Her home screen is usually a picture of the group with the theme of their current comeback. Hwa likes to play ‘superstar Ateez’ whenever she has freetime. Most of her music is k-pop songs, mainly ATEEZ, Stray kids, BTOB, Itzy, Aespa and some chosen songs that she can't stop listening to. She doesn't have that many contacts in her phone, mainly her friends, the managers and her family. Social media she uses are instagram (@Hwannieteez) or twitter (official ateez account). Hwa is one who loves to look at fanart or sometimes draws her own fanart. She can be found on her phone very often, but it always takes her ages to respond to texts or calls.

[ start ]
Your eyes opened to see you were in a museum. “Ma’am?” You looked over to see a young boy, somewhere in his teens, poking your shoulder. You think you looked startled because he was quick to put his hands up in defense and show he meant no harm. “Can I help you with something?” You turned to face the boy completely. He spoke a bit more timidly this time. “Um, the museum is about to close. You need to start making your way to the exit.” You nodded as you looked back to the piece in front of you. The boy started to walk away as you looked a bit closer at the description. Say My Name. You looked back at the sculpture then back at the silver plate in front of it. Say my name and I shall appear. Beware that the name you call upon doesn’t summon the wrong being. You looked at the bottom of the plate where a set of initials sat. KHJ. With that thought in mind, you made your way out of the museum and looked around.
You looked down at your body and saw you were wearing the same outfit from before. You sighed. “I wonder if I have a house here.” You went to check your bag and your pockets for something. You frowned when you came up empty. “Now what.” You sighed as you looked around. There was nobody around, the street silent as if the city was void of people altogether.
You figured that you would walk around and find some place to sleep for the night before returning in the morning. You walked around for a while before you found a small building that had the words bed & breakfast written on the sign above the door. Walking inside, you decided that this would have to do for the night.
You had returned to the museum the next day and sat in front of that exhibit again. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but it was just so interesting and different from anything you had ever seen in a museum before. Who would make such a thing and display it at a museum? The brass horn sat propped up on a stand, just sitting there. It was so plain but it had caught your attention the more you stared at it.
“You okay, miss?” You turned to see a dark figure standing behind you. You smiled as you nodded your head, hoping he’d leave it at that and go away. “You sure? You don’t look okay to me. You’ve been sitting here for a while just looking at this piece.” As you went to speak, the hood of his sweater pulled back a bit. You paused in your place when you saw a peak of his face. You recognized him. But where had you seen him?
“Miss?” You focused back on what he was saying. You looked back at the art piece in front of you before you looked back at him. “I’m fine. I was actually wondering if you knew who made this piece? It’s really interesting.” The man nodded as he took a seat on the bench beside you. He looked at the piece for a second before he spoke in a hushed tone. “The artist’s name is Hongjoong.” You nodded as you studied the piece. “The horn is used for making grand announcements, making special calls. But with the horn comes power and authority. Only people of high power use horns.” You nodded, a bit confused but still trying to follow along.
“I think deep inside the artist was feeling something, something he didn’t quite understand. Something he feared.” You looked back at the plaque as you read the words. “Beware that the name you call upon doesn’t summon the wrong being. Who could he be talking about?” You stayed quiet for a while as you mulled the words over in your head, a little more confused than before with the lack of actual explaining.
You sighed as you looked at the initials. “Hongjoong.” You muttered the name so quietly. You could hardly hear the words yourself. But somehow, he had heard it. “Hmm?” You looked at the man beside you with wide eyes. “What?” He seemed to have realized his mistake when he met your eyes. Suddenly, screaming could be heard from the other room. The man, who you could only assume was Hongjoong, stood up and grabbed your arm. “We need to go, now.”
You could see a white fog creeping into the room as you followed Hongjoong out of the exhibit and towards a door that led outside. “Follow me, quick.” You didn’t think you would, but you kept up with Hongjoong as he ran through the dark of the night in a direction you hadn’t been in before. Pretty soon, you pulled up to a shabby warehouse. As soon as you ran inside, you stopped to try and catch your breath, leaning on your knees as you took a look around.
You gasped around your words, thoughts coming out quicker than you were able to catch your breath. “I’ve been here before.” You tried to swallow some saliva down to wet your dry throat as you looked around. You finally looked at him and met those familiar eyes. “You brought me here before.” He looked at you, confused at your words. “What are you talking about? I’ve never even been here before, myself.” You chuckled a bit at his words. “Um, the other you brought me here.” He threw his head back in confusion. “Please. Stop talking for a second.”
After a couple of minutes of catching your breath you found yourself walking around. The place was empty aside from the familiar dingy couches in the middle of the room. “So, are we gonna get chased down every time I say your name?” Hongjoong looked at you when your voice broke the silence. “Not every time. It’s hit or miss. I think it depends on who says it.” You nodded as you sat down on the couch. You lowered your voice to a whisper as he sat next to you. “Can I ask you something?” He nodded as he looked at you.
“You’re stuck here aren’t you?” You were too scared to meet his eyes but you could hear the way he shifted in his seat at your words. “What do you mean?” You looked at him and searched his eyes. You could tell he was a bit uneasy. He looked around the big room before he settled back on your eyes.
“I don’t know.” You looked at him questionly. “I mean, I know something’s wrong, I just don’t know what.” You nodded at his words. “What do you mean?” He sighed. “I mean, I live everyday going to work and spending all day creating things I don’t fully understand and when I come home.” You could see the fear in his eyes when he caught his words. He took a deep breath before he continued quietly. “People follow me everywhere I go and I don’t feel safe.” You nodded as you tried to think. “Did they follow us today?” You froze when he began to nod very slowly. “The whole time at the museum?” You stopped and waited for his response. He nodded. “What about here?” He thought about it for a second. “It won’t be long until they find us. We couldn’t have gone very far.”
You nodded as you tried to think over your next words. “Look, I’m supposed to save you. Somebody took you from your dimension and dropped you here and have had you trapped making these art pieces ever since.” He nodded. “I think I dreamt of you before.” You nodded back. “I’ve dreamt of you too.” It was silent for a moment before he spoke again. “And 7 other boys. I don’t know who any of them are though.” You nodded in agreement.
“Me neither. But look, we should probably get going now before they find us and kill us.” Hongjoong sat up as you fumbled through your bag. “This’ll help us get where we need to go.” You pulled out the cromer and motioned for him to put his hand on it beside yours. “Close your eyes and try to dream of home.” Hongjoong shook his head. “I can’t think of home. I don’t know where home is.” You sighed as you tried to think.
Finally you came up with an idea. Just as you went to speak, you heard banging outside. “Quick, tell me about that dream you had with those boys.” Hongjoong stuttered over his words. “U-uh. There were 8 of us.” A loud bang caught both of your attention but you just motioned for him to continue. “We were all at the beach, having so much fun. One of them was swimming in the pool and he had all his clothes on like a weirdo.” You laughed as you saw your dream play back in front of your eyes. “Close your eyes and keep thinking of that.”
You could see the glow of the cromer from behind your eyes already. Your heart was racing at the thought of escaping the android guardian’s grasp and escaping unknown consequences. The light was bright, almost blinding as you went to open your eyes. The world was a bit hazy, but there you sat with Hongjoong in what seemed to be a quiet slumber. “Joong, open your eyes.” But his eyes stayed shut. The world stuttered as if there were an earthquake shaking below your feet. You could hear a distant clanging echoing in the space you were in. “Joong, open your eyes. Quick.” You leaned forward to shake him.
You could hear the banging getting louder and you were all out of ideas. If he didn’t open his eyes soon, the android guardians would barge in and probably kill you. Just as you had started to give up, Hongjoong opened his eyes with a loud gasp. You didn’t waste any time as you yelled at him. “Quick! Turn it!” Just as the world began to peel away, you could hear the sound of the door from the warehouse slide open. You could see them, dressed in white and running towards you at full speed. The world seemed to slip away so slow. You looked over to meet Hongjoong’s  eyes as they hurdled towards you. Your grip tightened on the cromer, and just as their white gloved hands reached out, the world went black.

the letter — y/n
series ml
— rating / genre: G / sci-fi, dystopian
— warnings: slight suspense
— word count: 2.9k
— summary: you wake up in another world not knowing where you are or why you're there. it's up to you to find answers and discover your purpose.
[ start ]
You didn’t really understand what was happening. You had been laying on the thin mattress, staring up at the rickety fan spinning above your head for the past two hours, trying to figure out where you were and who you were – you were too scared to get up and have a look for yourself. You had deducted that you were living in the shabby outskirts of the city from the build of your tiny room. The walls were a dingy color, ugly floral wallpaper peeling from the top down, and the very obviously old creaky fan that needed renewing because you didn’t feel a lick of air from it.
You finally sat up in bed and looked around a little more at the items on the desk beside your bed. The desk was a mess, papers pinned all around the wall and notebooks scattered open over the entire surface. You sighed in frustration as you slammed some papers back down on the desk. You couldn’t find a place to start searching who you were or where you were and why you were here. You decided to take a break from the thinking and went to slowly crack the door to your room open.
“Hello?” You spoke through the crack, checking if anybody was home. But no one answered, so you opened the door a little wider to see an empty living space in front of you. You sighed in relief at the thought of being able to live in peace while you try to figure out the answers to your questions. You thought you’d change and fix something to eat as you thought of how to tackle the mess of notebooks and papers in the room. There has to be something. You huffed as you scarfed down some cereal and apple juice and went to your room to gather all the papers and bring them into the living room.
After bringing all the papers and laying them on the floor, you began to go through them, careful not to move them too much around so you didn’t miss anything. “What does this even mean?” You sifted through some papers with different diagrams and explanations. A picture of what looked like an hourglass with arrows pointing at different parts and long entries on the back.
The cromer is the way to travel through time and between dimensions. You looked up in shock. “What the hell?” You read on. The cromer is the only of its kind and mustn't get into the hands of the guardians. I don’t know why yet, but as soon as I find out, I’ll let you know. You looked through some other notebooks where you found even more scribbles, looking like someone hurriedly scratched whatever information they could as fast as they could. You read.
Hello, y/n. You closed the book in shock. There was no way the person who wrote this had addressed you without even knowing who they were. You opened the notebook with a shaky breath. You might not remember me, but please try your hardest to remember me. Your eyebrows creased together in confusion as you tried to remember anything about who this person might be.
I’m writing to you because you’re coming soon now. Sooner than I expected. I wasn’t prepared. But every one of these papers and notebooks is for you. To guide you through this journey. You wanted to cry from the pent up frustration and confusion as you read the letter. There was no way this was happening right now.
Soon you’ll wake up in my dimension, here. You looked around and chuckled as you wiped a few stray tears that dripped down your cheeks. You won’t know why you’re here and I don’t know either. You’ll have to go explore and figure it out yourself. You scoffed in annoyance at the fact that not only were your questions not answered, but now you had even more questions.
Don’t worry, though. Just keep my journals because there’s one thing I do know. And that’s that I am the key. Go now. Hurry before you run out of time and remember to not trust ANYBODY. The cromer is hidden where you laid for 2 hours this morning. You closed your notebook in surprise. “How did they know?” Creeped out, you shook it off a bit and made your way to your shabby room to look for the cromer.
You flipped the mattress over and tore into it with a pair of scissors laying on the desk and rummaged through the filling in search of the cromer. But you felt nothing. Confused, you instead zipped open your pillow. Maybe it was there and you just read the note wrong. But you came up empty handed.
It was at this point that you realized this was going to require a lot more thought. “Okay. It has to be in this room, I just have to figure out where.” You tried to think and began rummaging through all the dressers and drawers around you.
After looking through every drawer in the apartment for the past couple of hours, you huffed in defeat. Why was this so hard? You decided to lay on the mattress and take a breather. As you laid there, you tried to think. “I sure have done a lot of thinking today. This is so unlike me.” You laughed at yourself a bit before you went back to your thoughts. “Focus, y/n. Focus.” You swiped your hands beside your eyes, jokingly putting your eyes into focus that way.
You laid there and thought, eyes focused on the way the people designed this place made the ugly wallpaper go over the ceiling as well. You sighed in annoyance. “That’s so ugly. Why would anyone want this stupid wallpaper all over their room?” Your eyes raked over the corners of the ceiling, pausing when you saw the wallpaper hanging off the wall like it had been ripped. You turned your head in thought as you studied the rest of the ceiling.
“You know, you’re not too smart. Anyone with a pair of working eyes could see that and know that’s where you hid it.” You laughed as you teased the person who previously occupied the room and lifted yourself from the mattress on the floor. You grabbed a chair and placed it in the corner of the room, using it to lift you high enough so you could reach the paper and peel it off. As you peeled it off, it revealed a little cutout of a door with a hole in the wood so you could stick your finger in and pull it out. You slowly peeled it open and stuck your hand in to pull out the contents behind the door. “Aha. Found you.” You held the cromer in your hands.
You didn’t know what to do now that you had the cromer in your hands. You had been sitting with your chin resting on the coffee table in the living room for the past hour trying to figure out your next move. You thought about what the letter had said and groaned. You really weren’t a fan of going out into a world you didn’t know and searching for your purpose. You looked at a cross body bag that was laying on the couch beside you and back at the cromer. You supposed it wasn’t such a bad idea. Maybe the sooner you found your purpose and fulfilled it, the sooner you could go home. You thought for a second. Wherever home was. You couldn’t seem to remember anything about your own life before you ended up here. You sat up and put the cromer in the bag and went to put on a coat and a pair of shoes.
You were walking around aimlessly, looking for your purpose in this world. You sighed for the millionth time today and decided to just sit for a second and figure out what to do now. The sun was starting to set behind the tall buildings and you were hungry and tired and still confused. You had been sitting on a bench and looking around for something to catch your attention when someone ran by really fast. You brought your bag close to your chest in shock and watched as another man followed close behind. You flinched as someone spoke close to your ear. “Crazy, huh?” You nearly broke your neck as you looked beside you where a man in a black sat. “What?” You sputtered, still in shock.
He smiled a pretty smile and leaned back as he took in your distressed look. “Ease up, y/n. You’re fine.” You sighed in relief at his calm words and the action he took to start walking away. Until you realized. You looked up to see the man disappear among the crowd. “Wait!” You stood and ran after him. “Wait for me!” You ran down the block, looking in every direction for the mysterious man. You sighed as you came up empty.
You heards a chuckle beside you as you leaned against the wall of the building at the corner. “I wasn’t expecting you to run after me.” He looked down at your feet. “Not in those shoes at least.” You looked up beside you to see the man from before. “Well, sorry I wasn’t planning on waking up here and chasing after someone on the streets today.” You rolled your eyes as you spoke. He chuckled again. “Come on. Let’s get off the street.” You nodded as you followed him.
“So what’s your name?” You tried to make small talk with the man. “I’m not supposed to tell you.” You rolled your eyes and huffed in annoyance. “Why not?” He looked at you with a quirked eyebrow when you whined. You looked away from his curious eyes and sighed as you thought. “Okay. Where am I?” You looked back at the pretty man. He was silent for a moment before he spoke. “Eden.” You nodded as you thought some more. “Uh, what year is it?” He opened the door to enter a warehouse before he spoke. “2310.” Your eyes widened in shock as you froze in the doorway. “What?” He nodded with a look of annoyance on his face. “Hurry and get inside.”
You were sitting on a couch, a lantern dimly lighting the space around you as the man heated up some ramen in front of you. You laughed a bit and guessed that some things just didn’t change even when you jumped dimensions. The guy looked up at you curiously. You spoke quietly. “Why can’t I know your name?” You looked up at him as he stirred the noodles, a blanket of silence falling over you as he pondered over your question. He grabbed one of the bowls next to the pot and served some noodles before passing the plate to you. He answered as he blew on his own noodles. “Because I don’t think I’m supposed to exist.”
You slowly put your food down as you looked at him. “What do you mean?” He locked eyes with you. “I’ve met me before.” You blinked in confusion. He sighed. “There’s only supposed to be one you no matter how many dimensions there are. The only time there should be two of you is if you’re going back or forward to a time that you existed. And you should always have memories when you’re traveling through time or dimension.” He paused for a second. “I have zero memories. So that’s why I don’t think I should exist.”
After that, you both opted to finish your food in silence. You were thinking over his words. You wondered if you, too, were not supposed to exist because you had zero memory of your life at all. You looked up as the guy put his bowl down in front of him. “I think I might know why you’re here.” You sat up a bit and leaned forward to listen. “I think you were sent here to save me.” You looked at him in confusion. “Well, I got you. Now what?” He shook his head. “I mean the real me. The one with a name and memories.” You nodded as you thought his words over. “Okay. How do I find you and save you?”
He spoke quietly. “You need to use the cromer. You know how to use it right?” You nodded hesitantly as you remembered the instructions in the books that were laying in your bag. “I’m in another dimension. It’s a bit like this place, but a bit worse.” He chuckled nervously. “You need to be careful. I’m trapped there from what I remember and I’m sure there’s constantly guardians going in and out of the place to keep anyone from saving me.” You nodded as you thought of everything he was saying. “You have to go alone. I can’t come with you. But don’t worry, you can’t leave until the full moon in a couple of days, so I’ll be here with you until then.” You didn’t know what to think as you nodded at the guy’s words.
You slept at the warehouse in the presence of the man with the pretty smile. You felt so restless as you fell into a busy night of dreaming. The dreams were strange and you couldn’t put your finger on why they seemed so familiar when you woke up the next morning, dazed and a light fog hanging in your brain as you looked at the notebooks with the guy.
You couldn’t stop thinking of the boys from your dream. You looked at the guy as you thought a little more. Why did he seem so familiar? You looked at his mouth and saw his pretty smile flash in your head. The boy in your dream had the same pretty smile, but he looked different from the person who was sitting beside you. The boy in your dream was younger, but his face was sad, worry lines creased into his forehead and hair long and shabby as it hung in front of his eyes. You looked back down to the notebook as you thought some more. You remembered another boy with light colored hair. His face seemed lighter and more at ease than the first boy. He had the prettiest smile and seemed so carefree.
You couldn’t stop wondering who aho all these boys were and what their connection was with this situation. You sighed in frustration as you looked at the man beside you. “I don’t think you’re the only person I have to save.” The man looked at you with a raised eyebrow as you spoke. “I had a lot of dreams last night and there were a lot of people in them. I don’t know who any of them are but you were there, so I’m assuming they’re all people I have to save.” He nodded as he continued looking at the pages on the table.
You and the guy with the pretty smile had spent the next couple days reading up on all the information you could get from the notebooks and packing as much knowledge as you could for when the time came that you would need it. The guy had also taken you back to the apartment multiple times to change your clothes and switch out your shoes for ones better for running.
The night had finally come. You had been nervous all day, tummy turning and your leg unable to stop shaking. “You’ll be fine. Let’s go lay down, ok?” The sun had already started to set but your nerves had not. The pretty boy stood behind you as you settled under the covers that were on top of the mattress in the corner. You looked up at his eyes as you tried to settle in. “Can you lay with me for a little while?” He nodded and got in beside you, pulling the covers up to his chin cutely.
You sighed as you closed your eyes in an attempt at falling asleep. “Thank you.” You opened your eyes at the sound of his voice. “What for? I haven’t done anything.” You chuckled lightly as you spoke. “For going to save me. I know you’ll be able to do it.” You nodded silently to yourself. “I wish I’ll remember you after this is all done and be able to find you one day.” You nodded again. “I hope so too.” You laid there in silence for a while. “Close your eyes and try to sleep now. I’ll be right here.” You nodded as you closed your eyes and started to drift off.
You opened your eyes because of the bright light shining in your eyes. “Ugh, can you close the windows? How am I supposed to sleep like this?” You groaned as you squeezed your eyes a little tighter. But you had gotten no response, so you cracked your eyes open as you sat up from the comfortable mattress. You quickly stood from the bed when you saw someone standing there. He was silent and dressed head to toe in black, big fedora and a mask hiding his features from your eyes.
You looked to his hand where the bright glow had emitted from. You looked back up. “Can I go?” He stood there holding the cromer in front of him. It was like he was telling you ‘take it. Take it and go.’ So you slowly stepped forward and reached forward. You took one last look at the man before you took hold of the glowing cromer from his hand. As you slowly turned it over, the world changed, walls peeling away at the seems like wallpaper to reveal a new wall. And then the world went black.

illusion — seonghwa
Tumblr media
series ml
— rating / genre: pg-15 / sci-fi, dystopian
— warnings: ocean, mentions feeling of drowning, panicky feeling throughout, two really short eating scenes, feeling disoriented, I think that's it for this story
— word count: 3.1k
— summary: waking up in the realm seonghwa has been dropped in isn't exactly what you imagined it to be. rescuing him from another realm you already didn't know was one thing. but here, there's more to everything than meets the eye and you learn firsthand that you can't always trust your sight.
[ start ]
“y/n!” You could hear someone screaming your name, voice hoarse and panic-stricken. “y/n!” You couldn’t hear the person clearly past all the stuff in your ears. What was in your ears? You tried to respond but your throat felt clogged with something, hindering your ability to speak. You began to panic at the discovery. “y/n!” Suddenly, your body felt lighter as you pried your eyes open. There was a light above you guiding you to what seemed like another world. And when you finally were able to open your eyes,  you could see Hongjoong sitting peacefully beside you as he looked forward.
You slowly sat up as you tried to take in your surroundings. “Joong?” He looked at you from over his shoulder. “Where are we?” Hongjoong gave you a smile as he gestured forward with his head. “I think we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.” Confused, you shifted so you could look forward and saw the place from your dream. Except, not exactly. This place had a gray haze floating around, hindering your vision from seeing past a couple feet in front of you. But you could still tell where you were. The sand was moist and the air was cool. It felt comfortable beneath your heavy body. “My head hurts. I think I’m going to take a nap before we go look around.” Hongjoong nodded in agreement, so you closed your eyes and drifted back to sleep.
It didn’t feel like you slept for long the next time you opened your eyes, but somehow the days seemed to have come and gone multiple times. You squinted as you sat up and looked around. The sun was up now, high in the sky and beaming down onto your face. You could also hear people talking and laughing around you. You sat up and looked around. Families were laughing together, finding solace from the sun under their umbrellas as young kids ran into the ocean ahead of you with boogie boards. Couples floated happily among the waves of the cool water and others cracked open frozen drinks to cool their bodies down. You looked beside you to see Hongjoong lying with a pair of sunglasses over his eyes, resting amidst the festivities surrounding you.
You reached over to shake Hongjoong awake. “Joong, wake up. Look around!” Hongjoong stirred in his spot, groaning as he sat up from the sand. “Why do I have such a bad headache?” He paused for a moment as he took in his surroundings. “And where did all these people come from?” You shrugged as you looked around. “I don’t know, but I think we should look around and see if we can find that guy.” You tried to think of the boy from your dreams but your mind seemed really fuzzy.
“Hey, can you remember what he looked like?” Hongjoong sat there for a moment, looking around as he thought. He tilted his head as he looked back at you. “Not really, but I’m sure once we wake up a bit more it’ll come back to us. Don’t worry.” You could see his eyes shift with worry as he tried to meet your eyes. You nodded as you tried to find comfort in his words. You trust him and you believed that you were better off together than with just one of you.
You sighed as you leaned back on your arms. “We should get something to eat. I’m feeling really hungry all of a sudden.” Hongjoong nodded as he stood up, reaching his hand out to help pull you up. Suddenly, a boy ran by and bumped into Hongjoong, causing him to stumble into your arms. It felt like a fog had settled over your brain when the boy flashed you a smile before he went back to playing with the others ahead of him. You watched him as he ran into the water, wondering why you felt so fuzzy and confused all of a sudden.
You were walking beside Hongjoong, both of you quiet and just filling time as you thought of what to do next. “Hey, Joong?” He hummed in response. You took a moment to really think over your question before you asked it. “Is it just me, or does your brain feel all fuzzy and dazed too?” Hongjoong looked over at you with confused eyes. “What do you mean? I feel perfectly fine.” You looked him in the eyes for a second before you continued. “It’s just.” You looked around, searching for a way to explain your words when you saw something.
“Look.” Hongjoong looked where you were pointing. “What? What am I looking at?” You rolled your eyes as you made your way towards the direction you were pointing. “Who just falls asleep in their car like that?” You had taken a look around and realized the previously bustling streets around you were empty. “Hey, weren’t there people here like two seconds ago?” Hongjoong looked around as you looked down at the man laying in the topless car.
“Something’s not right. We should wake him up.” You reached over to shake the man’s shoulder. “Are you crazy? What for? We don’t know who he is!” You didn’t look away from the sleeping man. “I’m telling you, something doesn’t feel right.” You shook the guy a little harder. “Hey! Excuse me! Wake up!” You raised your voice a bit as the panic began to settle in your body. The man’s head snapped up as you shook him a little harder than you had before.
His eyes were wide as he looked at you and Hongjoong. You could see as he became more aware and woke up fully. He looked around the streets and down at his body and looked a bit confused. “Hey, are you alright?” He shook his head a bit hesitant. “Where am I?” Hongjoong chuckled a bit at the man’s question. “Slept that good? We don’t know either, buddy.” The guy stared at you both as he tried to figure out what had happened. “My name’s Seonghwa, not buddy.” He looked annoyed at Hongjoong’s words as he sat up. “I was having the weirdest dream.” He rubbed his forehead as he thought some more. Then he looked up to meet your eyes. “Come to think of it, you guys were there too.” And that’s when you had realized that you had found him.
You were sitting together in a cafe trying to catch Seonghwa up on whatever you could. But you were having a hard time remembering exactly what you needed to tell him. “Joong, my head hurts. I can’t think at all right now.” You groaned at the dull throb in your temples. Hongjoong sighed at your complaint. “Maybe try taking a nap. Didn’t that help earlier?” You pouted as you nodded. “A little bit. But I don’t wanna sleep the whole day away trying to get rid of this headache.” Hongjoong nodded in agreement. “I’ve had this raging headache for as long as I can remember today, too.” For some reason, Seonghwa’s words stuck with you as you closed your eyes and drifted off to sleep.
“y/n! Wake up!” You could feel cold droplets of water hit your face as you slowly woke up. Your face scrunched as you lifted your hand above your face and finally opened your eyes. “Joong? What’s going on?” Hongjoong wasted no time in pulling you up from the sand you were just laying on. “We gotta get out of here, the water’s rising fast.” You looked down to see that the ocean had risen enough to cover your shoes. “What?” You looked at Hongjoong, confusion taking over your features as you saw the familiar gray haze floating around the beach. “Hurry!” And as Hongjoong pulled you, something flashed in your eyes, bright and blinding you for a few seconds.
You sat up with a loud gasp. “y/n?” You looked up to see Hongjoong looking at you with concerned eyes. You looked beside him to see Seonghwa was staring at you too. “Something weird is going on. We were just–” You cut yourself off as you tried to think of what you were trying to say. “Nevermind.” Seonghwa was silent as Hongjoong carried on with his previous conversation.
You were zoning out as Hongjoong continued talking, not aware of anything but the fact that he had changed the topic yet again. “y/n!” You looked up when you heard your name. “What?” The boys looked at you a bit confused. You stared back just as confused. “You didn’t call my name?” They both looked at each other as they shook their heads. You huffed as they went back to their conversations and you went back to zoning out. What the hell was going on here? “y/n!”
Maybe, I should try to focus on whoever’s calling me. You decided to close your eyes and focus as hard as you could. You sat there with your eyes shut tight as you tried to zone in on the voice in your head, but nothing happened. You took a deep breath to calm your nerves before you relaxed the tense muscles in your body and tried again. And that’s when you heard it.
“y/n!” You could hear waves crashing and the whipping of wind past your ears. You opened your eyes and there he was. “There you are. You need to quit zoning out on me!” You tugged Hongjoong towards you with the arm he was pulling you along with. “Woah. We have to move, the water’s rising too fast.” You pulled him again. “Joong, I figured it out!” The smile on your face weirded Hongjoong out. “What have you figured out? Can’t this wait?” You shook your head. “It can’t. Because I don’t know when I’ll go back, I haven’t figured out how to control this yet.” Hongjoong looked at you questionly as he began pulling you along with him, seeking shelter off the coast and further into the town you saw up ahead. “What are you talking about?”
You let out an airy laugh, kind of exhausted from all the back and forth and confusion you had experienced. “I think we’re in a dream right now.” Hongjoong scoffed at your words. “News flash, y/n, but this is no dream. And we’ll die if we don’t get a move on.” You shook your head. “Not here. This isn’t the dream. We found the person we’re looking for in the dream, but I think we have to figure out how to find him here and wake him up.” Hongjoong sighed loudly as he trudged through the wet sand. “I don’t think you realize that you’re dreaming right now, do you?” He shook his head. “I think I’ve known this entire time. My brain is so hazy and I can’t think straight. It seemed really weird, but I didn’t want to freak you out since you were already being weird.” You nodded in appreciation as you took shelter in the lifeguard shack just past the sand and closed the door. “Don’t freak out, but I’m probably gonna zone out again.” You went to close your eyes and focus before you remembered something and reopened them. “Don’t stop calling my name or talking to me. Hearing your voice helps me focus and come back to you.” Hongjoong nodded as he took your hand. You could feel the way he trembled as you gave his hand a squeeze and closed your eyes again.
“I’m kind of hungry. You want anything?” Your eyes opened to see Hongjoong and Seonghwa looking at a menu. Seonghwa was the first to meet your eyes. “Hungry?” You shook your head as you tried to remember what had just happened. “y/n, don’t forget.” You stared at Seonghwa for a second, trying to figure out where that voice had come from. “Actually, I could use a burger.”
“Hey, y/n. Why do you keep zoning out today?” You froze in your spot after you took a bite of your burger. “What?” Hongjoong swallowed the soda in his mouth before he repeated his question. “Why do you keep zoning out today? You’ve been doing it all day. Your eyes will kinda gloss over and you’ll just sit there like you don’t even have any thoughts.” You nodded as you tried to think of how to respond when you heard something. “Wake up! We gotta go!”
A feeling of panic surged through your body as you tried your hardest to find the words. You remembered. “Hongjoong, Seonghwa, we’re in a dream. And you need to wake up right now.” Hongjoong looked at you confused. “Joong, don’t you remember why we’re here?” Hongjoong went silent as he racked his brain for a memory, before he shook his head. “We’re here for him.” You pointed at Seonghwa who was sitting silently as he listened to your conversation. “We’re here to save him, remember Joong?” Hongjoong sat there with a confused look on his face. You sighed as you looked at Seonghwa. “You were dreaming something earlier, right?” Seonghwa nodded at your words. “You were on a beach, weren’t you? It was gray and foggy. And maybe you closed your eyes for a nap?” Seonghwa stared back at you wide eyed. “Seonghwa, you need to wake up. Wake up and look for us.” You could feel the dream slowly slipping away as you tried your hardest to get in any last words. Just as the world was flashing in your eyes, you said one last thing. “Open your eyes, Seonghwa!”
Water was pooled around your legs as you looked around the lifeguard shack. “It’s about time! Hurry up and get out of here!” You nodded as you got to your feet and ran out of the shack and towards the street. “Where do we go?” Hongjoong pointed in a direction that was covered by a thick haze. “Earlier, the haze lifted just enough to see a house on top of a cliff in that direction.” You nodded as you followed after him.
“I don’t think I can go back, Joong.” Hongjoong grabbed your hand as you pushed through the heavy rain. He was trying to comfort you. “I told them and then the world just slipped away from me.” Hongjoong sighed as he mulled over your words. “It’s ok, y/n. We’ll find him again. I know we will.” You nodded as you squeezed his hand.
The trek was long and difficult, but you had made it. You and Hongjoong were more than soaked, clothes heavy with water and skin covered in goosebumps. You were both shivering from how cold you were, wind making the feeling ten times worse. You sighed audibly as you reached the front door. “Finally. Hopefully there’s warm clothes and something to eat in there.” You were laughing with Hongjoong when the door of the house slamming open startled you. You looked forward with wide eyes as you took in the situation. There he was. Seonghwa in all his realness and not some dream you kept getting stuck in.
“Seonghwa!” You hardly knew the guy, but you couldn’t help yourself when you ran forward and engulfed him in a tight hug. The overwhelming feeling of relief and happiness flooded your body. You couldn’t help the tears from falling from your eyes at the feeling of Seonghwa’s body between your arms. “You have no idea how glad I am that you’re here in the flesh right now.” You could hear both Hongjoong and Seonghwa chuckle. “As happy as I am that we found him, can we please continue the lovefest inside? It’s cold out here.”
You couldn’t help the smile that stayed on your face as you shoved a rice ball in your mouth. “We’ll finish up here and then make our way out okay?” You nodded as you took a drink of water from the bottle in front of you. Hongjoong had taken the role in explaining everything to Seonghwa and with him all caught up, you filled your tummies and prepared to leave once again. Hongjoong reached into your bag that he was wearing and pulled out the cromer. “Where do we go now?” You looked up to see Hongjoong blankly staring at the cromer. You swallowed what you had in your mouth and put your bottle down as you thought of what came next.
“We think of who else we saw in our dream and we go there.” Your statement was simple, yet it stirred something up in the two boys who sat in front of you. You could see it in the way their eyes glazed over in deep thought, trying to think of the boys from their dreams. Seonghwa couldn’t help the words that tumbled from his lips. “They’re real?” You stared at Seonghwa as he spoke. “Those boys from my dreams. I thought they were just dreams or a figment of my imagination.” You nodded in reply. “They’re real and we’re going to save every last one of you.” You gave Seonghwa a soft smile as you shifted to sit on the ground. With a hand on the cromer, you spoke. “You’ll have to put your hand on this and close your eyes. But first tell me about the dream.” Seonghwa looked up at you and Hongjoong before he closed his eyes and thought. “It’s a little hazy.” You looked over to meet Hongjoong’s eyes in disappointment. “He looks so scared and confused. I think he lost someone.” Seonghwa’s eyes opened and looked into your own, worried and scared. You nodded. “Put your hand here and close your eyes. Keep thinking of him.” You took in a deep breath before slowly, your eyes closed too.
The familiar bright glow of the cromer prodded at your eyes. When you opened your eyes, you had seen that Hongjoong’s eyes were open as well and staring blankly at the hourglass that you held in your hands. “We have to wake him up, Joong.” Hongjoong startled out of his trance at the sound of your voice. He looked a bit scared as he met your eyes. “I’m scared, y/n. What if something bad happens while we’re there.” You grabbed Hongjoong’s other hand with your own and gave him a soft smile. “We’ll be ok. I promise.” Hongjoong looked in your eyes as you spoke and after finding what he searched for, he gave you a light nod back.
“Seonghwa, open your eyes.” Seonghwa was quick to startle awake at the touch of your hands on his shoulder. You smiled at him as he calmed down. He looked down at the cromer that was between the three of you. “We just have to turn it and it’ll send us there.” You spoke gently. “Don’t stop thinking about the dream.” You spoke one last time before you slowly turned the cromer over and then once again, the world around peeled back until it all just turned black.

ateez as songs — headcanon
pairing: member x gn!reader
rating / genre: G , fluff central
warnings: pet names (love, baby)
word count: 1k total
plot: ateez as songs and moments that you think really make them that song with scenarios.
[ start ]
・❥・hongjoong
↦ one day at a time // Hongjoong was always ready to pick you up when you needed it. His love for you went beyond your wildest imagination and he always knew what you needed. He’d be your punching bag when you were angry, your tissue when you cried, and your partner when you were excited. There was no doubt about how dedicated you were to each other and how far – within reason – you would go for each other. You were each other’s light in the darkness, walking together through your darkest times – and boy, did you guys have dark times. Hongjoong had a way with helping you break through walls you never thought you could break, finally able to be yourself and seek others for anything. // “You’ll be alright, just take it slow, one day at a time. I’ll be right here, love.” Hongjoong stared in your eyes, hands in his own as he comforted your worries.
・❥・seonghwa
↦ still here // Seonghwa always wants you to know that he’s there and that you can always count on him. He’s always by your side even when he’s not physically there. He would dedicate your time apart to sending you little video messages and making sure you never felt alone. You would go to the end of the world for each other and wait for each other forever. Your love is strong and your bond unbreakable. You were never afraid of being apart or what might happen in your relationship, you were both so secure and passionate about each other and there was no doubt you would be together until the end. // “I believe in our destiny together and that we can’t ever be separated from each other. I’ll always be right here even when I’m not.”
・❥・yunho
↦ dancing like butterfly wings // You were always the reason for Yunho’s smile. Your life was always full of excitement and love with Yunho around. Yunho made it a goal of his to make sure you always felt happy and loved. He would wake you up with gentle kisses on your nose and cheeks, tickle you when you were mad at him for the dumbest reasons, and wipe your tears away when you cried. No matter what, he always wanted to be the reason for your smile. // Yunho couldn’t take the huge smile off his face as he danced around the living room with you, music vibrating in your chests and thumping through your veins.
・❥・yeosang
↦ feeling like i do // Yeosang’s love for you is the purest and strongest form there is. He worships you completely, always making sure you know you’re loved and cared for by him when you leave for work every morning. Yeosang wholeheartedly believes that you were made for each other, bodies moving in harmony, fingers fitting perfectly together, and souls always in tune with one another. You both always say you’re soulmates, the connection far too strong to be otherwise. You are complete when in each other’s arms and you don’t think you could imagine a life without him in it. // “In the moments when I feel you, I feel complete. I can’t imagine life without you.” Yeosang kissed your lips gently, keeping you in place to savor your taste with his hands on your cheeks.
・❥・san
↦ promise // San is your safe space and always has been. He’s always been there for you and helped you get back up when you needed him most. He is your strength and your reason. His promise to always be by your side and hold your hand is always on your mind and keeps you going. Nothing can take you down when you have him by your side. // “Don’t worry, I'll be there.” San pulls you close and holds you in a tight embrace. “Remember what I promised. I’ll always be here to hold your hand.”
・❥・mingi
↦ thank u // Mingi has always been one to tell you how much you mean to him and how grateful he is for you. You were there for him when he thought he was alone and you were always there to lend your shoulder when he needed it. He loved that he could lean on you and depend on you to help fill the void in your shared home whenever it grows a little too big. Mingi is thankful for your presence at his side, walking together day by day, and making everyday a good day. // “Thank you for being on my side. With you by my side, this rough world is a little easier to walk.” Mingi couldn’t hold back the tight hug he gave you.
・❥・wooyooung
↦ sunrise // You and Wooyoung’s love language was words of affirmation and physical touch. While Wooyoung needed a tight hug and head scratches at all times, you constantly seeked words of affirmation from him – and Wooyoung always knew exactly what you needed to hear without you saying anything. Your love with Wooyoung was unbreakable and the connection you shared was so in sync, your affection becoming second nature. Wooyoung would walk into the living room from behind you as you read a book and you’d immediately shift and beckon him over with a flick of your wrist, all without lifting your eyes from your book. You would come into the kitchen as Wooyoung prepared your dinner and he would look up at you and flash the sweetest smile, asking what you’ve been up to and praising you for your hardwork and big ideas. // “You don’t have to worry, baby. You’re doing great.” Wooyoung gave you a soft smile as he locked eyes with you, hands on either side of your thighs on the counter making you feel safe and reassured.
・❥・jongho
↦ aurora // Everything was brighter when you were together. You were the pretty lights hanging from the overhangs of the stores during Christmas, the gentle breeze that blew through your guys hair as you picked strawberries, and the intoxicating smell of fresh bread from the bakery below your shared apartment. You were everything and anything that was a part of Jongho’s everyday life. He could see you dancing around as you gently hummed Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, decorations being meticulously placed around your apartment. You were his love and the light of his life. // “I'll never be scared of the dark again when you’re by my side.” Jongho’s fingers gently caressed your cheek.
