WWX doesn’t get jealous most of the time, majority of the time is because he’s not confident in himself and does not believe that he’s ‘qualified’ to be jealous, but once he does, he can be really Yiling Patriarch-ish and determined to claim what’s his. He wouldn’t ‘attack’ the other person who’s flirting with LWJ, but he would definitely  ‘attack’ LWJ for making him jealous, especially when he knows LWJ does it on purpose. ( WangXian shares one brain cell and we know it ).

WWX never combs his hair, but his hair is slightly wavy and doesn’t tangle itself, so he’s actually quite lucky. WWX also had thick hair. It sprawls all over the bed when he sleeps.

WWX really likes guppies and beta fishes!! he thinks they’re colour and cute. He also liked collecting seashells by the beach.

WWX doesn’t use any perfume or scented essence, so one can usually tell where he’s been, depending on what he smells like — food, smoke, beach, gardens, etc.

WWX doesn’t only like bunnies. What attracted him are actually anything that’s really round and fluffy, and attention-seeking ( like himself ) so modern!wwx’s list of favourite animals also includes: hamsters, chinchillas, cats, sugar gliders, guinea pigs, turtles.

Additionally, he doesn’t really like animals with claws or beaks: monkeys, bears, geese, ducks, chickens.

There’s nothing WWX hates more than being blackmailed. WWX is proud, upright, and righteous, so being blackmailed, especially to do shady jobs, is easily one of the things that really provokes him if it’s against his will. He wouldn’t yield to being blackmailed with past misdeeds, his dirty work, or any secrets he might be keeping. He’ll face the consequences and go down with his blackmailer if it happens, rather than let himself be blackmailed. But if it’s people, like being blackmailed with the lives of people he loves, it leaves him no choice but to give in, but you bet he will repay the price tenfold once he gets the chance.

I don’t make a lot of posts about WWX’s sexual experience but because of that ask my brain is like “LOL what if-” randomly like that, lmao. So while WWX is usually portrayed to be really shameless, casual, and simply when it comes to s.e.x., it’s not really the case. While it’s true he likes to beg, wail, cry, and generally being overly dramatic and loud, it’s usually a mutual agreement between himself and Lan Wangji. Or like, generally, it’s things that they both liked, but it doesn’t mean that WWX would be just as casual and simply with anyone else. In fact, WWX is rather reserved with s.e.x. because he decided that it’s incredibly private. Rightfully, everything that happened in the bedroom w/ Lan Wangji is incredibly private to him. So while he’s totally feral behind closed doors, that is strictly between him and his lover. If a third party interferes or involved themselves into his s.e.x. life, asking about bite marks or bruises, WWX would undoubtedly feel awkward and embarrassed having to explain that it’s an inside joke between him and Lan Wangji and that they both liked it and nothing really bad or problematic is happening. 

Evidence: I think WWX is reserved when it comes to s.e.x. is because while he seems to have no problem swearing and cursing, but he never really uses s.e.x. as a metaphore ( very common chinese cusses involves: ‘Fuc.k you!’ or ‘Fuc.k your mother!’, though they’re very commonly used, are cusses WWX never uses. Most of the time he just says ‘Fuc.k!’ or ‘Fuc.k him! [a third person reference that doesn’t really point to anybody], and most of the more vulgar ones he uses with Jiang Cheng or in his monologue, but never anyone else ). WWX is careful not to use phrases that might insult someone’s family or loved one that isn’t present, even if it’s just words.

‘But what about the por.n scene back then?’ Well, back then WWX really was shameless and he was a teenager??? But he matures as an adult, and it’s different. I’ve always thought it’s like how it’s fine for kids to be butt naked in public where people won’t judge but it’s different when you’re a late teen or an adult LOL. 

It’s one thing for WWX to do whatever he pleased with Lan Wangji, but it’s an entirely different thing to have to repeat that to someone else who’s not involved in the relationship, especially someone that makes him feel awkward having to admit that he liked all that, that he likes light bondage and marking & LWJ probably knows it too, but at the same time it’s not similar to enjoy being abused and he’s not into whatever weird ideas different people might be getting from listening to him trying to explain. Generally, it’s different with anyone else unless that person is his lover.

Me, thinking about CQL ending ( again ), my take on WWX post CQL ending:

I think WWX becomes a rogue cultivator post going separate ways with LWJ. He can never return to the cultivational world or return to any sects. Avoiding other things and on a deeper level, WWX cannot return nor go into any cultivatinal sects before of the scars he left in his past life as the Yiling Patriarch. Yes, things were resolved and everyone knew he was blamed, but its not that simple: it’s impossible to resolve 20 years of grudges just like that. His impression on the cultivational world remains too deeply negative that he simply cannot expect to return and be treated as someone ordinary. His only option is to go rogue and literally replacing Lan Wangji’s reputation of ‘being where the choas is’. 

So, after Lan Wangji replaces Jin Guangyao as Chief Cultivator, WWX, in turn, replaces Lan Wangji as the cultivator of being ‘wherever the choas is’.

And it might be misunderstood that WWX ‘loves Lan Wangji’ or w/e that he continues to do what he did, but I’d like to clarify that it’s not my intention to have this headcanon for WWX. Helping out with public issues is not something WWX suddenly realized he wanted to do or what he is doing it for Lan Wangji, but it has always been what WWX dreamed of doing, even before he met LWJ, he had always been bothered by the whole cultivational system that seemed wrong. 

So his headcanon literally means: while Lan Wangji is off to do big business on the top of the throne, WWX is taking care of issues happening at more remote, unnoticeable area that are out of Lan Wangji’s reach. Lan Wangji uses his time to fix all the wrongs in the cultivational world from a more influential position ( a good thing, as Lan Wangji had always wanted to right the wrongs, but he could not get an influential position until now ), and for WWX--- WWX is finally free from expectations, liabilities, and responsibilities. WWX is also doing what he always wanted - helping out common people, a task which Lan Wangji has begun for him long ago, so WWX naturally resumes his legacy, helping out people along the way and waiting until the day Lan Wangji is free from  his duties.

WangXian just always ends up repeating after each other/crossing paths because their goals had always been aligned, and together they dreamed of the same thing.

I’ve been thinking about this meta all day for detective / cop au & why I had to include the fact that WWX crushed on Lan Wangji since he was 10 years old, since I usually don’t fancy pre-established relationships without basis, but in this case, Lan Wangji’s part in WWX’s blissful and presumably gone past is very important in both WWX’s development as well as his life in the verse.

On this note: This is just strictly canon only for me. If your muse is a Lan, you don’t need to feel obliged to thrust your muse to fit into the role, unless you personally want to, if we do rp with this verse. But in this verse, the Lan(s) run a company that’s a cyber security firm by day and a mafia group in the black market by night. LXC and LWJ are, of course, the twin heirs of the company. And WangXian does not need to be endgame---depending on whether the Lan Wangji on said verse loves WWX back or rejects him, outcome can be very different.

So back to WWX, his crush on Lan Wangji is important because it eventually ends up the only part of himself that makes him feel human, instead of an empty robot simply triving to catch killers on the loose to avenge his family. From the beginning of the verse - his life as an ordinary, energetic and high-spirited boy - to when he hits adulthood - an empty shell, working a job he never had a passion for, and his only goal being to pursue the killer that killed both his parents as well as Jiang Cheng’s parents - his crush on Lan Wangji was the only thing that WWX carried with him from the best times of his childhood to the darkest times of his adulthood. And since because WWX is a very strongwilled, rigid, stubborn, and headstrong character, he doesn’t break even though he’s basically at the peak of his depression. That is why, love is his only weakness, his only opening.

I felt the crush was necessary because it’s the only part of him left that installs a weakness in his character and ( while I’m not fond of having to describe it this way ), yes, Lan Wangji is WWX’s only weakness. But, it’s not strictly because of his romantic attraction to Lan Wangji but it’s because he also carries memories that WWX is both in love with and is afraid of. Lan Wangji carried most of the memories WWX used to share with him that is both tender and uncomplicated back in those days, when they were kids and WWX was weightless and carefree --- these memories are, to the present adult WWX, both alien and scary, but on another spectrum, also envious. Since present WWX overthinks a lot and suffers from memory lapses, these memories unfold before his eyes all at once when he sees Lan Wangji. He is reminded of his childish crush, the promises he makes to Lan Wangji, the michevious things they did, and WWX gradually helping Lan Wangji easing out of his anti-social phase and uneasiness around people. Everything reminds him ‘How did you became like this? You used to be so bright.’ and the fact that he even needs to be helped by the person who used to need help from him makes him feel even more worthless and pathetic.

Pulling away from this verse’s canon a little bit, WWX has always gained his resolve & determination from the love he has not for himself, but the love he holds for other people. His love for the Wen people made him determined to build a home with them. His love for Lotus Pier made him determined to preserve its heir, Jiang Cheng, no matter what, since if there is no Jiang Cheng, there would be no Lotus Pier. His love for Jiang Yanli makes him risked his life saving Jin Ling from Jin Guangyao’s archers. His love for Gusu Lan made him stay behind to save Sizhui and Jingyi from the demonic cursed arm.

So in this verse, his love for Lan Wangji is similar to those mentioned above, he loved the memories shared believed them, ironically, made him determined to avoid Lan Wangji, as well as the Lan(s) for these 8-10 years. Wei Wuxian had always been reckless and careless about himself, he is apathetic to his own survival and well-being, but he takes everyone around him seriously and would bend backwards to help them unconditionally. Lan Wangji being a part of the Mafia was the ultimate reason Wei Wuxian abandoned his dream of an artist to become a cop. His primary reasons is, of course, he wants to pursue the killers of his parents and adoptive parents, but it’s also because WWX could not accept that someone he trusted and respected and loved belongs to the very same group of people who murdered his parents. He helps the Lan Corporation keep their secret of being a Mafia masquerading as a normal cyber security firm, but if he finds any evidence of them committing something against the law, he would follow protocol and turn them in as well.

So the ‘thorn’ that exist in WWX’s heart for 8-10 years is not solely that Mafias have killed his parents and adoptive parents, but he had also lost his first love to the Mafia. Even after so many years of not seeing Lan Wangji, even after Jiang Cheng graduated and got a job, Jiang Yanli had married into the Jin family and had a son, Wei Wuxian ----him---- still could not deny that he is in love with Lan Wangji, a Mafia, and that his love is unknown, unrequited, and unresolved.

Technically anyone could play Lan Wangji’s role in the verse, but Im just dumb and wanted to stay faithful to WangXian. ADJAJSDSD

Actually, i think ye xiu and wwx gives off similar vibes. They’re both people who works hard, plays hard. They’re trolls in nature but is capable of giving someone a sincere, heartfelt conversation. Most of the time wwx stays away from emotional conversations mostly because he wouldn’t be able to do so without relating himself and therefore conjuring painful/hurtful memories that he’s trying deliberately to avoid. He’d do it if it was necessary, he would try his best to push past boundaries for the sake of others. HOWEVER,, he’s very unlikely to share his emotional burdens if its not at all necessary because,, ,to quote “If I told someone else, the only outcome is that an additional person would just suffer over it.” being the reason behind his silence. 

Yet, WWX’s willingness or unwillingness to share his emotional burdens with others might have very different reasons. 

Despite Jiang Yanli also being one of the people who understood WWX on a personal level, WWX isn’t as inclined to share more with her not because of distrust, but he loves her too much to involve her within his matters. Jiang Yanli seems to be a more sitting-at-home kind of maiden who rarely involves in other matters outside of Yunmeng Jiang ( i.e. at Pheonix Mountain, Jiang Yanli said “I’ve heard of the rules”, implication that she’s never participated ) , so WWX is trying to keep her in her comfort zone where he believes it the safest place for her.

The only person WWX is more willing to share his emotional burdens with is LWJ, because he’s convinced---and learned---that Lan Wangji will accept all of him, as well as all the inconvenience that comes with him. Lan Wangji is also on the same wavelength as WWX enough to understand his mind even before WWX had to voice it out himself.

you know I’ve said that modern!WWX would have motorcyclophobia due to having experienced a crash when he was 16 that left him hospitalized for 3 months and almost broke his leg. However, he’s awfully dramatic when someone is trying to convince him to be on a motorbike---hugging the ground, pole, gates, random people and mail boxes---so the best way to spoil him is driving him around in a car while offering to be the driver bc WWX is kinda a brat himself. He prefers cars, but is too lazy to drive himself around because he likes sleeping in moving vehicles. He usually falls asleep 10 minutes into the ride unless he feels absolutely necessary to stay awake.

He’s just spoiled. He’s a brat and he acts like he’s born with a silverspoon in his mouth. ADASD

Oh anon this is a really interesting question!! I remembered I wrote something brief about this a while before, but I couldn’t find that hc bc it’s been a super long time. 

My WWX specifically does not fall into any of those labels ( top, bottom, switch ). This is because he’s pretty much capable of any role. WWX is a natural actor, and it expands to other aspects of his life as well. In short, he adapts to his partner depending on who they are and what is their preference. He tries his best to accommodate them as much as it’s within his ability to do so. He doesn’t like to take the leading role, but he would if he had to. ( which is why he is submissive, but not exactly a bottom ) being submissive doesn’t have any ns.fw meaning to it other than it means wwx likes following orders, but he is uncomfortable/indecisive when he is the one making them.

wwx can easily be top, bottom, switch, and it heavily depends on his romantic partner and what they are like as a person. However, before that, WWX is strictly none of those roles. If his partner likes bottoming, he would have no issue topping; if his partner likes topping, he would have no problem bottoming most of the time; if his partner likes switching, then he’ll switch—  he personally does not have a preference because he’s only really interested in giving his partner a good time and making them comfortable. On the other hand, he’s usually the submissive type because he finds himself more comfortable with following orders. However, this again isn’t set in stone. wwx tries his best to adapt to his partner. If they’re experienced, he usually lets them have their way. If they’re inexperienced, wwx has no issue ( trying the best to his abilities ) to guide them through the process.

I think WWX and JC’s relationship is super interesting because, in order to understand them, you have to think from both their perspective to understand why they ultimately broke apart the way they are now. For one, I think it’s easier to understand JC as in that he always thought of JYL and WWX as the two people closest to him ever since the Fall of Lotus Pier. JC can no longer afford to either of them anymore, so he guard them like his life depended on it. ( evidence: JC asking WWX to abandon WQ and WN and come with him to Lotus Pier so WWX can be under his protection. I don’t think JC did not care for WQ and WN, but when it comes to the Wen siblings & his honour, he chooses WWX ). Further proof in CQL, WQ questions JC whether he would have brought her to save WN and stake everything at risk and JC was unable to answer her, but he was willing to think of an alternative path for WWX. So I think that says a lot when it comes to where JC’s priorities lie. He was only bitter because it seemed like WWX cared about others more than he does for JC. JC might have placed WWX as his highest priority, but WWX puts everything else BEFORE JC. And the one time WWX picked JC over the other option, was when the other option was himself ( golden core ). So it does feel, from JC’s perspective, that he is trying everything for WWX, but WWX neither appreciates it nor sees his efforts.

HOWEVER, JC’s assumptions were only half the truth. From WWX’s perspective, he only picked WQ and WN over JC because he trusts in JC’s abilities. WWX has absolute faith in JC that, when JC has everything he needs, he’s capable of being independent on his own and that JC does not need WWX’s help. ( evidence: WWX was right---after JC ‘got back’ his core, he rebuilt Lotus Pier, trained new disciples, and re-established Yunmeng Jiang to its former glory. All of these without WWX’s help. ) On many occasions, WWX has enough faith in JC that he’s certain JC can do well on his own ( more evidence: in CQL, you see WWX constantly praises JCs abilities, even if it seemed like an off-handed comment. During the goddess arc when WWX and LWJ ran off to fight WC’s bird. WWX said “Jiang Cheng, your cultivation is quite good. You can stay and protect them.” and although NHS was there, WWX has never said such things to NHS. Because it’s the truth: JC’s cultivation IS better than NHS and perhaps even WQ ). WWX has shown to know JC incredibly well, especially when he constantly states why it’s a bad idea to let JC know about the golden core, because he KNOWS how JC would react and isn’t willing to see that scene become a reality. The only time when WWX picks JC over the other option: the golden core case, is because that is when WWX truly knows that JC WOULDN’T do well without his core, so he stakes everything to help JC get his core back. WWX has never truly abandon JC when he is aware JC could not carry on.

However, due to their personalities clashing in such a way, JC misunderstood that WWX always saw his brother of lesser importance than others. WWX on the other hand, underestimates how important he is to JC. He abandons the idea to rule by JC’s side because he thought JC was okay with that---was okay to have all the powerful to himself---but the fact is both of them were wrong: WWX had always been for JC when JC really needed him, even cutting out part of himself for him. And JC was never power hungry or greedy, neither was he trying to have Lotus Pier all to himself. He just wanted WWX by his side.
