chapter nine. taking it slow

as soon as sunghoon opened his door, he smiled. a comforting smile that made your insides melt.

“come in.” he nodded his head towards the inside of his room, stepping aside to let you walk in. as soon as he closed the door, you let out a breath. you felt extremely awkward as if you hadn’t been making out with the man in his room only hours prior.

“i need to say something” you spoke first, avoiding the man’s eyes. he had already been dressed for the tiffany event and looked amazing as always. you felt flustered, you stomach doing backflips as the words of what you wanted to say died on your tongue.

“i’m listening.” sunghoon spoke up in a teasing tone, standing in front of you with his hands on his hips. you sighed, letting a nervous giggle slip from your lips.

“um…i don’t regret coming here last night. i think kissing you really made me realize that i don’t wanna be apart from you. i tried to hate you and push you away, despite you putting in the effort to get to know me. i apologize for that, it wasn’t fair to you.” you explained, your heart beating a bit faster at your apology. sunghoon smiled softly before hesitantly stepping closer to you.

“it’s okay, i never held it against you. it was my fault your hatred began anyways and i’m sorry for that.” sunghoon replied, taking your hands in his. you looked up at his pretty eyes, feeling comfortable in his presence. it was something you noticed when sunghoon had taken you out to lunch for your birthday. simply being in his presence made you feel safe and that was one of the many reasons why you couldn’t keep yourself from him anymore.

“sunghoon…i…i really want to be with you. i like being around you. but im not exactly sure if im ready for a serious relationship yet.” you admitted, biting the inside of your cheek as you waited for his response. fortunately, sunghoon didn’t seem disappointed.

“that’s okay. but um, what do you mean by that? like friends with benefits?” sunghoon joked, causing you to giggle. he always managed to make the tension drain from your body instantly…damn him.

“no, i would just like to go on a few dates first if that’s ok.” you shrugged. sunghoon smiled, a wide toothy grin that showed off his fangs that you loved so much. he was on cloud nine, simply hearing that you were willing to give him a chance was enough to make the man want to skip with glee.

“prepared to be wowed— y/n y/l/n is going to experience the best dates of her life.” sunghoon said dramatically, causing you to playfully roll your eyes.

jake has always been the best boyfriend - like a golden retriever to your beck and call. his smile radiates through the entire room and his laugh could heal the souls of millions. he has loved you endlessly and never once have you ever doubted it.

so how did you end up yelling at him over not washing the dishes? "jake i asked you to do one thing for me ! and you couldn't even do that," you yell out. whatever those girls said about mercury being in retrograde, were right. it felt like the earth was rotating backwards with finals week around the corner. you have summed up about an average of 3 hours of sleep a day, the rest of the hours hunched over in the library.

it was getting more frustrating with the days going on and jake has been busy with his own school work. you knew jake was busy, either studying for his own finals or gaming with his friends. jake was always a smart guy, being in honors classes and passing them with ease. you. on the other hand, struggle to grasp concepts until they are fully immersed after countless hours of practice.

you had given jake a heads up to ask him to please wash the dishes before coming home. you wanted to cook dinner but you didn't have any clean dishes to use. jake, on the hand, had just got home and decided to take a small nap before doing some cleaning around the house. he sets an alarm and it doesn't ring.

"baby i'm sorry, it was a mistake, i didn't mean to forget," he says as he tries to pull you in for a hug. you shake off his advances and you roll your eyes at him, "it wasn't that hard of a task to do but you still couldn't do it? i've been endlessly studying in the library for finals week because i'm not a genius like you and i don't understand the material ! i keep trying all these practice problems and i keep getting everything wrong and i just wanted one thing to be done. i'm starving all day and i wanted to come home and cook us dinner but none of the dishes are done and.."

your voice breaks with ease and jake's demeanor immediately softens. his tone is so soft that you would miss it, "baby..."

the emotions that you've been holding for however long comes breaking down as tears streamed down your face. jake feels like his heart is chipping away, "oh baby, come here." you take a step forward before jake fully wraps his arms around you, his cologne wafting into your senses. his arms rub soothing circles on your hip as he plants soft kisses into your hair. your tears start to slow down as you slowly catch your breathe. jake slowly pulls you to sit on his lap while the sound of your breathing is only heard. jake whispers to you, "what happened baby? tell me."

you only let out a small exhale, "i've just been so stressed with finals and i just can't grasp the content and i feel so stupid. i just don't know how to get these formulas down and i didn't want to bother you because i know you were busy with your own finals. i just didn't want you to become annoyed at me or think i'm stupid."

jake reaches up his hand to cup your cheek and softly caress it with his thumb, "my sweet angel, i can't believe you've been holding all of this in. it's okay to not understand content after studying it, sometimes you just need a little more time for things to click. if it doesn't, you know i'm here to help you always."

he continues on, "you are not stupid because you don't understand something, okay? you are very smart and work very hard and you can never bother me. baby, i'm here to love you."

your eyes soften at his words and the only thing you can say in this moment is a 'thank you.' jake points to his watering eyes, "look baby! you even got me crying." you only softly laugh and give him a kiss which he gladly returns.

"let's order some takeout and we can work on some of your material tomorrow morning? how does that sound?" jake says and you nod. for the first time in weeks, you finally smile.

sitting in jake's lap would happens quite often. doing any activity, in front of the members, in his dorm, outside, literally anywhere and anytime. facing him or not he loves feeling ur weight on his legs.

tho jake would be shy at first, he didn't know how to ask you to sit on his lap without making things weird or making you think of him in a way that he isn't. so when u got comfortable by simply putting ur legs on his legs on a movie night, he felt like his dream came true. he would obviously put his hands on ur legs n draw patterns lovingly. he would love it even more if u wear skirts cause first that means ure really comfortable w him, two, your skin is so so soft to him n he wants to feel your warmth.

what jake wants jake gets but sick jake ? it will be the end for you. either that he pretends to be unable to do anything or is hyper, he would give you the time of your life.

when he gets his mouth ulcer, he knows the medecine will hurt him more so he wouldn't stop moving making it hard for the members of the staff to heal him. they even had to tie him up. but once you're in his life ? ? he would do it on purpose just to get you to heal him. he would whine out loud not caring of the situation or the place he is. he would jump around not wanting to be tied up again. he just doesn't want anyone else to heal him. he is all yours, why would him ? so when sunghoon had the idea to call you over, he was so happy. the happiest, he would grin so hard, making everyone in the room realized of his true intentions. but even if he didn't, he was suddenly patently waiting for you, sitting on the dance practice couch, a contrast from few seconds ago.

as a father

jake would be such a good father, just like with his partner, he would be the most supportive and caring father. he would spend lots of time with his kid, just the wo of them, and would defo be the 'nice' parent, getting them everything they want, not bearing to go against their cuteness.

jake might seem cocky n super flirty but when it comes to blossoming love he is more the shy type. giggles hidden behind his hands n flirty joke said w a hint of embarrassment, this is how newly love w jake feels like. but as much as shy he is he will never back down in shooting his shot w the pretty girl right in front of him, do you wanna go to see a movie w me someday ? he would shyly say, looking away as his hand would be behind his head, a soothing manner to cope w his anxiety. but as he senses your flustered state, his would slowly fade away, specially when you agree to his offer. 8pm tonight ? the one in the shopping mall ? he would add a bit too fast, his excitement barely hidden.

when you told jake you wanted to do his eyebrows he couldn't help but ask you do to his whole night routine. he is the a puppy n having your entire attention on him is what makes him the happiest. so he would be the one leading you to his lap, his skin care products on the side. he would pliant as well, his hands on your waist, his head looking high at yours : he is way too happy to be in this situation to even flirt with you or get excited. too fuzzy to not beam at you, your legs caging his lap. he wouldn't even flinch when you plug his eyebrows hair, his eyes remaining close and his thumb the only thing on his body moving.

to jake, you're comfort is his top priority, whenever and wherever you're with him. his hands on your waist is a way to keep you close to him and away from the danger but sometimes that wouldn't be enough to keep you safe.

the mall being too crowded, overwhelming you with to munch sounds : people's laugh, babies cries, children running all around,,, and being hyper alert always always makes you go non verbal.

the first time it happened, he didn't know what to do, concern also overwhelming him. baby, why are you not answering ? are you okay ? he would ask you, stopping in his track. you'd shake your head, meaning no. he'd take you outside, calling for a car so you guys can come back to your home. he tries to be as mindful as possible tho he doesn't understand why you are in this state rn, but he understood that you need your privacy, hence why you are not on way to his dorm.
