for, perhaps one of the first times in the... endless loop here, mikaela feels a smile grace her features. it feels so normal to wear that expression when it comes to sable. to find endearment, even in the most dire of circumstances. but it still catches her somewhat by surprise. hand even comes up to cover her mouth, as if happiness weren't permit here.

the campfire before them glows and, after a moment, mikaela's hand moves, finding sable's and linking them together. she still didn't know how long it'd been since the fog took her... but finally, that didn't matter. she had someone here, someone that she cared about. and that changed everything.

"you know, i don't think we get much of a choice in the matter." she points out, but the hint of a smile still remains anyway. "but i like the gesture. you always were good at mixing the morbid with the romantic."
