MORE HEADCANONS

Mihawk has, on multiple occassions, attempted to teach both Samil and Spike how to play the mandoline guitar. It’s something that he brought from his childhood. He enjoys bonding with the girls via music - though he doesn’t know how much they’ve actually taken from the lessons.

Sometimes he’ll allow them to dress him however they want, in whatever style they want, so long as it never leaves the secrecy of the island. That includes a ‘no photos’ rule.

When Samil is in a particularly sad mood, Mihawk will sit next to her for however long she needs. If she happens to curl into his side or need comforting, who is he to deny her? He doesn’t mind if she falls asleep against him; in fact, he’ll probably stay as still as possible until she wakes on her own.

Mihawk likes to try and teach Spike how to cook meals from his homeland. It doesn’t always turn out the best, actually more often than not things end up a mess, but it’s still nice. Spike usually ends up covered in the food she’s supposed to be cooking ( no fault of his, obviously. It’s some of the few times Mihawk can laugh open and free.

When she’s raging, he likes to point the giantess out toward the untilled lands for her to get her anger out. It’s a useful way to relax for her and a way to get the land ready for new crops. What’s to complain about? She gets to destroy some things and he gets to plant.

When she sleeps in her giant form, he’ll use her as a pillow. She’s comfortable and warm, and she’s safe so long as he’s around. It also helps for when she’s having a particularly bad night. He likes for her to know she’s not alone without him having to say the words.

Sometimes he’ll allow her to ride in his coffin boat with him. On nice days, when the sun is shining and the waters are calm, they’ll just float out there and he’ll listen to her talk or they’ll listen to the world around them. During these times, they also go on supply runs. He allows Spike to grab whatever she wants as long as the boat can handle its weight. And so log as it isn’t a living animal.

When they fight together, it’s easy for Mihawk to play off her – she’s easy to read, and when she’s in her giant form she can throw him pretty damn far. ( missile mihawk yeet )

She tires herself out from time to time and will fall asleep somewhere in the castle. If she’s in her smaller form, he’ll carry her to some place comfortable. If she’s in her giant form, he’ll go and grab the blankets and pillows from her rooms and cover her with them. Wouldn’t want her to get sick.

Mihawk has to talk her out of bringing stray animals in as pets far more often than he really should. Usually the animals are as deadly as they are. 

He’s 100% caught her trying to teach a humandrill how to throw a tree like a spear. It was pretty successful for the most part.

There is so much pride hidden inside of him reserved just for her. He’s glad they came into each other’s lives.

Mihawk likes to ride on her shoulder when she’s in giant form. It makes him feel tall.

He is incredibly protective. He doesn’t have very many people that he truly cares about, so those that have made a home in his heart are always fiercely guarded. Though he knows Spike doesn’t actually need the protection.

Trying to teach her to be a swordsman has been deemed a failure. It doesn’t stop him from trying.

When she needs time alone, time to think, to work through her feelings, he gives it to her. Though he usually will drape his cloak over her shoulders or set his hat upon her head so she knows that she isn’t alone. He might not be good with emotions, but he’s here if she needs him.

She’s definitely drawn on his face while he’s ‘slept’. 

Though it might not look like he’s paying attention when she’s gone off on one of her rants or tales, he definitely is. He’s taking in every single word she’s saying, and if he feels that he needs to intervene and kill someone - he will.

They sit together in the den, a comfortable silence taking up the expanse of the room, just reading and drinking whatever’s on hands. Fireplace lit and the soft draw of a bow across a violin keeping them calm and relaxed. When they finish reading, they like to talk about the subject of their books and compare the messages taken from them.

Mihawk does his best to make her comfortable in his castle, surprisingly enough. She’s been through a lot in her life, he knows, and he wants her to have a safe place to turn to when the world gets too much.

He hates her layered style. It makes him cringe at the raggedness of her clothes. It’s gotten to the point that he’s replaced nearly her entire closet a couple of times with fashion forward, stylistic clothing, all neutral in color of course. Somehow, though, she still ends up looking like a hobo despite the expensive clothes.

Once a friendship is sparked between them, Katakuri can be found on Kuraigana helping with the farm lands. it’s an easy way to relax without the loudness of his family. Mihawk also spends some time showing him how to make a sweet cherry wine.

Though Mihawk isn’t a sweets person, he does take to keeping some in the castle for when the far too large man visits. Luffy bothers Mihawk in the same sort of way that Shanks does. He’s pushy. He doesn’t take no for an answer. Though Mihawk would deny it, this sort of pushiness is the best way to get through to him. There is a reluctant sort of fondness for the teenager that makes him ill to think about - he totally breaks out into hives.

Touchy. Luffy is touchy even around the dark swordsman. When around, the teen can be found hanging off of Mihawk’s back and coaxing the stoic man into explorations.

There is this vague sort of knowledge that one day Zoro will kill Mihawk. Luffy’s asked once how he feels about that, knowing that he is to die at the hands of the young captain’s first mate. It is such an out of character moment that it stuns the elder into gaping, he never gets a response out because Luffy ends up distracted a moment later.

Upon his first visit to Kuraigana, Luffy attempted to eat a humandrill. A battle breaks out instead and they destroy a shit tone of crops in the process. Mihawk regrets not banning the boy from his island.

After spars together, they like to sit outside under the cloudy sky and drink as Mihawk goes over Zoro’s improvements and his faults in sword fighting. Sometimes he’ll even go so far as to act out what Zoro is doing wrong and then show him the correct way so that the other can have a visual to learn from.

CUDDLER ALERT!

Mihawk cuddles in his sleep, though he’d deny it in any sort of public capacity. He’s like this heat-seeking starfish / octopus. He likes his comforts and warmth is one of those comforts, okay. Don’t bring up the snugglefest in the morning or you might end up with one less limb than you started with.

It doesn’t help that his bed is piled high with pillows and the softest blankets like ever to exist. It doesn’t give anyone much room to move around in, so once your there, you’re trapped until he decides it’s time to get up.

𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒:  bonfires,  competitiveness,  hand veins,  loud laughs,  messy hair,  sneaking out at 2am,  abandoned beaches,  stray dogs,  candle lights,  body language,  creaking floorboards,  ouija boards,  having no regrets,  karaoke nights out.

𝐓𝐀𝐔𝐑𝐔𝐒:  house plants,  oversized sweaters,  soft hands,  fuzzy socks,  visiting big cities,  snoozing your alarm clock,  the color yellow,  vanilla-scented candles,  aloe vera,  fruit smoothies,  baking cookies,  the mom friend,  loves the ukulele.

𝐆𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈:  femme fatale movies,  in love with female villains,  sharp eyeliner,  quick-witted,  does things out of spite,  do no harm but take no shit, in love with dogs,  probably cries during sad movies but won’t admit it,  easily excited, ripped jeans.

𝐋𝐈𝐁𝐑𝐀:  soft blankets, cuddling the ones you love,  always standing up for your friends,  hopeless spurned romantic,  can be very distant,  can be a little dramatic,  pretty hair,  dresses nicely,  tries to be popular on social media,  optimistic,  humorous.

𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐏𝐈𝐎:  cottages in the woods,  in love with greek mythology,  vintage t-shirts,  really emotional but doesn’t want anyone to know,  determined,  moonlight,  pretty handwriting, into the retro aesthetic,  rainy days,  doesn’t judge people,  cats.

𝐒𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐔𝐒:  always ready for an adventure,  street smart,  wants to travel the world someday,  doesn’t easily trust people,  alcohol,  paintbrushes,  can’t sit still,  untied shoelaces,  tangled up earphones,  blasting music at midnight,  eye-gazing.

What Monster from Folklore Protects you?

Cadejo

There is no such thing as Black and White, Good and Evil, Yin and Yang. The world only knows the various greys in-between.

Nearly every culture out there has some manifestation of the righteous and the treacherous. The cadejo is no different. Hailing from Central American folklore, the tales of the cadejo varies from country to country but they almost always come in two separate variations. The pure, helpful white dog, and the malevolent, evil black dog.  

The WHITE DOG helps to guide lost travelers out of the woods and is the only force which can kill or harm it's evil brethren.  The BLACK DOG that which cannot be killed, prowls the streets at night, searching for its next victim. Once it chooses its prey, it stalks. Almost nothing can draw its attention from the hunt. Its raspy snarls and soft growls can be heard, usually a sign of the victim's impending doom. Your only chance of escaping its open maw is the intervention of the white cadejo. You have never been focused on the technicalities of life. Nor have you agreed with many people's boxed-minded views on the concept of good and evil. Nothing in this world is inherently good or evil. You choose to live your life in the grey. This does not make you a bad person. YOUR LIFE IS HOW YOU CHOOSE TO LIVE IT AND THE CHOICES MADE ALONG THE WAY. You simply won't allow for moral conflicts to interfere with a logical train of thought. It is this perspective on life which has attracted the cadejo to you. Just be wary of your guardian, it is nearly impossible to tell which one it is until you see it and by then...                                it's already too late.
