liesel: an introduction

Born to a very poor family in Springvale, gaining her Vision after discovering a terrible crop had her parents crying one night when they thought she was asleep. Upon being discovered with it in the morning, her parents were shocked, but reassured her that this meant a lot of responsibility for her. Those with Visions were surely blessed by Barbatos, and when she was older, she could likely be a hero!

Her talents were soon discovered while she stared into a fireplace, before declaring to her father that they had to put up a scarecrow to the back of the farm. Surprised, her father did as she said without any question. A month later, a horde of slimes destroyed the farm of a neighbor who had accidentally left their back gate unlocked, the fate that was narrowly avoided since the slimes were apparently scared of this new scarecrow!

From then on, Liesel was allowed to make as strange remarks as she pleased, and lo and behold, her family's crop and wealth increased, thanks to carefully taking her advice. They increased their donations to the church, helping out others in Springvale with supplies, before Liesel predicted a tragedy: the nobles of Mondstadt would attempt to kidnap her in the dead of night to attempt making her a harbinger of their desired return to the top of Mondstadt's hierarchy.

She woke up her parents in the middle of the night, explaining the vision she had seen in the flames, and the family would decide to leave. Packing up their things, they would move to Liyue and begin anew, only to then move again to Sumeru when the Fatui began to take an interest in Liesel's talents.

It was in Sumeru that Liesel's talents were recognized and given a chance as something to better hone for her own desires, thanks to a retired astrologer who had retired to Sumeru in order to pass down her teachings. The histories and intricacies of the stars were laid bare before her, and the recognition of her talent as a medium to commune with the universe were given. Before long, she was using her readings for far more than simply her family, who encouraged her to travel and make a name for herself. The wealth they had gained from her would be more than enough to provide.

And so, Liesel Krantz rebranded herself, so as to give herself a name that could be remembered for many years to come. Using various sources in the scholarly archives of Sumeru, she came up with Astraea Candelae, and would use that as a "stage name" while doing her work.

an astrologer who once hailed from mondstadt, liesel was gifted her vision from a young age, and learned how to predict the future. while initially using it to predict the best methods to ensure a rich harvest, she has since learned how to use it in order to turn up a profit. not for herself, really, but for her family who now lives in sumeru.
