on january fourth, right after announcing yet another project group, GLASSHOUSE had something else hidden in their pockets — and that something is a collaboration with FUNKO INC. and MGA ENTERTAINMENT for CRYSTYLE's own doll line to be made in the near future!

both companies released what would be the finished products, and fans couldn't get enough of it! the dolls' design is more made to fit the members own personal concept / brand, and not the brand of CRYSTYLE, but fans can't help but adore it even more because it shows where the artists originally are from. MEW's funko pop doll keeps to her feline concept, SAGE's shows her flashy & glittery side just like during JADED; where she's known as the leader that knows what she wants, ROSARIO's is fearless and indomitable, SOUR GRAPES' fits her ongoing punk and girl crush concept, while TOMIE's brings back STUPID CUPID in the design, which can also be seen in their BRATZ dolls as well!

some were more judgemental of GLASSHOUSE's decision to develop dolls for each CRYSTYLE member, calling favouritism, but were quickly slammed with positive comments on social media; underneath are only a handful amount of those positive comments from lots and lots that could be found with one simple search!

  ━  ❝  LIM  HWAYOUNG,  professionally  known  as  SOUR  GRAPES,  is  a  versatile  South  Korean  artist,  excelling  as  a  rapper,  songwriter,  and  record  producer  under  GLASSHOUSE  INC.’s  subsidiary,  MIGHT  DEVIL.  Her  debut  on  August  21,  2019,  marked  the  beginning  of  a  remarkable  journey,  highlighted  by  the  release  of  the  single  "FOR  ME"  and  later,  the  mini  album  "GLASS  GRAPES."

CRYSTYLE ( kr : 크라이스타일 ) is a fictional supergroup that was officially formed by GLASSHOUSE INC. on 31st december, 2022, with soloist MEW and JADED's SAGE, while also adding STUPID CUPID's TOMIE and soloists ROSARIO & SOUR GRAPES, which are from MIGHTY DEVIL. the project group was teased during the new years celebration, where the members covered a mashup of LILYPAD's best hits before introducing themselves as CRYSTYLE.

the supergroup released their debut mini-album a month after their announcement, named THE BIRTH OF CRYSTYLE, which received FOUR PAKs and sold two million copies upon its release. the members themselves are very popular within their respective fandoms, so such a high achievement of CRYSTYLE's debut album wasn't a big surprise to most people.

during the promotions for BEHIND THE SCREEN, GLASSHOUSE announced that their first supergroup will have a special lightstick released soon after the album promotions end. this came as a total surprise to fans because it's almost nonexistent that a supergroup releases a proper lightstick and not those cheap ones everyone starts with.

the design idea for the lightstick has already been released, and pre-orders are growing as hours go by. in just twenty-four hours after opening their official online store, the demands for it have surpassed 500,000 orders and the number is steadily climbing up. CROWNBONG, as it's named by the company, featured a big crystal-dome-like top with small gems surrounding the main attraction. on one side of the lightstick, there are delicate pearls made to look like tears dripping down the crystal, completing the meaning of the group's name.

posted december 2023 — GLASSHOUSE INC. CONFIRMS CRYSTYLE'S COMEBACK AFTER ALMOST A YEAR OF INACTIVITY

CRYSTYLE will be making their long-awaited comeback after almost a year of group inactivity!

the project group garnered much attention since their release of LILYPAD's mashup cover on december 31st, 2022. their debut on the 31st of january this year also hasn't gone quiet, as they managed to attract a lot of attention from their respective fandoms.

this week, fans noticed mysterious posters named "BREAKING NEWS" appearing on the streets of seoul, which featured blurry images of what seemed to be a five-member girl group. upon posting the photos of the posters on twitter, a new account appeared on everyone's home page, where only a QR code would be seen, with the words "DID YOU MISS ME?" & "AWAIT FURTHER NEWS" written on top and bottom of the poster. after scanning the code, it would take you to a private youtube video, which would only show five different pairs of eyes, with glitches randomly appearing during the whole 30 seconds of it.

the date for the comeback hasn't been confirmed, but the company says they have a lot of plans for CRYSTYLE, which will happen in december!

BEHIND THE SCREEN is the first full album by GLASSHOUSE's project girl group, CRYSTYLE. it was teased throughout the second part of november, and officially released in december with 12 songs, two of which were promoted for 7 weeks altogether. this album is the first out of many upcoming ones that consist of both english and korean tracks, yet only the korean ones were rightfully promoted. BREAKING NEWS won five, while START OF A DRAMA got nine music show wins during the album promotion.

the group first released a music video for START OF A DRAMA, which reached over SIXTY MILLION views in the first 24 hours, overthrowing their debut song(s), SHUT IT DOWN and HOWEVER YOU WANT IT, which received FIFTY MILLION.

two weeks later, they released an mv for BREAKING NEWS, which reached almost FIFTY-FIVE MILLION views. the second song was promoted only briefly on the music shows, yet managed to receive five wins!

now you'd think that fans were satisfied with this comeback, which most were, but there were a lot of arguments on twitter and tiktok about the line distribution for both SOAD and BREAKING NEWS. fans trended hashtags "#LETSAGESING" and "#WHEREISMEW" because they had fewer lines in each promoted song.

after the whole album was released, it was obvious that some of the songs sounded a little familiar, and that is because while performing at MMA this year, short instrumentals would be played between their songs as transitions.

speaking of MMA, the girls brought home a couple of awards. they received a win for BEST FEMALE GROUP, GLOBAL ARTIST and TOP 10 ARTISTS.

the members were credited for producing and writing the lyrics for this album, and each member said they made their solo song from scratch.

CRYSTYLE got a little bit into what some people would say a scandal, mainly due to their HEADLINES version of the album, where you'd get a popular scandal or rumour with the members' photocard made to look like a sticker*. while netizens said that was unprofessional and prone to shoo away new fans, international fans praised them for keeping to the album's concept and making the fans buy the limited version of the album more.

the era itself was a questionable one because as much as fans liked the visuals and the songs, it was noticeable the album was mainly produced by PENROSE's LAZY BOY, who's quite a controversial producer in the music industry for seemingly copying other producers. as of now, fans haven't managed to find the original songs from any of the songs, meaning that for the first time ever, LAZY BOY produced the songs from scratch.

THE  BIRTH  OF  CRYSTYLE  is  a  debut  mini  album  by  GLASSHOUSE’s  subunit,  CRYSTYLE.  the  mini  album  consists  of  seven  tracks,  two  of  which  were  promoted  together,  HOWEVER  YOU  WANT  IT  and  SHUT  IT  DOWN.  the  subunit  received  twelve  music  show  awards  for  the  8-week  promotions  and  sold  2  million  copies  upon  the  album's  physical  release  at  the  end  of  january.

the  fans  were  patiently  waiting  for  CRYSTYLE’s  debut,  and  they  were  not  disappointed  with  the  end  results!  most  songs  from  the  album  reached  very  high  on  the  charts  (  and  stayed  there  for  most  of  the  album  promotions  ),  with  SHUT  IT  DOWN  and  HOWEVER  YOU  WANT  IT  received  respectfully  TWELVE  awards  and  FOUR  PAKs  in  total!  the  music  videos  have  been  receiving  lots  of  attention  as  well,  reaching  FIFTY  MILLION  views  in  the  first  24  hours  and  still  climbing!  

everyone  could  feel  the  chemistry  the  girls  gave  when  promoting  together,  and  fans  said  they  enjoyed  watching  their  promotional  stages  very  much.  the  outfits  during  the  promotions  only  made  it  more  pleasing  to  their  eyes. 

for  the  special  track,  SO  LAVISH!,  the  girls  admitted  in  an  online  interview  that  all  five  participated  equally  in  producing  the  song  and  writing  lyrics  for  it,  only  adding  more  praises  under  their  name  as  a  group. 

fans  demanded  that  CRYSTYLE  release  a  studio  version  of  their  STEP  IT  UP  cover,  but  the  most  they  got  was  a  dance  practice  video  posted  on  the  group’s  official  youtube  account.  despite  that,  the  video  was  shared  on  twitter  and  instagram  the  most,  and  some  people  mixed  the  dance  practices  of  CRYSTYLE  and  LILYPAD  together  to  show  the  similarities  in  their  dancing. 

fans  didn’t  expect  TOMIE  to  be  very  overworked  this  early  in  the  year  due  to  promoting  with  CRYSTYLE  and  STUPID  CUPID  at  the  same  time.  many  of  them  begged  the  company  to  let  her  rest,  but  TOMIE  had  to  reassure  her  fans  that  she  felt  fine  and  would  take  a  break  if  she  thought  she  couldn’t  manage.  the  people  backed  off  a  little,  but  that  didn’t  stop  them  from  complaining  on  social  media  about  the  situation.  however,  since  february  15th,  she  hasn’t  been  seen  with  the  rest  of  the  group  promoting  the  album  outside  the  music  shows,  so  fans  have  calmed  down  a  little. 

overall,  the  debut  of  CRYSTYLE  went  better  than  anyone  expected,  with  many  wanting  the  company’s  subunit  to  stay  active  a  lot  longer  than  just  until  their  promotions  end.  it  seemed  that  the  members  wanted  the  same  thing  because  they  didn’t  take  the  time  to  mention  that  on  their  instagram  accounts.  only  time  can  tell  what  the  company  will  decide  about  CRYSTYLE  in  the  future.

on  december  31st,  2022,  just  hours  before  midnight,  GLASSHOUSE  INC. released  a  live  video  with  a  timer  on  youtube,  counting  down  the  time  for  what  fans  thought  to  be  only  the  celebration  for  2023.  however,  minutes  before  the  clock  struck  midnight,  the  timer  faded,  and  all  fans  could  see  was  a  decorative  stage  full  of  backup  dancers.  on  the  third  beat,  a  small  banner  showed  on  the  scene,  showing  a  title  named  “  INTRO  :  THE  TEARS  OF  CRYSTYLE  ”  before  five  very  familiar  girls  cat-walked  to  the  stage  in  the  beat  of  the  intro.  as  the  people  watching  in  the  comments  freaked  out  over  recognising  some  of  the  idols,  most  of  them  started  recording  on  their  own  devices  as  people  in  the  audience  started  screaming.  the  music  shuffles  at  the  end  of  the  intro  until  a  familiar  melody  starts.  the  five  girls,  now  known  as  MEW,  ROSARIO,  SAGE  of  JADED,  SOUR  GRAPES  and  TOMIE  of  STUPID  CUPID,  start  performing  a  cover  of  LILYPAD’s  STEP  IT  UP,  lighting  up  the  stage  with  fearlessness.  as  fans  watched  the  clock  slowly  scroll  to  midnight,  the  main  chorus  of  STEP  IT  UP  began,  matching  the  second  2022  shifted  to  2023.

the  CRYSTYLE  sub-unit  performed  STEP  IT  UP  almost  wholly  before  the  music  shuffled  into  TWILIGHT,  LILYPAD’s  b-side  from  the  same  album.  the  camera  moved  from  one  side  to  another,  showing  off  the  sparkles  on  the  clothing  as  fans  spammed  the  comments  of  the  live  performance  once  again.  lastly,  TWILIGHT  rearranged  to  BYE  BYE,  another  b-side  of  LILYPAD.  the  girls  slowed  the  dance,  letting  ROSARIO  in  the  centre  as  she  belted  out  the  high  note,  confirming  the  end  of  the  performance.  as  CRYSTYLE  took  a  few  breaths,  the  audience's  screams  doubled,  watching  the  confetti  fall  onto  the  stage  and  the  individuals  present.

MEW  confidently  took  a  mic,  greeting  everyone  and  letting  the  screams  pass.  “  as  everyone  knows,  STEP  IT  UP  turns  10  years  this  year,  ”  the  soloist  starts,  “  and  we’ve  gathered  here  to  celebrate  the  beautiful  years  we’ve  all  had  in  the  company,  some  fewer  years  than  others.  ”  the  crowd  watches  as  all  five  stand  next  to  each  other,  bow,  and  congratulate  everyone,  wishing  a  happy  new  year  before  the  camera  fades  into  black,  ending  the  live.

the  morning  of  january  1st  was  overwhelming  for  fans  of  the  five  idols,  now  known  as  CRYSTYLE.  as  the  video  of  the  youtube  live  was  posted,  so  did  the  comments  of  people  asking  if  CRYSTYLE  was  a  fixed  sub-unit  or  just  a  project  like  MEWTO.  GRACE  CHWE,  the  CEO  of  GLASSHOUSE,  announced  that  the  performance  for  welcoming  2023  was  done  to  introduce  the  girls  that  will  be  members  of  the  company’s  sub-unit,  adding  that  an  official  debut  is  in  the  works  and  people  should  await  further  news.

the  youtube  video  of  the  performance  racked  up  40  million  views  on  the  first  day,  and  while  they  continued  to  rise,  so  did  people's  interests.
