued Attestation of Results by WAEC Nigeria in 2015.   “What we presented to President Buhari on Friday was a Statement/Attestation of Results and not a certificate. Subjects that a candidate had F9s in are no longer captured in certificates or Attestation of Results.” Read the full article

He shared a video which captured him wearing a custom skydiving suit, talking about his big jump. ‘It’s my birthday, and I’m about to jump out a plane,’ Diddy said to his 12.1 million Instagram followers. The music mogul disclosed that he thought of skydiving earlier this year, and he wanted to do it in Dubai, but it didn’t happen. According to him, he was going to, ‘attempt to land, two houses away, in the backyard of the Playboy Mansion.’

Igbo apprenticeship system is world’s largest business incubator platform – Robert Neuwirth Robert Neuwirth, an American journalist, author, and investigative reporter who gave a TED talk on age-old sharing economies of Africa, talked about the Igbo apprenticeship system. According to Robert Neuwirth, the Igbo apprenticeship system is the largest business incubator platform in the world because when an apprentice serves, his master is expected to set him up in business. The journalist further added that apprenticeships that work like locally generated venture capital and systems for allocating scarce water, can propagate and scale these models that could help communities thrive from the bottom up. Here is a video of his TED talk below; In Igbo land, there’s a culture that frowns on children roaming the streets doing nothing, so if a child is unable to go to school, his relatives ensure that he learns a trade- usually it’s the type of trade that his family people have been involved in. So boys and girls (usually those out of primary school or secondary school) would intern with the owner of the shop who runs either a spare parts, second hand clothing, supermarkets business etc for a specific period of time (10 years or so) to learn the trade. It is an unpaid apprenticeship- but meals, clothing and t-fare are provided for. When the years are over and the boy is as good as his master, the master sets him up with some cash -and goods- to start his own shop. Sometimes, in order to prevent the apprentice graduate from squandering all that capital at once, the master tells him that at the end of one year, a certain percentage should be returned.
