Headcanons - Lego Ninjago Altered Timeline
SEASONS ONE - THREE SPECIFIC
To save myself scroll time, I’ll be posting the altered timeline in chunks.- If I edit any previous timeline stuff in future timeline posts, I’ll post a warning containing the edits for the timeline before going in and editing the timeline post itself.
If this causes major issues in canon... I’m a fanfic writer. Beyond this point I may just start crafting loopholes (like I haven’t already--).
I will not write out every little detail of every episode, I tried to leave out things that remained unchanged- so if you don’t understand what’s going on, I’d advise opening the wiki and reading the episode summary as you read the notes if you’re lost.
This focuses p much on just... How Cel’s involvement changes the timeline, as well as my timeline edits that’ll be for Cel and Zane’s Ninjago verses.
A few minor explanations before we get started...
There is an additional prophecy about a samurai who will fall from a land unknown, the Defender of the Ninja- although this one is nowhere near as widely known/cared about as the other prophecies.
The far-off history of the series will remain by-and-large intact for the time being.
Celexa’s knowledge of the series extends only to the end of season one prior to their involvement (if you’re from my other blogs/aware of my earlier works, you know what I mean by this).
Celexa is meant to be an embodiment of light itself, and their main power is Light Manipulation- they are not an Elemental Master of Light. They maintain their normal human form while the others all maintain their Lego forms (I don’t mind swapping this up in threads with those who are uncomfy with it so everyone has human forms- while it is a plot point for Cel, that’s easily swapped out with ‘from another universe’/‘mega-uncomfy with being perceived’/social anxiety).
PRE-SEASON ONE
Celexa appears just outside Wu’s Monastery a year before the events of the pilot, crashing into the side of the mountain it’s on and nearly melting a hole through the entire mountain.
Celexa is trained by Wu after a short conversation.
Celexa does their best to repair the damage they caused. They begin working on illusions and keeping their true form hidden.
Master Wu goes to find the elemental ninja (Cole, Jay, Zane, and Kai).
Zane stumbles across Celexa undergoing training with Master Wu.
Celexa briefly chats with Zane about their own recruitment before Master Wu asks them to return to training.
They stop using illusions around Zane and the other ninja.
Most of the rest of the pilot unfolds as is canon, save that Celexa joins for the ride and helps to train the ninja in combat, having had more experience than the others in this universe.
It’s revealed after the others learn Spinjitzu that Celexa cannot do Spinjitzu, due to being a non-Lego entity (or so everyone thinks, although Wu has faith). While the others go to face off against Garmadon for the remainder of the pilot, Celexa stays behind with Nya.
This results in Nya receiving minor training from Celexa (although she’s already a pretty good fighter at this point in her life).
START BACKSTORY EVENT ONE FOR NINJAGO!CEL.
SEASON ONE
“Rise of the Snakes” - Wu’s scroll that Kai finds in Episode One is two scrolls- one about the Green Ninja, and one about the Defender of the Ninja.
Rest of episode one plays out as normal. The Hypnobrai are released, Lloyd uses them to raid a town for sweets, etc., etc.
“Home” - Celexa goes with Wu and Nya to save the ninja. Celexa tries to defend Zane when they all return to the burned-down monastery, but Zane disappears regardless.
Rest of episode plays out about the same, save that during the night around the campfire, the ninja learn about Celexa’s weakness to darkness/shadows, and Celexa learns about the Green Ninja + The Samurai Defender.
“Snakebit” - Celexa tries to help clean the ship, but ultimately gets pulled into going with Wu and Nya to get supplies. When Jay’s parents visit Destiny’s Bounty (a ship found by Zane in the previous episode), Celexa meets the parents (who immediately take a shining to them, much to their confusion - even moreso when they reach right through Cel’s illusion and aren’t cold upon seeing Cel’s true form).
Everyone travels to Jay’s parents’ junkyard the next day, with Cel immediately on edge while the others are less so (until they find Jay’s parents).
When the ninja take off on their golden-weapon-vehicles (man this show is a ride), Celexa remains behind with Wu and Nya. The rest of the episode plays out as Canon.
“Never Trust a Snake” - Cel and Nya train below-deck on stealth while the ninja train above-deck.
The rest of the episode plays out as-Canon, with Cel staying aboard Destiny’s Bounty doing illusion and light training with Wu until Lloyd is brought aboard.
Cel perfects their illusions in terms of detail, but not actual mass.
“Can of Worms” - Celexa offers to help Lloyd with fixing the results of his work, although they break away from this when Nya is about to leave the airship (having spotted her preparing to do so). Nya relates worrying about what the ninja are doing/getting into at the moment, and reveals her samurai suit.
Nya and Celexa- dressed as the robotic samurai and ‘the Violet Ninja’ respectively- go off to make sure the ninja are alright.
The rest of the episode plays out as Canon, save that Celexa returns to trying to help Lloyd fix all of his pranks after.
“The Snake King” - Celexa, disguised as the ‘Violet Ninja’, helps the Samurai (Nya) in saving the Mega Monster Amusement Park before the other ninja can arrive.
Nya and Celexa trade off after this point- first Nya does the saving, then Cel, on and on as the ninja get more furious at both, calling the Violet Ninja a ‘traitor’.
Cel sees Lloyd get a disguise and go onto a Serpentine bus when they stop in to check on him. They alert Nya, and ultimately, both they and Nya are captured by the Serpentine.
The fight between Samurai and ninja is about the same, save that Cel is involved on the Samurai’s side (illusion constantly up). When they all escape, Cel remains on the Samurai armor until Zane tries to grab them, to which they fall.
Zane follows, and while Kai learns about Nya’s secret, Zane learns about Cel’s- Cel manages to convince him not to tell the others due to the logic of having a rival the other ninja will go full-throttle against, and refuses to tell Zane who the Samurai is for the same reason.
Zane defends the Violet Ninja while Kai defends the Samurai, both now have their suspicions.
“Tick Tock” - No changes, Celexa stays aboard the ship the entire episode. They’re filled in about what happened by Zane later.
“Once Bitten, Twice Shy” - Celexa offers to take Jay’s place while they look for one of the four Fangblades at Mega Monster Amusement Park. They are denied, but follow in secret and jump in to help when the serpents are found.
After Zane freezes Cole and Kai, Celexa actually manages to use Spinjitzu for the first time- but they are unable to catch Pythor fleeing with the Fangblade. They stay behind to help unfreeze Zane, Cole, and Kai after Zane’s... Cold-misfire. During the fight, it’s revealed that they are the Violet Ninja.
BETWEEN EPISODES - Cel is given a cream-colored samurai outfit by Wu that seems to be hand-made. Wu tells them that they are The Defender, so their destiny is intertwined with the others’... And they need to keep them all (the ninja) safe.
“The Royal Blacksmiths” - Kai also points out that Celexa doesn’t have their true potential yet either, Celexa notes that they aren’t an elemental ninja like the others (cue Kai screaming ‘why am I the only one’ when Cole says ‘I got it’. This boy has issues). Most of the rest of the episode occurs as Canon, since Cel cannot be part of the quartet.- Cel tails the other ninja throughout the episode, although they hide from Cole’s father for most of it (reveal themselves only when Cole and his dad supposedly get crushed).
BETWEEN EPISODES - After the mission, Nya notices Cel has a thing for Zane. Cole overhears.
“The Green Ninja” - Cel has no objections to Garmadon being a guest aboard Destiny’s Bounty. When the other ninja refuse to let Garmadon bunk with them, Cel offers their own room (denied by Wu almost instantly).
They join the Ninja, Wu, and Garmadon in going into the Fire Temple (now unstable). The bit about ‘traveling by shadows’ puts them near the edge of passing out and they are told not to fight.
The light of the lava gives them (a little) energy once more, Cel teams up with Garmadon to save Lloyd.
Cel helps with getting Garmadon away from the volcano, whispering something unknown in his ear as he’s pulled to safety by everyone but Kai and Lloyd.
“All of Nothing” - Cel ends up not being noticed by the snakes when the ninja/Nya/Wu are all captured, and they spend the majority of the episode playing distraction- which tires them out to the point of collapse until Garmadon reappears with his skeleton army.
Zane realizes he has feelings for Cel (and Cole notices, so now the Earth Ninja is just-- ‘guys please’).
Just-- GARMADON IS SO FUCKING WHOLESOME TOWARDS HIS SON I CAN’T---
Cel isn’t going to hang around for the party at the end of the episode- mix is gonna go hide in their room for the night.
“Rise of The Great Devourer” - Cel helps Lloyd get free of his bonds after he warns the ship of Pythor being aboard (also help distract Pythor). Cel drives the ship so that Lloyd doesn’t crash it into the ground. Rest of episode plays out as Canon.
“Day of the Great Devourer” - Cel loses it and has to be dragged away from the Great Devourer by the other ninja (actually tries to attack the thing). Tries to hold the snake off with light attacks.
Zane helps Cel escape when they all abandon ship. Rest of episode plays out as Canon, with Cel being the driving force that makes the ninja give their golden weapons to Garmadon so he can destroy the snake itself.
END OF SEASON ONE.
Cel’s powers by the end of season one: Light Illusion (moderate), Light Beam (moderate), Light Absorption (high), Light Embodiment (master).
SEASON TWO (GOD SAVE ME)
Takes place roughly a week after the end of the previous season.
“Darkness Shall Rise” - Cel helps with fixing the city- it’s noted that they have maintained their powers over light (the assumption by the others is that they had no golden weapon, and thus, nothing to channel their power through to begin with).
Cel is unable to get a job due to their actual form, so they stay behind in the suite to try to train Lloyd.  They briefly leave the room to train so Lloyd panics for a minute when Scales shows up.
Cel wakes up when they feel a sudden surge of energy, they’re noticed by Wu right as he gives his ominous warning.
“Pirates vs. Ninja” - Cel starts learning how to read the local language (jumping the vocal language gap b/c initial TP powers that no longer exist after they fell to Ninjago pre-season one). This training is momentarily paused at Darreth’s Dojo b/c dude’s a bitch.
Rest of episode plays out similarly/identically to canon, save that Cel also helps in dealing with the pirates.
“Double Trouble” - There’s also a ‘Bizarro’ counterpart for Cel.- Although Cel went to the school with the ninja so shot.
Cel’s too wiped after that surprise attack to use a light-shot to get them out of the ‘prisoner’ room.
Excuse me but Bizarro!Zane kissing regular Cel and regular Zane somehow- somehow- Mclosing it? Yes. Please. GIMME.
Rest of the episode follows decently with canon. Beyond this point, things are going to spiral out of control in terms of ‘canon’ vs. ‘fanfiction’. It’s safe to assume (beyond this point) that Cel takes part in most of the activities seen with the ninja on-screen, unless otherwise noted (although I could’ve said this sooner but fight).
“Ninjaball Run” - Cel enters using a light platform/ball (taking it a bit literally there, mate). However... They spend most of the race helping racers get back to the city instead of actually racing. This leads to them actually figuring out how to make hard-light objects and items while the others are all racing (also, I guess this means their speed is-- a trite faster than any of the vehicles, which they don’t think about until the race is over).
“Child’s Play” - Cel takes Lloyd’s side when the ninja refuse to let him take a break to relax (however, they do go off with the ninja doo-doo-doo).
The whole team once they hear the Grundal can be defeated with light: immediately turn and look at Cel. Due to being younger, they’re unable to defeat the Grundal- and the episode plays out as canon.
“Wrong Place, Wrong Time” - Cel chases Garmadon when he runs and hides (using light manipulation to keep themself hidden until the last second). Present ninja are caught mid-planning by past-Cel (12:36), both versions of Cel try to help.
“The Stone Army” - Cel offers to do the dragon-crap job. Gets stuck doing it with Lloyd, but the two do bond a little over doing the sh!tty (fight me) task.
Cel uses a barrier to keep the Stone Warrior from entering the room the group is in shortly thereafter (they warn that they can’t keep the barrier up forever).
When the Dark Island rises from the depths at the end of the episode, Cel immediately feels unsettled- although they cannot figure out why.
BETWEEN EPISODES - Cole forces Zane and Cel to realize their love is not unrequited.
Cel spends more time with Lloyd, trying to help him actually come to terms with how he’d need to fight his father.
They also spend more time training in general- as do all the others.
“The Day Ninjago Stood Still” - Cel is separated from the others while dealing with the stone warriors, their barriers have thankfully gotten far stronger since last time- they use these to try to save as many citizens as possible from the stone warriors.
They catch Wu and Misako when the two jump, and deposit them on Destiny’s Bounty, before falling onto the surface themself (spent nearly the whole day using light powers, and with night approaching, they’re running out of steam fast).
Just assume every time ‘The Final Battle’ is mentioned, it’s instead referred to as ‘The Ultimate Battle’.
“The Last Voyage” - While the others all say their goodbyes above-deck, Cel hides (because crowds and they aren’t having to defend atm so NOPE).
Once the Starteeth are noticed, they focus on shielding the others from the starteeth. They get knocked unconscious partway through the storm, and powers fade out.
Cel ends up taking Jay’s cup after he makes a fool of himself (a little more tea woot). Also, minor joke where Jay asks why Cel didn’t defend him, and they reply that he’s a pretty weak ninja if he can’t ‘defend’ himself from some hot tea.
There’s also a brief moment where Cel and Zane’s father chat since Cole mentions Zane and Cel are dating now.
“The Island of Darkness” - Cel does not seem to have changed (did not partake in giving of powers to Lloyd, although they were present)... Until they activate a light barrier that’s nearly ten meters thick, crushing several Stone Warriors to death in the process. Why their powers have taken a sudden increase in ability is unknown.
“The Last Hope” - Cel is helping Nya at the start of the episode.
Cel hears the Stone Warriors arriving and uses a barrier to stop them, although the clock still ultimately strikes zero... And when it does, Cel’s barrier shatters, Nya is captured, all the things.
“Return of the Overlord” - Cel is made to go with Wu, Misako, and Lloyd instead of staying to fight Evil!Nya.
Cel reaches their true potential but ultimately loses. A Stone Warrior hits them hard enough that they go flying- straight back into the Temple of Light.
“Rise of the Spinjitzu Master” - Cel is found at the temple, bruised but alive. Cel uses light powers to fly back to Ninjago City, gets blasted out of the sky by The Overlord (feels weak the second they get near the city).- They manage to recover in the last moment (just in time to help Lloyd along with the other ninja).
Cel (upon being hit with pure evil) falls to the steps. They do not reawaken during the final fight.
GOSH DARNIT SEEING GARMADON GOOD IS--- I’M DYING. SOMEONE PLEASE GET ME TISSUES FOR FUCK’S SAKE.
END OF SEASON TWO. END OF BACKSTORY EVENT ONE.
Cel’s powers by the end of season two: Light Illusion (high), Light Beam (high), Light Absorption (master), Light Embodiment (master), Light Wall (medium), Light Solidification (high).
SEASON THREE (THERE IS NOTHING TO SAVE ANYMORE)
I’m guessing there’s about a year timeskip between seasons here, so Cel is now 25, and Zane is 44. Neither appear to have aged. Zane’s father dies between seasons two and three. Between seasons (prior to Zane’s dad’s death), Cel learned how to repair tech- or at least repair Zane.
START BACKSTORY EVENT TWO FOR NINJAGO!CEL.
“The Surge” - Cel ends up working at the academy with the other ninja as ‘Mix Cel’.
Unlike in canon (since Zane and Cel are together) Zane is less woo’d by Pixal and more... Put off.
Cel also ends up with a Techno Blade, which they use on a futuristic hover-racecar.
“The Art of the Silent Fist” - Much like the others, Cel ends up having to wear a new suit- this one cream and purple (as they will all be for them going forward). Cel elects to stay with Zane when he offers to guard the keys.
It’s safe to assume that Pixal and Zane’s relationship won’t be happening in this AU. Although I checked the Wiki, and it looks like that’s going to complicate things... Cracks knuckles. Let’s do this.
Pixal and Cel jointly work to fix Zane up, Zane still goes out later to try to help Pixal when she gets surrounded by nindroids. Rest of episode (decently) follows Canon.
“Black Out” - Cel tries to defend Zane while he’s a bit encumbered- the bit with the magnet still happens (although Cel saves Zane when the ‘bots attempt to turn Zane into compressed parts, bip bip bip).
“The Curse of the Golden Master” - ‘Even without me one day’ I-- am dying. THANKS FOR THE STORY FLAG GARMADON I DIDN’T WANT IT.
Cel just about walks off the main path ten times because what can I say I’m a fucking sucker for aesthetic especially cave/fairy aesthetic. They have to be corrected several times by Zane so they don’t walk straight into things.
Since Zane is still incapable of using spinjitzu (not counting when Pixal is around), Cel pulls him into their own tornado and the two battle together.
“Enter the Digiverse” - Ah yes the Matrix.
When they enter the system, Cel glitches out and gains a more Lego-esque avatar (looks like their Violet Ninja illusion from S1). They don’t say, but they feel constant pain upon entering the Digiverse.
I like the idea that Zane and Cel are both struggling in S3 with feeling inadequate (to various degrees) and now they’re in the Digiverse it just gets... So much worse.
Cel’s vitals (on the other side of the system) drop off immediately.
That bit when the ninja start sinking into the ground? Yeah... Cel starts screaming bloody murder.
Cel (upon being saved) is now in their original form... And immediately starts falling through the floor once they let go of the other ninja (saved by Zane before they can fully fall through). Once they make a construct in the system, they can use that to interact with the world again instead of having to be touching one of the ninja.
The others all wake up once they ‘defeat’ The Overlord (please)... Cel... Does not.
As it turns out, the system was built for Legos, by Legos... So Cel’s body pretty much stopped working when they were put in. Their consciousness, however, is still roaming around the computers (causes glitches).
BETWEEN EPISODES - Pixal starts working on a project so Cel can escape the system (although it’s rough going).
“Codename: Arcturus” -  Mostly plays out as canon. Cel is semi-aware of the goings-on outside the system thanks to cameras and the like.
They end up being moved to a memory chip which Zane takes with when they go to Ouroborus.
Cel manages to manifest physically via light powers when Lloyd falls, helps in catching him- and immediately de-manifests their physical form. Zane notices that their memory chip seems to now be dormant.
“The Void” - Cel reawakens when the ship goes behind the comet, puts up a light barrier to keep everyone from being killed by asteroids. Much like before, they go offline for a time afterwards- Zane’s a bit more worried due to the extra energy spent.
“The Titanium Ninja” - Cel awakens upon re-entry into the atmosphere.
“You’re the Defender, we’re the Protectors- so this time, let me protect you.” -Said seconds before Zane explodes, ejects Cel’s chip which is caught by Lloyd.
I’M DEAD AND DYING THIS HURTS SO MUCH--
Pixal does not attend Zane’s funeral, meanwhile Zane and Cel work on their newer bodies jointly- which are finished and their consciousnesses uploaded at the end of said funeral.
NOTE: This suggestion will be implimented- Zane and Pixal’s storyline will probably continue mostly as it did in regular canon, save that the two are friends/bond like sibs as opposed to romantic partners.
Cel’s powers by the end of season three: Light Illusion (high), Light Beam (high), Light Absorption (master), Light Embodiment (master), Light Wall (high), Light Solidification (master).
DULLED DUE TO LOSING THEIR ORGANIC FORM/SIGHT OF THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL.

hi hi corey what's the first series to start with for ninjago <3333333
jingyi my absolute beloved !!!
okay so, ninjago is Pretty long, so here’s the order of seasons:
pilot episodes: way of the ninja, the golden weapon, king of shadows, weapons of destiny
s1: rise of the snakes
s2: legacy of the green ninja
s3: rebooted
s4: tournament of elements
s5: possession
s6: skybound
45 minute tv special: day of the departed
s7: hands of time
s8: sons of garmadon
s9: hunted
s10: march of the oni
s11: secrets of the forbidden spinjitzu
s12: prime empire
s13: master of the mountain
s14: the island
s15: seabound
so, definitely start with the four pilot episodes !!! they explain how the ninja got the golden weapons, introduce garmadon as a villain, and introduce the characters :)
s7, hands of time, is uh. one of the worst ninjago seasons if not The Worst, so just a heads up. you do need to watch day of the departed before this season, tho!
s8, sons of garmadon, is when the animation change happens as well as lloyd’s va change and it’s off putting at first, but the change in voice was necessary and i love both jillian and sam as lloyd!
s10, march of the oni, is a four episode season, episode three “the fall” (aka episode 97 of the entire show) will hurt you. i still cry when i watch it.
s11, secrets of the forbidden spinjitzu, marks the start of the “new series” where ninjago episodes are now split into eleven minute episodes! it’s really weird and tbh s11 isn’t my favorite season either, but s12, prime empire, is INCREDIBLE! definitely one of my favorite seasons, actually! oh and s11 is also split in two chapters: fire and ice!
no one asked, but my favorite seasons are one, two, eight, twelve, and thirteen :) and my favorite episodes are: the royal blacksmiths (s1 ep9), the last voyage (s2), verses (s4 ep3), temple on the haunted hill (s5 ep4), last resort (s6), the fall (s10 ep3), and like. the entirety of s13. oops.

“Kinda glad Lloyd got to be both Green and Gold while I’m stuck with Purple n’ Gold... That’s... That’s a bit easier, not gonna lie. At least I didn’t have to be told day in and day out that I had to kill my dad to save the world... Wish the others’d taken it a bit easier on ‘im...”
Tumblr media
“And I know he was pure evil- literally- but c’mon, The Overlord’s true form was a work of art!.... Wish I’d gotten a picture or somethin’....”

Zen eXtreme!Celexa Dust
Tumblr media
In my Ninjago AUs, Cel is very, very small compared to 99% of the general populace... So of course they’re going to say ‘half your’ instead of ‘your own’.
This armor is for their S1/S2 gi, the Zen eXtreme variant! If there’s a specific gi you’d like to see Cel’s version of, feel free to send it in an ask to me and I’ll get around to it (eventually, when the sun explodes).
Site where I got the pose from is here!

These are gonna take a while, but here’s two sketches of Ninjago!Celexa that I plan to digitize at some point for outfit refs.
Under the cut to save dashes.
Zen eXtreme!Cel (S1-S2)
Tumblr media
Deepstone Armor!Cel (originally ‘True Form’ but that eventually flew out the window- I’ll probably use it for their True Form ref as well anyway b/c I cannot be stopped).
