     Being unaware that he is being kept alive by a werewolf heart and that it is the heart of a female, Jaesung often ends up worse for wear when unknowingly battling things outside of his control. Roughly every month, or when the moon is full, he has ‘phases’ lasting from three days to seven days of heightened arousal. It includes, but is not limited to, severe insomnia ( unable to sleep for a minimum of forty-eight hours, up to a record of one hundred and twenty hours, beyond which is he is too terrified not to intervene ), lack of fatigability ( his body does not tire at all and he feels rested and fresh consistently ), a relatively high degree of irritability since he has so much energy that he doesn’t know what to do with and hyperphagia where he’ll just constantly eat if there’s food in front of him.

     While he could be using the ‘phases’ to their full potential, he ends up fighting these changes, spending hours tossing and turning in bed and eventually self-medicating to stay asleep ( again, not because he’s tired, but because of how out of routine it is, how unnatural it is, to not be tired and sleep after a whole day, two days, three days-- it terrifies him ). He is not comfortable seeing a doctor for these problems since he’s spent a lot of time in a lab and an ICU bed and he doesn’t want that kind of intervention again. But he does regularly go into shady walk-in clinics and getting stronger and stronger sleeping prescriptions, even reaching a point where he’ll self-inject tranquilizer doses, just so he can force himself to sleep until everything is better again, only for the cycle to start all over from square one.

     Jaesung is very pre-occupied with getting rid of these symptoms, almost obsessively, since his military upbringing placed a very strong focus on doing things like clockwork, getting the right amount of rest, eating the right things on the right time-- that he spends a lot of this excess energy subduing himself, trying to be ‘normal’. He could potentially have other effects he doesn’t know about yet, such as heightened senses, increased sexual drive and an ability to actually shift, but that’s really hard to discover when you are absolutely in denial that anything is wrong and keep drugging yourself to sleep.

* oh I forgot to mention, on the worse days, he may even have manic psychosis but it’s a result of his own self-medication and... yea, he really brings it on himself tbh.

Miko/Ikari/Haruka were squad qoals back in the day. A yuki-onna, an incubus and a werewolf. 10/10 until the incubus gets into the military, the yuki-onna marries a gang leader and the werewolf gets captured and sold by said gang leader where her heart gets transplanted into Jaesung who has no idea why his chest aches when he sees this veteran soldier turned police officer or the famed lady of the evening who has eyes and ears everywhere.

                                                                  WOLFHEART ( THE FIRST )

     Codenamed by the military lab that replaced his heart with that of a werewolf’s, Jaesung experienced harsh reactions from the procedure, spending weeks in a comatose state that left him weaker than he had ever been before. Once he slowly gained consciousness, his physical recovery began, at a much more slower slope. It took him several months to finally be able to stand up and walk again. 

     For the next couple of years, nothing strange happened to him. He continued to recover slowly, never putting too much pressure on himself, and letting his body adjust to normal health. All his laboratory tests revealed that the werewolf heart he had been given had been rendered inactive and was not much different from any other average human heart. Thus he was truly discarded by the lab and never approached again. 

     While it appears that he really was a failure and is just an average human, the wolfheart has integrated itself into his entire body in a successful graft vs host disease. However, it is strongly controlled by Jaesung’s will and as long as he sees himself unfit for combat, the wolfheart will remain silent.

                        HALIMEDE

     Despite having a fairly successful and stable career freelancing as a software engineer, Jaesung Lee has fallen into a rabbit hole he is not sure he wants to leave anytime soon: the dark web. Developing a profound insight into laws regarding cyber crimes and complimenting it with a strong interest and honed talent in hacking, it doesn’t take too long for him to convert from merely an observer to an active player on the dark web.

     Creating an online alias of Halimede, Jaesung initially used his talents to infiltrate the military cyber-fortress in an attempt to gain more knowledge about the procedure he had been put through. Although he doesn’t manage to find any information on that ( yet ) he discovers far more than he had initially thought he would, including the planned murder of his father, a high-ranking military officer. 

     He continues to slowly and cryptically leak information onto the dark web, hoping to spark interest and find more like-minded people who would be able to translate the virtual information into actual change. Halimede ends up creating an almost cult-ish aura around himself, often scouting out users and forming potential partnerships to exchange information. His most successful and long-term partnership that translated into real life is with Izumi Kaede.

     “I can’t remember the last time I’ve spoken to my sister. We don’t talk and I doubt she thinks much about me– just as I don’t think much about her. Whatever I do know about her, I find out because I keep an eye out on her”– so he had definitely found out about their engagement, mostly from tabloid news. “She’s not going to invite me, I’m not going to come”

     It wasn’t about breaking sibling bonds. It was about keeping the other safe. If he showed up anywhere near her in public– and reminded the CCG and the Washuu that he was still alive– then they would both have to suffer. Him, for existing. Her, for glossing over him.

     “That said, I am very happy for her. It does hurt a bit– that I cannot be there to see her or congratulate her in person. But I’m glad, still”. As for who she was going to be with– “General Nakarai is, from what I’ve seen, the kind of person who won’t hurt my sister. I cannot say much more– save the fact that I may have thought about killing her, on occasion. Merely as a potential chess move– for tactical reasons. But now I know– not to touch her”– Katsumi Nakarai had become much more than just an abstract chess piece.

     “I know not to judge by first impressions. People often do not show their true selves right away. I think Ms Heilm’s first impression is still continuously running, although there are moments where it falls away– but it’s always just for a few seconds, which isn’t a lot to work with”– and so currently, he has nothing concrete to say. Most people, he could read fairly well, but she was different and it wasn’t surprising– with her history and current affairs, it was probably for the best that she remained this way. 

     To deny that she was attractive would be a blatant lie, but there was a difference between attractive and attracted. “I like to keep things professional and separate from anything personal–” as though he had any semblance of a personal life. “Sometimes I wonder what exactly it was that caused her to start this dangerous career– and how she got so good at it”

     He wasn’t sure if he would call anything about her adorable but he did think her attempts of trying to be normal– friendly– with him was a little cute. “Well, if she’s in a tough scrape, I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to get her out of it. But if push comes to shove, I just might”. There wasn’t much to look forward to– and he was already well prepared to be caught or killed with what he was doing anyway. “Going on dates isn’t really my thing. I don’t… I don’t exactly picture her as my type either so… probably not–” he had the feeling they were both too alike in that aspect to hit it off on that front. “If she invited me, I wouldn’t turn her down– but that’s mostly out of politeness and obligation”, she’s paying him, after all.

     If he had to describe her with one word, it would probably be efficient.
