doi 🌻: - heart of the group. sensitive to others' emotions and empathic to the core. he may not have the right words to express what he's thinking, but know whatever he's feeling, he's feeling very deeply. - certified pasta fiend. the others have learned to stop asking him what he wants for dinner because chances are the answer will be spaghetti. every. time. (though if there were already plans to make it, redd will end up asking him anyway so they can pretend like he got to decide what the household ate for the night. he ends up happy, everyone smiles and nods. it's a win-win.) - always seems to be lost in his own little world; drawing, humming, daydreaming, etc. don't mistake this for him not listening though, because if you do, you might end up hearing him parakeet something you didn't exactly want him to hear... - his name isn't "doi." in fact, no one actually knows what it's supposed to be. when sketch first opened his file and looked under the name section, they couldn't make out what was a letter from a number, or if roy's handwriting was just that bad. thus they resorted to using the only three consecutive letters they could make out: "D-O-I." but he doesn't mind. he likes it !

duck 🦆: - a grumpy, old soul who still carries around the belief that he should be the one in charge because he's the oldest of the three, so obviously that means he's also the wisest. duh, shouldn't you know that by know, stupid ? aren't you stupid... - has taken on the onus of decorating the house with various old knickknacks and hunting paraphernalia. if there's any way to get on his good side, ask him about history. just be sure to grab a chair while you're at it, you'll be stuck listening for an hour (or two). - yes, the feathers get everywhere. no, he's not embarrassed about it. deal with it. - owns an extensive tie collection. all of them coming in different colors, patterns, and textures. he's not exactly fond of them being touched (and despite the massive number of them, he very much knows when one has gone missing), but on the rare occasions he's feeling generous, he'll allow redd to take one to work so long as he comes back to report how many compliments he got on it.

redd 🧣: - considerably less emotive and more reserved than the other two, but definitely not emotionless. redd has a lot of complex feelings about the situation he's in, yet doesn't know when or how to get them out... or who or what might be watching him when he does. - sort of a sickly fellow. anemia, anxiety, and insomnia keeping him on a constant mental and physical edge, mixed with a pesky smoking habit doesn't really make him the healthiest guy around. but he swears he's going to quit one of these days. he will ! yeah... eventually. - does not like owls. thinks they're creepy. the way they swivel their heads around to make sure you're in full view of their large, bulbous eyes and sound like they're repeating "who ? who ? who ?" over and over again. who what ? he doesn't know. stop asking him questions. it's freaking him out. - while the eyes on his hat do move, if you mention something about it, he'll act like he doesn't know what you're talking about.

this is so, so, so very old but the joy it gives me whenever i read it has never grown stale. 💖 there seems to be a pattern now with people comparing my work to candy/desserts.

anyways, i have answered something like this before so my answer is still the same. i am very open to different ships, DT included, since there are so many ways to interpret all the characters that it gives each ship a new dynamic to explore.

as for my personal opinion on it, i think it's nice. it used to be my favorite ship before i publicly joined the fandom. not really my favorite anymore, but i still hold a soft spot for it somewhere in me.

Have you tried gouache paints before? They're like watercolors, but more opaque.

yes, i have ! i've only experimented with them about two or three times, so watercolors still prevail in my field of favourites. i did, however, find that overlaying watercolors with gouache tend to give the final colors a nicely saturated "pop." i've been lacking pretty severly in the traditional department so maybe this is a sign for me to bring the palette and the brushes back out ?

Any tips on drawing hands?

oh, anon. bless you, but you are asking the furry artist how to draw human hands. you must be very desperate.

anyways, here's a list of things my brain does:

1.) think in relations. this comes a bit easier for people who've been drawing for a while, but do try to "visualize" the position of the hand before you draw it. the relationship between the wrist, palm, and thumb are generally the most important "basic" parts. if it helps, put yourself in the POV of the character you're drawing and use your own hand to remember which way the palm's facing; this determines whether the thumb is facing in (towards) or out (away from body). i find this really helps in avoiding the dreaded art sin that is The Backwards Hand (though if you find it too hard to code your own 3d modeler into your brain, sketchfab and posemaniacs can do it for you.)

2.) shapes. shapes. shapes. anything you have ever looked at can be broken into basic shapes. hands are the same way. i know it may feel tedious to do this but it's an extremely good skill to establish as an artist because it will help you in the long run. learning shapes is like the unskippable tutorial in the game of art life.

i will now bring you to a quick visual commercial break:

there are thousands of resources online (google, pinterest, YT) that can help you figure out what shapes to use and how to use them until you find your own way that's comfortable for you. above are just a few examples of my personal way of doing things. speaking of resources...

3.) use references. don't fall into the line of thinking that using references is "cheating." because no ! 🗞💥 bad. they're there to help you. if at any time you ever find yourself drawing something, thinking "hm, well how can i do that ?" use a reference. grab a mirror, look at a photo, whatever it is - there is likely something around you or online that you can use to help. there's a lovely man, moa810 (< click that), that makes beautiful hand references, just for you. trace 'em, practice with 'em, anything, literally anything you want and he doesn't even require credit.

4.) practice. self explanatory, but it matters. and this goes for anything, ever. keep yourself sharp by practicing every so often. learn now, get better later. :)

I have some one question for you

Would you like to draw the DHMIS characters from the pilot episode in your style and give them your own headcanons? (For example: Big Ian, Mr Jason and so on)🤔

salut ! thank you, that's very kind. 💜

to answer: many of the secondary characters from the pilot (rest in enigmatic legal limbo) are pretty minor and don't have much material to work off of based on how little of the pilot is publicly available. for some of them, i already made a few established headcanons and designs (like steve and grenald) but haven't really worked on anything regarding the characters we see for a second or two.

it's not that i'm "not interested" in those other guys, it's more of a 'they have such a small role that anything i make with them would be playing off my own creative liberty' type situation.

i still have a lot to iron out with the pilot section of the AU (or what i like to call "Arc 2") but i'm sure whenever i get around to it, i'd be more than happy to share those ideas with you all.

colin: colin still keeps the barcode from his manufacturer etched in his arm. he's had every opportunity to have it removed/remove it himself, but he's never been able to muster up the courage to do so. even though his younger sister, layla, can't fully comprehend why he would choose to keep a physical reminder of their past tethered to him, she understands how hard it would be for him to let it all go. colin holds a lot of anger and resentment for what was taken from him and he just hasn't reached the point of forgiveness yet.

willow (tissue box): most people assume that willow's demeanour is always depressed and melancholic due to the nature of her job, but outside of work she's quite the opposite ! she's an extremely empathic lady with the patience of a saint. the cessation of life is a fact she's no stranger to, and while you may think she would have grown to have some apathy for it considering how long she's been dealing with all things death, the pipes to her waterworks have yet to grow rusty. she's found that the cultivation of life through gardening to be a good way to cope and balance out her daily life. that, and it's given her an excuse to send some of the most high-grade flower bouquets to those close to her.

mortimer (coffin): business life leaves little room for most of mort's usual recreational activities, but when time allows it he'll dust off one of his unfinished taxidermy projects. most of them being birds, bugs, or other small rodents. he does have experience with larger animals, namely a few deers and some beloved family pets, though they're not his favourite to work on. as for some type of quirk, he's got the tendency to pop a few joints everytime he gets up or creak whenever he walks. it's usually followed up by profuse apologies and a small ramble about the consequences of inadequate exercise.

electracey: could tracey's personality count as her quirk ? she's already described as such by most. tracey has a handful of hobbies scattered just about everywhere. literally, they're littering the floors. collections of vintage magazines, vhs cartridges, and walkman cassettes. it's a little jarring that she still has the space to squeeze in her own handmade gadgets.

sketchbook: sketch is more of a quiet lover, which is a surprise to some because of how exuberant they are in public. they much rather prefer to dote on a partner romantically in a private setting while doing a shared activity together (bonus if they can manage to get a glass of wine or two involved).

(unemployed) brendon: any pursuit for love is thrown out in favour of a search for work (and a possible publisher), so any chance of romance would have to converge paths with brendon's occupation. someone truly taking the time and effort to analyze his writing would most likely spark a sensation he's never considered before. it wouldn't be long before you find him taking to a pen and a paper to organize what exactly it is he's feeling.

stephen (steak, yes, i changed his name back.): steph is not a man who is quick to anger. he's more likely to sit on his emotions and let them simmer before acting on them. he thinks longterm, therefore if he comes to the conclusion that a violent act is a necessary evil for a greater benefit in the end, he won't hesitate much to commit what needs to be done. (his tools of the trade would be a good set of butcher knives. he has plenty of experience with things of those nature anyway.)

shrig prefers to sleep on his stomach. his wings, while sturdier than what a normal butterfly's would be, are still rather fragile, and accidentally crushing them in his sleep would mean waking up to a sore back.

of course, this is under the impression he even falls asleep long enough to not be conscious of his movements. rest is something that's become more and more foreign to him.
