ratio'd, sonic is twice the person he'll ever be, but eggman will never admit that. i suppose in a way he also expects so much of sonic, has so much hope for him when you really think he'd wouldn't. he expects sonic to uphold the same heroic standards to defeat his as evil standards. you have those passing scenes in sonic x where eggman legit says he's disappointed in sonic for losing himself, letting himself get so angry. it's the double standards, but god, sonic is so much better a person than he ever will be, and he's grown complacent with that.

Eggman is more than a little theatric; he will jump at any chance to be extra and go a million miles for big and dramatic. Because of this, he doesn’t have a tendency to be to-the-point with his schemes because ultimately, it’s all a game to him as well as a display of showmanship. That’s not to say he won’t have moments he WON’T be to the point (gestures to SA2′s ‘you’ve become a BIG-TIME villain, Doctor!’) -- after all, sometimes that dose of ruthlessness can go hand in hand.

There’s a million ways to destroy your enemies, but if it’s anti-climactic, he’s not interested.
