it was a normal movie night with ricky. both of you buried in your blankets, your legs laying on his with his arm wrapped around your shoulder comfortingly, your head resting against his chest as you snuggle up against him, eyes focusing intently on the tv screen.

and of course, how could ricky ever focus on the movie when there’s an angel right in front of him, lying in his embrace? staring and observing you throughout the first quarter of the movie, he noticed some things and it was that you really liked to bite the skin off of your lips whenever you were focusing and how chapped your lips were.

ricky couldn’t just leave your bleeding lips be like that. before you could place your lips between your teeth again, he stops you by pecking you on the lips out of nowhere, surprising you and making you slightly jump at the sudden contact.

“what?” you chuckled at your irresistible boyfriend, confused as to why he suddenly decided that he so desperately needed his lips on yours. “stop biting the skin off of your lips. they’re bleeding now,” ricky frowned at the sight of the lips of his favourite person bleeding.

all he could think of was that it must have been painful. and what does he hate the most? the person he loves being in pain.

ricky escapes the warmth of your blankets and stood up, walking into the bathroom and disappearing out of your sight, a pout unconsciously appearing on your lips.

when he enters your sight again, you stop pouting and you see him holding a wet towel. he took his place beside you again but sitting upright this time. his hands inched towards your face, gently grabbing your chin to take a closer look at your bleeding lip and softly dabbing the cold towel on your wound.

your cheeks lit up into a red tint. though you’ve been dating ricky for a while, he never fails to make butterflies swarm in your stomach and your heart rate increase effortlessly.

“better?” he asks while quirking up an eyebrow and caressing the top of your head lovingly. once again welcoming the cozy embrace of your blankets and you regaining the warmth you were missing.

“hm, but i can’t help it. it’s a natural habit of mine to bite the skin off of my lips,” you pouted up at ricky with your blanket wrapped around your shoulders and your head resting on his lap.

“then, i’ll kiss you whenever you try to do that again. will that help?” ricky didn’t even need any time to think before coming up with a fast solution that could benefit both sides.

he knew just how to push all your buttons and make your heart palpitate, the corners of his lips quirking up to smile at your bashful state.

“um… yeah, i’d like that,” you gulped and responded shyly, not even daring to make any eye contact with him.

throughout the movie, you might’ve purposely bitten your lips a few times just to be able to land your lips on ricky’s and little did you know, ricky could see right through you easily and notice your weak attempts at hiding your little ‘mischief’ but who was he to call you out?

Some netizens believe it and some don’t, some hated her for touching his shoulder and some didn’t care. Y/n went live to debunk the rumors, saying she wasn’t interested in a relationship at the time. The thing was, the rumors were true. She secretly was pursing Kim Gyuvin, or at least she wanted to. Ever since she first saw him backstage at M Countdown when ‘Love Killa’ team got to perform she was starstruck. She saw him at the vending machine and wished him luck in ‘Boys Planet’. She actually never had watched an episode of the survival show at all, she said it would be too painful for her, but that was the night she started to watch and most importantly, vote for Kim Gyuvin.

Y/n got out of the car that drove her to the company, thanking the driver before closing the door. She was nervous and anxious, wondering who she needed to meet.

She waved to all the staff working that day as she walked into the building and made her way to the elevator, pushing the button that said ‘2’.

The elevator ride was quick, she wished it wasn’t so she can put herself together for this surprise meeting. She stood outside the door for a couple seconds before her manager's voice could be heard calling her.

“I want you to meet Kim Mihi, she’s a producer for a new variety show that Mnet is planning on releasing. She wanted to talk over how you’d feel about being a host for the show.” Yeona explained as the two took a seat across from the producer.

“Hi, Mihi-nim.” Y/n said with a smile. “Hi, Y/n.” The producer said, returning a kind smile. “The show is called ‘Byeol City’. It'll have two hosts, and the guests will be around two to four idols who will pose as people who want to make a wish at the city fountain. The setting is set in a fictional city named Byeol City, of course. The hosts will act as different city folks who own shops in each episode. Idol’s will work and do missions for the shop owners to earn star gems that’ll make any wish come true, those star gems have to be thrown into the fountain that is at the center of the city.”

it was still quite early in the morning as the clock ticks half-past seven, most desks empty with the exception of a few school bags messily littered on the floor.

you smile unknowingly upon being embraced with the warm gift.

“open it! open it! this is so sweet! this whole secret admirer thing is straight out of a kdrama,” your friend jumps up and down excitedly by your side as she waits for you to unveil the gift.

“okay, okay, calm down. why are you even more giddy about this than me?” you chuckle as you delicately take the letter and hold it close to your chest as you read it secretively.

“hey! let me see it too,” she tries to peek at the handwritten letter as you hold it closely to your heart, scanning through every messily written word on the thin piece of paper.

however, while your friend was too busy in her little world fantasising about all the possibilities of your love life, you knowingly grin to yourself and internally gushed over the boy who just so seems to be the culprit.

“han yujin, what has gotten into you?” you murmured to yourself and shook your head as the morning bell rings.

after an eternity of sitting through your morning classes, lunch started and so, you and your mini friend group gathered at the halls to get lunch together at the cafeteria.

it consisted of a few friends you’ve made last year in your old class, now all having been separated in the new school year.

said friend group also included han yujin, the very boy who you fell for last summer and has since been secretly dating throughout the summer.

upon making eye contact with him as you all walk up to each other, your other friend from another class enthusiastically skipping up to you to sling an arm around your shoulders, the both of you bashfully offer a small smile to each other and hide the pink hue decorating your cheeks, looking down and avoiding eye contact.

with the rest of you friends walking up ahead and chattering away, passionately rambling on about how boring classes were, yujin sneakily took the place by your side and walked right next to you.

mesmerised by the way his gaze lingered on you, you drifted away from the conversations of your friends.

you both sneaked glances at each other, looking into each others’ eyes for a millisecond before looking away. your hands did the same too, swinging by your sides and gently bumping into each other, the back of your hands touching for a millisecond and then pulling away only to do the same once again.

setting down your plates on your table, yujin speed-walked over to your side and raced your friend to sit on your left, they only side-eyed him and snickered as they sat on your right instead, letting him have his way with a snarky smile on his face.

as soon as everyone was seated and started digging in, you felt warmth enveloping your left hand that was placed in your lap, a larger hand interlocking their fingers with yours, the intertwined hands resting on your thigh.

you almost spit out your rice upon feeling yujin boldly taking your hand in his and immediately turn your head to look him in the eye.

your wide eyed gaze meets his smiling ones, innocently grinning at you and holding in his giggles.

calming yourself down, you turn back to your previously neglected plate and continue digging in.

however, your heart still beats at 100 km/h and the pumping in your chest distracts you from the conversation of your friends.

“why is your face so red? are you alright?”

the look on your face resembles that of a deer caught in headlights, eyes shot wide open as you face the concerned gazes of your friends.

“i’m fine! it’s just a little hot in here, you know. um, let me just go get a cold drink from the vending machine real quick, bye,”

you untangle your hand from yujin’s in a rush and your chair screeches as you push it back to stand up, and you speed walk out of the cafeteria.

“it’s 2°C?” your friend questioned as you left.

reaching the vending machines area, you let out a sigh and lean on the wall near the vending machine, hand resting on your heart to feel your pacing heartbeat.

“what is wrong with you,” you speak to yourself in the empty area as your head hangs low with the lights of the vending machine reflecting off of you.

hearing footsteps nearing the area, you immediately regained your composure and tensed up.

“hey. are you okay?” it was yujin.

“yujin? why are you here? go back before they get suspicious.” your words were cut off when yujin walked closer to you, the proximity taking your breath away.

“relax. don’t worry about them for now. it kills me that i can’t be close to you when i haven’t seen you for so long.”

“it has only been a few hours, yujin,” you chuckled as he pouted at you. his hands grabbing yours.

after a few seconds, the impact never came and it seemed as if you were floating on the spot. you hesitatingly open your squeezed shut eyes only to be face to face with the antagonist of your life story, kim gyuvin.

his face was dangerously close to yours and you could feel his heavy breathing fanning on your face. you weren’t sure if your eyes were messing with you or not but he looked at you with such genuine worry in his eyes, staring into your orbs and making intense eye contact with you.

gyuvin’s arms supported your body with one of his arms swung around your shoulders and the other wrapped around your waist, his body leaned forward to save you from the fall, his sparkling brown eyes staring into your wide open ones.

it was as if time stopped for a second and there was only you and gyuvin in the spacious hall. this all seemed like a scene straight out of a cliche romance drama where the male lead saves the main character from falling, or you could say where the knight in shining armour saves the damsel in distress.

the both of you snapped back to reality and you immediately free yourself of gyuvin’s arms, standing back up on your own and brushing down your uniform. you turned your head to peer down at your fellow classmates whose faces had shock written all over them.

upon this sight, you looked down embarrassedly and your ears turned red out of humiliation with a tint of flusteredness from the semi-romantic scenario just now, and your ‘hero’ seemed to have the same phenomenon appear all over his face.

your principal, who had the honour of presenting the both of you with your prestigious award, interrupted the stiff air in the auditorium by clearing his throat and handing the both of you your well-deserved certificates.

this was supposed to be the most glamorous moment of your 12 years of education but you couldn’t even raise the corners of your lips slightly nor show your bright smile when the flash of the camera blinds you and the cameraman snaps a photo of your victorious moment, mind feeling dazed and still processing a rundown of your mortifying accident.

“hey! i practically saved you and this is your way of thanking me?” gyuvin rubbed the spot you hit earlier with an annoyingly cute pout on his face as he whines. “then what else was i supposed to do, you dimwit? oh my god, that was so humiliating!” you cringed as you stomp away from him and hiding your face in your hands, angrily jumping up and down like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

“come on, you did okay out there. well other than you almost falling face first but that’s not the point. it’s fine,” gyuvin took slow steps closer towards you as he reassures you.

“you can thank me by treating me to some food after school today. what do you think about that?” upon hearing his demanding offer, you immediately turned back to face him with your eyebrows furrowed and mouth open, ready to tell him off again before he dashes away, “gotta go! class is starting!” and before you could even say anything, his frame vanishes before your eyes.

you were nervous to say the least and as if it could get any worse, the moment you stepped into the academy, a tall stranger crashed into you, knocking both of your coffees out of your hands, spilling all over the floor.

“shoot! i’m so sorry-“ your words were cut off the moment you met eyes with the stranger. his innocent looking eyes with sparks in them looking into yours, his sharp jaw dropped at the accident.

you felt some sort of spark with the attractive stranger, like your heart lit up the moment your eyes met his and you were sure he could feel it too with his cheeks tainted with red when he met your eyes.

“hi,” the beautiful man uttered out softly, like he didn’t know what else to say. “hi,” you stuttered out as if you were out of breath.

“here,” when you finished cleaning up the mess, the man handed you a napkin and your head tilted in confusion at his actions.

looking at your clueless reaction, the man kneeled down again and wiped off the few drops of coffee that splashed onto your sneakers gently and you can’t help but blush at the stranger’s sweet actions.

“there’s the reception,” the sweet stranger stood up and gestured in front of you, his hand directed at the small counter and leading you there with you following cluelessly behind him like a lost puppy.

“oh! you must be y/n, the new teaching assistant, right? it seems you’ve met zhanghao already. he’s another part time teaching assistant here and you’re going to work with him most of the time,”

the receptionist told you, handing you some papers for whatever authorisation you needed to do but you were still too distracted staring at the no longer unnamed man, zhanghao.

“um, excuse me?” you stopped staring to turn your head to the receptionist with her hands still handing the papers towards you.

blood rushed up to your cheeks in embarrassment at the previous encounter, looking down at your coffee-tinted sneakers but you still couldn’t miss the small chuckle zhanghao let out at your silly actions.

when the receptionist left to help out somebody else, zhanghao walked closer towards you, “hey. um, so can i get your number?” he asked while looking down at his shoes, rubbing his neck with his left hand and his right hand in his pocket, looking like a shy puppy.

your number? your eyes widened and you automatically took a step back in shock, making the man immediately panic at your reaction, shaking his hands in font of you and explaining himself frantically, “no! like for work purposes since we’re going to be working together, haha,”

he laughed awkwardly, looking down once again with a small pout on his face and your heart fluttered at his cute nature. you laughed at his panicked response, handing him your phone and him looking back up at you with a shy glance, his hands slowly approaching your phone and bashfully typing in his number, you offering him a small smile.

“let me treat you to lunch sometime, as an apology for your coffee,” you said to him before walking away, the man looking dazed at your invitation, rapidly nodding his head as a ‘yes’ and you swear butterflies exploded in your stomach.

when you were out of his sight, you let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. feeling your heart beat at a fast pace. the man left there standing in front of the reception felt the same sensation with his heart pounding in his chest, starstruck with the encounter.
