#“why are there people dancing with her?” (they're her backup singers) “so they sing if she can't be there [like santa]?”

I need more about Ucevi-PunkAU
Tumblr media
(Gorgeous art of punk rock au!Ucevi by @sleepswithvillains!)
Hehehehe, thanks!
I got the idea about a year ago for Ucevi as the lead in a very popular punk rock band, and I created a file of notes on characterization and plot mostly.
Lead singer (soprano) and drummer. Wild clothes, reputation for partying, great voice but also has the whole drummer thing going where she gets in the zone and forgets the world exists. She's got the voice and personality and presence to be the front for the band.
And her two school friends:
Joran is the percussionist/drummer. More versatile and a better drummer, baritone, old friend of Ucevi's.
Jaesa is on keyboards, contralto, and talented at composing the music for Vette's lyrics and arranging it. The quiet level-headed member of the group, the poor student on scholarship while in music training.
The three of them met Vette in a bar where she was performing solo. She's the lead guitarist and backup vocalist (alto). She writes the lyrics and helps Jaesa arrange it. She's the driving force behind the group's working class rebelliousness and aesthetics.
Pierce answered an ad for a bass guitarist. He's an ass who often gets on their nerves, but he's got the sound and attitude they needed. Wears a tank top, tight leather pants, has a lot of tattoos and piercings.
RSD-13 is their lighting tech (and just as salty as most of them, lol.)
Nali (who hasn't been introduced yet in Dance) is the sound engineer.
Broonmark is the band's security.
The story idea revolves around Quinn. He was a fairly talented violinist, but his family coerced him into giving up music for a business degree. He hoped working in the music industry would give him some contact with "good" music.
He is the rather prim assistant to Baras, a big studio executive who has been tasked with coercing Ucevi's band into signing a contract with his studio that will really screw the band over. And he sends Quinn to apply for a position as their business manager, then financially undermine the band so they have no choice but sign with Baras.
Quinn has no qualms at first because he's a bit of a music snob who thinks punk is trashy. And his first interview with Ucevi and Vette (who he immediately detests) doesn't change him mind. But he hides his reaction and gets the job.
He mostly avoids hearing them practice by staying in his office most of the time. So he's bowled over the first time he does attend a concert and hears Ucevi sing for the first time and realizes that all of them are actually extraordinary musicians (even Pierce.)
He struggles against admitting to himself that he likes their music (and Ucevi, naturally because he never admits THAT quickly.) Then one morning, he left the door to his office open when he came in really early, and the band doesn't know he's there when they start warming up. He hears someone laughing at a joke, and then Jaesa starts playing something very definitely not punk rock, and then Ucevi and Joran start singing a duet from an opera that he recognizes.
He's stunned not just because they know the song, but they're good. And he knows enough to recognize that they have had training in it. And he slowly starts learning about why the five of them ended up here instead.
Oh, and Draahg? Another of Baras's people, who tries to sabotage one of the performances (in a deadly way) when Quinn (who has lost his enthusiasm) isn't getting results fast enough for Baras.
I had a lot of fun with the idea, but who knows when I'd have time to write it :D
