#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Moon Knight vol. 9#Moon Knight 2021#Moon Knight comics#Moon Knight#Marc Spector#when I tell you that I thought that I had DIED and passed away when I read this for the first time#my typical joke is “bury me with a copy of the Lemire/Smallwood run” but…this too#because these pages alone have /everything/ I ever wanted/loved about Moon Knight comics#first off the reference to Exodus 20:3-4 SENT me#and “my father’s G-d took us out of Egypt. My new god had kept us there” slew me#because that right there is the kind of irony inherent to Marc’s character that has kept my attention for years#(and motivated to blow through all of his comics in like 2 months hahaha)#and then there’s the last page…the culmination of all of Marc’s regrets#hey comics do you think it’s cool making me cry#because this really takes me back to the early runs when (as I’ve mentioned before)#“Steven Grant” did all that he could to bury “Marc Spector” deep both mentally and physically#what with all the regrets and mistakes making it impossible to return to society otherwise#but nonetheless! much like how Marc won’t stay dead the past doesn’t stay buried either#rather it’s what we do with it that matters most#whether we’ll take all that regret and hurt and use it to fuel us to do better in the future what ever that may look like#but yeah…this issue man
