He watched from his position beside her throne as she went down to Kane. He wouldn’t say, but he was relieved. This was her anger getting to her, making her react. Had it been preconceived, it would have been him against Kane instead of her. He was silently appreciative that he didn’t have to face that reality. But the moment he noticed the sky beginning to cave in, he rushed forward. “Octavia.” He caught her with his arms, using his body to shield hers from falling debris.

Was he a best friend, protecting a loved one? Or was he a soldier protecting his queen? The line was far too blurry these days.
